    EBay madness

The only reason I picked up on it was because I bought one back in 2012, but put it in my watch list just in case I wanted to buy any more (think it was about £8 originally). I completely forgot about it, and then the other day I was having a clear out, and found the price set at that, so its probably (as you say) likely that they are out of stock and awaiting more. Still, its a good bag, ideal if you're stupid enough to have bought a 17 inch laptop without measuring the bag you already had first to make sure it would fit!

I'm struggling to see why each of these are priced differently: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-446-GWR-3rd-CLASS-4-WHEEL-COACH-WITH-STEEL-WHEELS-/400653911624?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5d48d58648 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-446-GWR-3rd-CLASS-4-WHEEL-COACH-WITH-WHITE-WHEELS-/301081301003?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4619d8100b http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-446-GWR-3rd-CLASS-4-WHEEL-COACH-BLACK-WHEELS-MIB-/400653911882?hash=item5d48d5874a Why does having black wheels demand an extra £2? Either way, he's got the decimal point in the wrong place with all of them! EDIT: He appears to be flooding eBay with similar items, eg: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODELS-No-R-4135-S-R-CALEY-4-WHEEL-COACH-VN-MIB-/301081304526?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4619d81dce http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-468-LMS-3rd-CLASS-ex-CALEDONIAN-4-WHEEL-COACHVN-MIB-/400653913383?hash=item5d48d58d27 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-468-LMS-3rd-CLASS-ex-CALEDONIAN-4-WHEEL-COACH-/400653913424?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5d48d58d50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-1031-3rd-CLASS-ex-CALEDONIAN-4-WHEEL-COACH-/301081307644?hash=item4619d829fc

Just discovered today that someone actually bought it! It would be nice to see it restored, but there looks like a hell of a lot of work between then and now.

I think i've seen two of these in most scrap boxes at swapmeets on a fairly regular basis, normal price £1 (if in good nick). I'm pretty sure a Schools body with numerous missing and damaged parts isn't worth in the region of £25: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Assorted-OO-Gauge-Airfix-Hornby-Lima-Steam-Diesel-Locomotive-Bodies-/171224716165?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27ddc9d385 Have Rails changed their approach to selling recently? Seems like most items they list now are in the form of buy-it-nows, but I know from years gone by they have sold a number of items i've watched based on a starting price of 99p that have ended up going way in excess of what they should have done. Are times hard for them, or are they just after even more money for items?

An interesting one from Mr Cartmel: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIMA-MODEL-No-205xx-BR-CL-20-No-20-063-DIESEL-LOCO-CODE-3-/400650660515?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5d48a3eaa3 If someone mentions to him that its Bachmann, do you think it'll be relisted at twice the price?

Anyone bored with OO? Thought about scaling up? Maybe this is a start: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/railway-carriage-Genuine-Severn-Valley-Train-Carriage-/331105764974 Note: Listed as Used. Do Markits offer full scale wheels?
  8. Was in my local model shop yesterday, and got a chance to have a look at each of the new Dukedog models. Having bought a few other models recently, i've not yet jumped in and purchased, but may plan to in the future. A couple of items of note though. Overall, it looks an excellent model, however I noticed rivets appear to be parallel to the running plate on the Bachmann model, when actually they should be sloped. This becomes clear when viewing the images on page nine of this thread, and comparing it to the real thing: http://www.gwr.org.uk/no-dukedogs.html The only reason I picked up on this is because I carried out a little research into the model when building a white metal K's example (which I still have), and I remember going to a great deal of effort to try to align the rivets correctly. Note: I haven't actually counted the number of rivets present (i'm not that bad), but am not really fussed - as long as the look is captured OK!

Christmas is coming, apparently. Maybe not for the (un)lucky recipient of this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XMAS-IS-COMING-LIMA-BRAKE-COACH-in-green-/301041229516?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4617749ecc Also, who on Earth would pay this for one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Golden-Syrup-Hornby-Box-Van-OO-Gauge-/231114175444?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item35cf7a73d4 If i'm right, I believe they are incorrectly fitted with a vaccum cylinder for private owner stock. I'd prefer a Bachmann plywood side van for that much money, and maybe even some change!

The RRP for a new Bachmann 30-160 Rural Commuter set is £99.99. Why would anyone buy this for a tenner more: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-30-160-Rural-Commuter-set-with-Class-105-2-car-DMU-in-BR-green-/151187373488?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2333783db0 Also, I'm not sure how these `points' are going to fit in with the rest of my layout: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRI-ANG-RAILWAYS-R101-MkZA-LEFT-HAND-POINTS-BOXED-c1960-/251377578646?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a87457296 Thought there was a bargain to be had here - then I saw the description : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SCOTSMAN-SET-/291036590456?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43c321f178 Struggling to see how a `self adhesive ginger beard' would deal with my 1 in 40 incline...

Yes, bent and I believe part missing on the right side - there should be an arm extending vertically upwards to the notch in the frames. It almost looks like it has been dropped for the cab to have ended up in that state. Such a shame, as I imagine it was a nice model at one point.

Why not just renumber/rename a perfectly good equivalent model? Certainly beats trying to remodel the cab upright on the left side!
