  1. Don't forget to remove the crest on a non powered car.
  2. Nice to see the finished jobs Gary. I recall taking the pictures for the high top P.way van over 30 years ago. Good to see you beat me to it with that one. I did get the Tiny Transit van from China a few weeks back, so no excuse for not getting on with mine now.
  3. One I have used a couple of times, Cheddleton 5min. walk from station on the Churnet Valley, Staffs.
  4. Reference earlier to the nearby Tal y Cafn site. There was no connection. Back in the early 70s we (a collection of railway minded preservationists) rented the goods shed and part of the yard at Llanrwst from B R. We had there a few wagons and a couple of small diesel locos along with a few road vehicles all owned by a selection of the members. However after a few years B R made the rent impossible for our small group but offered us the goods yard at Tal y Cafn for a lot less. We moved most items there along with the Local tramway society to share the costs. Some larger items were sold and some donated on loan to other local groups. Eventually people moved there seprate ways. We did have a LNWR brake van, and wonder if this went to Bettws ?
  5. So sad to hear of an old pal passing from this dreadful virus. Graham was originally from Colwyn Bay, and he and I were at school together. We got on well having a passion for model railways . He introduced me to N gauge when we were in our teens, but it was the days when so few items were available to buy and mainly German. He was building a layout in the garden shed but I was never impressed and it actually put me off N for life. He was for a long time a useful member at the Colwyn Model Railway Club. We lost touch when he left the area to seek his fortune down South originally on the S&T, but he did return home sometimes to visit his mother and sister nearby. On some of his visits he would re-aquaint himself with me and other club members and for the past years became a honary club member an often attended our exhibitions with one of his layouts, mainly the Z gauge which he was actively promoting. He used to do the O gauge event at Telford with his range of castings, and could always be easily found in the crowded hall by his loud and distinctive voice. All the best to the family. Merf.
  6. Not done much modelling recently. The last thing I bought from Frank at R T I before he passed away was at Warley show a couple of years ago. It was intended to be rebuilt with a high roof as one of many that NCL had in the white / blue livery, but before I got round to it I found a photo of this van, which may have been a test buy to compare with the Commer Walkthrus and is the only one I have come across in the yellow livery and with standard roof.
  7. I'm with John Isherwood on this. Even worse with semaphore signals where the oil lamp lights the whole room up.
  8. The only vehicles from the mid 60s I have details if were these c1962 399PRO Humber Hawk black Saloon BTP London plain black 1966 JLE 69D Ford Zephyr 6 Mk.III Saloon BTP Birmingham Not London but their may have been similar there. Plain black with a bell on the front bumper
  9. I was doing GEM 00 track that way over 50 years back and it certainly was. Rough on the finger tips too.
  10. The doors were done in Humbrol pale blue. Not sure of number, maybe 47. The Arriva turquoise is from Cherry paints. All of mine is brushed.
  11. I used rail blue by RailMatch. No date on their bottles. But I would suggest the earlier dates are the commonest, 1985 was very late in the day.
  12. BR never had anything like that. The few that they had were mainly coach built bodies on standard chassis cabs. The bodies were part seating and part tools. Divided by a bulkhead. This style of crew cab would have been insufficient for B R staff numbers.
  13. Just found a picture of a white one in NSE livery, taken in Tonbridge West yard by one of our members, so not for me to put it on here.
  14. Looks so much better. Not got round to doing mine yet. And I took the pictures years ago.
  15. 2127 on 4-6-1997 before it was replaced with a Mark 3. Used in the Royal Scotsman set for staff sleeping accomodation
  16. Wales is in a similar state from today. Plans we had are torn up.
  17. A couple of shots of one of the preserved ones which may help with yours. They show the correct fleet number if you wish to renumber it.
  18. Not a railway bridge though Phil, but one under the Bridgwater canal near Warrington. The bridge was rebuilt in the 80s allowing normal buses to pass but it still had to be single deckers. 2 of the Bedfords are preserved but the Bristols didn't last long.
  19. For those interested. Photo is at Llysfaen on the up line. Probably a loaded ballast from Penmaenmawr.
  20. No evidence YET of the livery in service with RTC, but keep looking. A model from the Oxford PWay bus is possible.
  21. Yes it was new to the Derby RTC, but painted in the usual yellow livery. I have a couple of pictures of it in my collection, however they are not mine to share. I also have seen the picture of it after sale in the RTC livery.
  22. Blaenau Ffestiniog being an example. Only signal is the fixed distant to denote approach to a terminus.
  23. Thanks Martyn for the pictures. I had heard of the Dettol idea as well from somewhere, but it is good to see the evidence of how effective it is.
