Our club was once at a show where on one side we had a Southern Railway layout which used bells as part of its signalling set up and on the other side we had a BR shed layout full of sound fitted class 37...great fun
-
I was once talking to a trader who was placed between two sound layouts at a show, by Sunday packing away time came around he was a sound convert...and deaf
-
Seems to be ok now, but very worrying
-
Looks like a really nice loco, I'm still not big on the sound thing I think its just a fad
where did you pick up your loco by the way

Hi, could anyone tell me if this site has gone off line all I get is 'page can't by displayed' just looked its the same on the official site?
-
Yes it seems to have atmosphere all right, but not a place to go at night I'm thinking.
-
Apparently a train load of Republican congressional representatives on their way from Washington DC to a retreat at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia hit a truck. Immediately following last night's State of the Union address they were off to West Virginia at a golf resort for a couple of days.
One person is reported dead and there are some serious injuries.
At least one representative was taken to hospital, but the congressional delegation seems mostly uninjured.
Story on CNN here.
More to follow.
The Greenbrier is a golf resort that during the Cold War was equipped as a back-up location for the government to function, and housed a, now decommissioned, nuclear bunker.
Apart from the sad loss of life it seems only fitting that this train should run into a garbage truck

Our club was e-mailed about this as I'm sure most clubs were. Thank God no one was keen on it, I only watched half an hour of it and I wanted to punch someone...maybe its just me.

Do you remember the good old days when people would be upset if Hornby had the livery of a loco wrong, and now we've come to this 11 pages of nothing just what are we getting out of it?
FYI yes there was a little sarcasm there.

I'm sure any money that is owed to myself and others will not be repaid, but don't you think that we should draw a line under it before anything unpleasant is said

After 57 pages, plus other threads I have not seen one single post from Paul Dunn giving his side of the story. Correct me if I am wrong and have missed it.
What could he say apart from sorry....and by the way Billy your kits in the post.

Unfortunately, for me, not for Mr Dunn, I didn't see this thread until very recently. I placed an order on 10th March for 3 four plank wagons. I called Mr Dunn, though I didn't know his name at that point, on 10th June to chase them up. He told me about the warning on the home page, that I had not seen as I'd gone straight to the product page from a search, and that he was having problems with the chassis and expected to be able to ship in about three months. It is now six months later. I have emailed and phoned with no further response.
The amount is not large, just over £20, but that is not the point. From the experience of others in this thread I now know that I have been duped. He may have got into a mess by simply getting over his head. But now he is knowingly taking money while knowing he will not fulfil the orders. Whether he knows that is against the law is not relevant. Ignorance is not a defence, particularly when the moral position is so clear. I don't understand those defending his continuing actions unless they too have similar business morals.
So I will continue to push to try to get through to Mr Dunn. But, having read this thread, with little hope of seeing my money back, and even less of seeing the kits (which I would prefer). I will continue to support small suppliers where I can, but will in future read existing threads and make my assessments of their business practices and business morals before I part with my money.
Kind but rather resigned regards, Neil
Like you the amount I've lost is not large, but I've phoned and e-mailed without any answer that's what get's me it's almost as if he's just having a laugh

I don't think I'm ever going to see my LNER hopper wagon kit now.
-
There has been a bit of CC stuff on ebay of late!
Khris
Yes but its the idea that I've already paid for it that get's me
-
And I'm no closer to getting my coal hopper kit
-
That's the thing I really like about this site in 3 day's we've gone from loving the new loco to wondering if its not to late to redesign it, sadly I have way to many half done kits I'll never finish so this is the only way I'd get an Andrew-Barclay loco. Ok I'm done continue
-
Maybe if it had opening top doors £83 would not seem to high!
-
Wow! You even have your own groupies

I wondered if you could help with this I've just watched a DVD that showed Colas 60076 on a cement train but on the side of the loco it had a 'TARMAC' logo was this just a one off thing?
-
I've seen one or two reviews of the wagon on YouTube and they look good but not £83 good, and if the reviewer was right there are only two numbers!
I wonder what Hornby will do with the moulds?
-
Just ordered 506 from HATTONS its a nice shade of green. Of course someone (not me) will cover that nice green in crap and paint NCB on the side and bang it on e-@@@

At first my thinking was 'this is a miss print' but no over in the States unused coal Bethgons Gondolas are having covers fitted to carry used grain from ethanol plants which is used for animal feed. It seems Kato are doing a 8 car set in N-scale I wondered if anyone had heard about any being done in HO as I said all I can find are N- scale
-
I'm not sure when but it was some time ago!! I picked up an assembled pre-production sample of the SD50/60 'DRAPER TAPER LOCO'.
Manufactured by Chris Leigh, I'm sure I'll get round to finishing it someday
