  1. The set details are also confirmed by the descriptions on the Hornby website - the 5 car set has the full list of it's stock and the 7 car set mentions the development car, but not if it's a 2+1+Power+Dummy+2 or a 2+1+Power+3. Photos on the net seem to suggest the former. Cheers, 60800
  2. Third party here - these details are also confirmed by the descriptions on the Hornby website - the 5 car set has the full list of it's stock and the 7 car set mentions the development car, but not if it's a 2+1+Power+Dummy+2 or a 2+1+Power+3. Photos on the net seem to suggest the former. Cheers, 60800
  3. Found it; 2+1+Power+Dummy+2 if the photo is anything to go by. Edit: Another photo of the set at Wigan; https://images.app.goo.gl/iuPQAdRaXrRKcCeb9 I've gone ahead and ordered the 7 car plus a TRBS set, so I can swap out the APT-U and dummy power car to run something more representative of the survivor. Might look at shifting the dummy on or turning it into the spare at Crewe, but I've always wanted what was effectively the prototype Mk.4 coach Cheers, 60800
  4. One would expect it to be a 3+1+Power+2 formation. Evidently there is photographical information of the set somethere, if someone can track it down. I'm going to have a look through the old DJM thread as there was a big discussion about formations with plenty of photographic evidence. As stated, the exact formations will be in the catalogue, but at least we know the broad spectrum of what they will be. Cheers, 60800
  5. Morning all, I've asked Paul Isles about the formations and liveries for the APT sets, this being his direct quoted answer; ''The 7-car APT (which is based on an actual 7-car formation featuring the APT-U development car) will feature the black window surround, while the 5-car will feature the plain yellow front. The catalogue, on p.61, features full details, along with additional vehicle numbers and how they will complete sets.'' I'm happy to post his response to me due to him stating only what will evidently be in the catalogue when people get their hands on it Cheers, 60800
  6. Is this what became the prototype MK4? Cheers, 60800
  7. Only just noticed the lack of Modern Mk4's. How odd. Cheers, 60800
  8. Literally cannot believe what I'm seeing. It's as if they turned to Eastern and Modern Midland region modellers and said 'sure, have whatever you want' Saw the Thompson Pacific's and thought wow, then Hush-Hush... In both forms and then the APT! Just wow. Not overly happy about the 91 as it could steal Cavalex's thunder. I hope it doesn't stop cavalex though as the range of liveries is far better. Cheers, 60800
  9. Not seen it noted on here, but the LNER MK3's are slowly being delivered; these have modified bogies with NEM pockets and come fitted with continental style close couplings (regular ones are in the box). I thought it was only the new tool sliding door stock that was recieving this treatment, but a nice surprise regardless. Cheers, 60800
  10. I'm really really hoping there is a staggered release schedule for these 91's and the MK.4 stock. Way too many nice liveries for my wallet to cope with haha. Cheers, WV908
  11. Since they won't need any matching coaching stock, is there any chance of getting 91117 or 91120 in Europhoenix livery? ;) Cheers, 60800
  12. I think a very sensible decision regarding the 4mm version would be to plug ahead with the locomotive and DVT regardless of the viability of the Mk.4 stock. This is why; People already have Mk.4 stock, simple as that. People already have 91’s too, but when you look at the models, the Hornby Mk.4 is good shape wise, the roof detail is ok and the only major issue is the lack of skirts at the coach ends - you’d need an all singing and dancing Mk.4 to convince people to replace them as the existing model is ‘good enough’, in my eyes at least. The Hornby 91 is a dog. The shape is wrong, the details don’t match the current 91/1 designated locos, there’s no lights, no decent cab interior and the mechanism sounds like a knackered traction motor blower... My personal thoughts behind this and my reason for posting it is that I would like to have two rakes of Mk.4 stock (in LNER) but I wish to have four locos (05, 10, 11, 19) and don’t see enough wrong with the current Mk.4’s to not repaint them. Don’t get me wrong, I will want one full set from yourselves in LNER to go behind 91105, but i’m also more than happy to save money and upgrade / repaint my existing sets and put the money into the locos instead. Others may think this way too, hence why I am saying please, if the coaching stock fails to be viable from pre-order numbers, still look at producing the loco and DVT regardless. Cheers, 60800
  13. There’s two of them amazingly - both built in the 70’s and are pretty much scaled down versions of the real thing, down to the lubrication, copper firebox, riveted boiler etc (but I don’t think either have ever steamed). They were both owned by the same chap who passed away in 2010 (not the original builder). It’s taken this long for the second to go to auction for some reason. Cheers, 60800
  14. I’ll not post the photo of it with Silver Link then It’s interesting making a comparison between the two. Somehow the Duchess looks just as sleek despite it’s more ‘basic’ shape of casing. Cheers, 60800
  15. I agree, but it wouldn’t fit with my layout plans. Besides, I already have 46229 in Maroon and loco duplication isn’t as cheap as it used to be (looks at my four versions of Green Arrow). Now what I would be interested in seeing is Hamilton as 6220 in the states with the headlamp. Surely someone will do it? Cheers, 60800
  16. The numbers are a bit funny to remove (the outer edges do not like to shift), but here is 6220. I feel that this new tooling captures the face and proportions of the loco so much better than the old model. Cheers, 60800
  17. Hi Ian, thanks - it’s good enough for me as it means my planned area of operations for my layout is able to handle a streamlined coronation For anyone else wanting to model 6220 from 6221, the nameplate is the same size as fox’s Coronation plates, so it’s an easy job; Something i’ve just realised is that at some point 6220 had backing plates for the crests as shown on my 6220, but not when she was released to traffic. It appears that the backing plates were then removed and the crests mounted higher on the casing. When identities were swapped with 6229, it then gained the crests at the same position with no backing. Cheers, 60800
  18. Hopefully not too much of a thread drift, but is there any evidence (apart from 6229’s ventures being dragged from York to Shildon and back) of a streamlined Duchess venturing on / near the ECML, or Leeds for that fact? Cheers, 60800
  19. I must say i’m very happy with my two Coronations - the only fault i’ve had with them was 46229’s combination lever was fitted backwards, so I just bent it into shape. 6221 is seen here with the larger diameter bogie wheels fitted and the supplied detailing fitted also. The cylinder drains are currently not fitted as they would get damaged during renaming. Plates etc for 6220 are on the way. My apologies for workbench shots as the layout is still a way off at present. Cheers, 60800
  20. Some nice little surprises in there if you have a dig around - D213 especially! Any update on the V2’s or any planned further class 90 liveries? cough* DB cough* Cheers, 60800
  21. D9009 and D9002 duly ordered! My favourites of the class and the only two i’ve seen run, in the exact condition in which i’ve seen them run. Looks like now is the time to ditch your Bachmann Deltics - shifted my 55002 within about 2 minutes of listing it, not as much luck with D9008 yet though. I’m amazed by the engine room detailing and lighting and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the cab detailing and lighting is pulled off as, together with the shape / detailing on the nose those are the main things that have drawn me in. Really looking forward to a correctly proportioned cab windowscreen too as I find that to be the worst point of the Bachmann 55 (ride height was fairly easily fixable) I remember seeing Gordon in Porterbrook purple stuffed behind the erecting shop at Donny on the open day in 2003, and although I wouldn’t buy it in purple, if for a further run you considered doing Gordon in TTG but still with the wipacs (circa 2005/6) I’d be very tempted. Cheers, 60800
  22. So are they going to bother announcing an NCIM 87001 before I waste my money on 87035? There is that convenient R number gap and I would have hoped that they would have been ahead of the game a little bit with this one. Cheers, 60800
  23. I see no-one has mentioned this forthcoming announcement for a special twin pack that is being done. Whatever it is is supposed to be announced this week, but apart from one post on facebook there is nothing. Cheers, 60800
  24. Thanks for the reply - hopefully there'll be an order flying your way early next week EDIT: Now on the order list for 828 as preserved Cheers, 60800
  25. My wallet is crying.... A brilliant announcement, although I'm not committing the pre-order value until we have an estimated RRP Cheers, 60800
