  1. Without wishing to denigrate Mr ABS , is there anything in r-t-r , he has ever been impressed with ?
  2. It's old fashioned phone or letter with S E Finecast. Dave is one of the nicest guys to deal with and do his utmost to look after you.
  3. I am not prejudging, it is going to be interesting to watch Dapol overcome all the hurdles.
  4. With all these quality control issues, I can't wait to see what their premium (Black label) range is gonna turn out like.
  5. I phoned Mr Dunn about 18 months ago to obtain some etched luggage grills and some spare gwr monster windows. Yes yes , no problem. 3 months later phoned again "where are they ?" ,"grills out of stock , be a couple of months til etch supplier runs some more". Gave up and got some grills from brass masters, took all of about a week. Made my own windows. All stuff still ' on order' with Coopercraft....didn't seem much point on wasting money on a phone call (from Canada) to cancel (seeing as it's never going to come anyway. I got told off last year on here for saying he is as much use as a chocolate teapot but I think I stand by that remark !
  6. I find it safer that way !;-)
  7. 'Tis a thing of beauty. Need to go wash my mouth out with soap now, me being GWR fan.
  8. Having recently lost my job , perhaps you could give generously for the urgent "Bachmann for Lofty" Charity appeal ?Or if it makes you feel better , keep buying lots of Bachmann (at full retail) to keep them afloat until such time as I am back in the game ! Help a fellow modeller an' all that .....there's a good Chap !
  9. No hammering from me. Bachmann pricing keeping me out for the moment.
  10. Reading the Hammond books on Triang/Hornby , I was amazed that they did a prototype of a GWR "City of Truro". If they had forged on ,we could now have had a slew of Western 4-4-0 derivatives which would have been fantastic. Flowers , Bulldogs , Atbara's , etc. Ain't gonna happen now
  11. Saw a couple of the APT's at Brampton (Ontario) British Train Show today. Stunning models !
  12. My back gave out on Friday , could barely walk so left work early. Boss came round last night and gave me my redundancy papers. Great !

What Union? Small independent business . Canadian law is different to UK so will have to look into it.

  13. True dat ! It's a nightmare trying to find stuff for sensible money in Midwestern Ontario. The biggest joke is I can usually source stuff from the UK with the shipping cheaper than within in Ontario itself !
  14. I got my final two 'extra' C54's yesterday. They are almost works of art for R-T-R releases. Much better value for money than the Bachmann Auto trailer imo.
  15. Just got stung an extra $21 import duty (well $11 import and $10 handling charge <thieves Grrrrrrr >) for my Colletts. Pretty much pieces of art IMHO Excellent value compared to the blue box brigades idea of pricing ! Let's hope Hornsby don't go the way of the Dodo
  16. Try buying stuff when living in Canada. Just blown $430 on the new Hornby Colletts. (That's like you coughing 430 quid)Ouch !
  17. Oh dear. At the last count I have 11 auto trailers. Do I need help ?
  18. Managed to pick the whole set off Ebay for 110 quid. Very pleased.
  19. I had two Jackson Evans 39xx kits. Wish I had never been persuaded to part with them. Grrrrr
  20. Also grabbed this "medium" Metro back. Unfortunately had to let my two original SE Finecast Metro's go :-(
  21. I originally purchased the Loco from Scale Rail Model Centre (when it was in Eastbourne. I then stupidly got persuaded to part with it along with several other kits by a "friend" who then cheated me out of all of them and refused to pay me.....long story. Said former friend then died and slowly but surely his widow via a third person has been selling all "my stuff" on Ebay. I grabbed the chance to buy three kits (that's all I could afford and they now sit at my Mum's place in the UK waiting to be brought over to Canada on the next visit. Only pic I have is the Ebay pic and you can see that it has its sandboxes placed on top of the side tanks. Whoever built it obviously wasn't au-fait with where they went. I had not got around to fixing the error and it just sat in a display case. Once it arrives I shall finally sort it !
  22. I also have an outside frame Metro No 1 , Mike. Up until your pic I have never seen another. They appear to be rare kits !
