  1. Dear RMWebbers,

Thankfully, just like the pursuit of Scale Visual modelling,

Scale Aural modelling means that once the appropriately-scaled sonic model is achieved,

there is no (scale modelling) reason to change it (IE make it louder)...

Turning up the Master Volume CV "because it's a noisy room"

is IMHO no different than putting G scale details on a HO loco "because No-one notices the scale-appropriate-sized details at exhibition-viewing distances"....

(If the punter is truly-engaged by the model presentation,

    they will lean-in, get up-close,

and be rewarded with a "finescale" audio bonus which is in-keeping with the otherwise-finescale visual model...

...said another way, even a prototype 12"/1' scale loco in notch8, screaming it's prime-mover out,

is rendered "inaudible" by an earthquake or tornado-worth of ambient noisefloor... ;-) )

    Happy modelling,

    Aim to Improve,

    Prof Klyzlr

PS just because a "scale sound" loco or layout can't be heard "against the 12"/1' scale noisefloor" at 6' listening distance,

does not mean the audio thru-air soundwaves the ear recieves aren't physically present in the air,

Only that the punter has to actually _consciously listen_ for them... ;-)

(funny, that's just the same as the punter having to _consciously look_ for the "superdetails" in a finescale modelling scene...)

and sadly I'm a bit deaf and wear spectacles so I'm no good to anyone :senile:

  2. Apparently a train load of Republican congressional representatives on their way from Washington DC to a retreat at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia hit a truck.  Immediately following last night's State of the Union address they were off to West Virginia at a golf resort for a couple of days.

One person is reported dead and there are some serious injuries.

At least one representative was taken to hospital, but the congressional delegation seems mostly uninjured.

    Story on CNN here.

    More to follow.

The Greenbrier is a golf resort that during the Cold War was equipped as a back-up location for the government to function, and housed a, now decommissioned, nuclear bunker.

Apart from the sad loss of life it seems only fitting that this train should run into a garbage truck

  3. Unfortunately, for me, not for Mr Dunn, I didn't see this thread until very recently. I placed an order on 10th March for 3 four plank wagons. I called Mr Dunn, though I didn't know his name at that point, on 10th June to chase them up. He told me about the warning on the home page, that I had not seen as I'd gone straight to the product page from a search, and that he was having problems with the chassis and expected to be able to ship in about three months. It is now six months later. I have emailed and phoned with no further response.

The amount is not large, just over £20, but that is not the point. From the experience of others in this thread I now know that I have been duped. He may have got into a mess by simply getting over his head. But now he is knowingly taking money while knowing he will not fulfil the orders. Whether he knows that is against the law is not relevant. Ignorance is not a defence, particularly when the moral position is so clear. I don't understand those defending his continuing actions unless they too have similar business morals.

So I will continue to push to try to get through to Mr Dunn. But, having read this thread, with little hope of seeing my money back, and even less of seeing the kits (which I would prefer). I will continue to support small suppliers where I can, but will in future read existing threads and make my assessments of their business practices and business morals before I part with my money.

Kind but rather resigned regards, Neil

Like you the amount I've lost is not large, but I've phoned and e-mailed without any answer that's what get's me it's almost as if he's just having a laugh

  4. post-170-0-82586900-1502375242.jpg                                                                                                                                                                                              At first my thinking was 'this is a miss print' but no over in the States unused coal Bethgons Gondolas are having covers fitted to carry used grain from ethanol plants which is used for animal feed. It seems Kato are doing a 8 car set in N-scale I wondered if anyone had heard about any being done in HO as I said all I can find are N- scale
