Seriously? If you've managed to prolong the art of love making through nasal techniques, can you not adapt it to some of your cricketers (mainly batsmen) with regard to prolonging their stay at the crease?

I agree, but still, £250 for an A4 - i'm just glad I bought mine a few years ago now (mind you, I dont have the purple one). Isn't there supposed to be a credit crunch still, or are we passed all that?

I think some people have gone a little bit mental when bidding on Hornby's archive stock: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/OO-Gauge-/122601/m.html?_from=&_nkw=&LH_Complete=1&_armrs=1&_ssn=hornbyhobbiesltd I dont see why any of the items differ to any general releases? Fair enough, they may be a couple of years out of production, but 250 notes for a Hornby A4? With no sound? Ow!

Lots of 'Hornby train sets' listed again, apparently involving no rolling stock, track or controller though... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Trains-Railway-Models-/479/m.html?item=251340610795&pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a85115ceb&_ssn=mrstephenmitchell2011

I appreciate the seller of this loco may have put time and effort into it, however the quality of the Hornby model means I can't see it making the asking price unfortunately: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lima-oo-class-50-NSE-weathered-and-super-detailed-/111156071440?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item19e16b0c10 It has a reserve too!

    EBay madness

Not sure if others have picked up on this already, but there seems to be an emerging trend of quite vague titles, presmuably to get people to look at their listing. For instance, I notice the following with the title 'Hornby train sets': http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-train-sets-/251325184425?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a8425f9a9 However, the sellers interpretation of 'train set' is a Railroad Class 31 (actually, 'sets' in the title implies multiple as well!). Other locos are listed with the same misleading title, and there are plenty of other sellers who seem to do this as well. Surely there should be a controller, a small amount of track and a wagon or two for 'train set' to apply at the bare minimum?

Perhaps the buy-it-now price for this Toby is a tad optimistic: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-toby-train-dcc-for-sale-/141029734152?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20d606f708 There's a Bill and Ben for sale too which also seem steep!

Despite the price, this looks very nice: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-GAUGE-KIT-BUILT-KING-GEORGE-VI-BR-MAROON-4-6-2-LOCOMOTIVE-46244-/130959815157?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e7dd031f5 However, I did notice the following two things: 1) At £445, I would have thought at the very least the buffers would have been as they should, and not all over the place as in the photos! 2) Is it just me, or is there a distinctive 'droop' in the running plate at the very front? I am no expert on kit built stuff, but if I was planning on parting with near enough £500, i'd expect a pukka job. Given that it is Rails as well - an established model shop and trader - I would have thought faults like this would/should be noticed before listing? Also, I just noticed - 300 pages of madness!!!

Wonder if there is any mileage in this for Hornby/Bachmann to consider for the future: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRASS-KITBUILT-00-GAUGE-DECAPOD-0-10-0T-GREAT-EASTERN-LINED-GREY-LOCO-No-20-/130953947810?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e7d76aaa2 To be fair though (with 40 or so mins left), it seems to be a battle between two bidders just over the £200 mark.

This has to be the strangest scrapyard item I have ever seen: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thomas-the-Tank-Scrapped-Abandoned-Graffiti-WEATHERED-LOOK-Banksy-Style-/400539469404?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5d4203465c I know some enthusiasts dont like Thomas events, but I think scrapping the poor fella is taking it a bit far!

RFS: Having done a quick search, I agree with what you say. However, my point still stands - £73.95 for a Pannier tank??? Despite being in a sale, I bought a Commonwealth of Australia recently for less than that! Also, i'm pretty sure I bought both the Southern and SECR liveried C Classes for inside that as well. I certainly take nothing away from the model itself - I have a number in my collection, and all are superb - just that I certainly couldnt justify such an amount for the size of loco that is on offer. Even at £60+, it still seems steep to me. Also, its not like they are exactly 'new' - I cant remember off the top of my head when they were released, but the 8750's must have been out for getting on 10 years now (poss. more), and the 5700's around 5 (at a guess). Is it really costing this much to produce a loco of this size in order to turn around a respectable profit?

    EBay madness

I was browsing the buy-it-nows this lunchtime, and came across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-32-218-Class-57xx-Pannier-Tank-8709-GWR-Green-/190870818468?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c70c98ea4 Is this really the price of new Bachmann Pannier's, or is it just this seller? As a relatively small loco, I would have thought they would suit as the ideal 'jump' from, say, a Railroad model or the Bachmann equivalent. I remember them being about £45 recently, and I thought that was a bit steep but still accessible. However I cant help feeling some people will be put off from the hobby altogether when even relatively small models are now being priced in excess of £70.

Thats the thing though - the model that I have mentioned isnt current spec. The chassis might be fairly recent (ie: darkened wheels, pickups on both sides, etc), however the body is basically the same as one produced by Hornby some 30 years ago. That was essentially the point I was trying to make - how can Hornby justify an RRP of £52.99 for such a model? C&WR - I must admit, I havent been on the hunt for an 08 for a few years now, and having just done a quick eBay search, I see they are fetching a fair amount (between £50 and £60 in some cases!). However, I remember a time just after the Hornby one came out where the motto seemed to be `ditch the Bachmann 08 at all costs'! That was when I remember seeing them at around £30 for used examples - a price I was amazed at, as the two I have are wonderful runners (just that I couldnt justify any more). I'm pretty sure I paid around £35 to £40 for my Bachmann examples new (its going back a bit though) - I understand inflation, but we live in the UK, not Zimbabwe (or 1920s Germany)!

This isn't really eBay madness (so is slightly off topic), however I cant see many of these selling: https://railsofsheffield.com/class-08-diesel-electric-shunter-br-blue-08129-dcc-fitted-r3151x-JJJA18535.aspx I appreciate that Rails (and most other retailers) are just going by the guide price (which is £52.99). I'm not really a diesel fan, but I do have the odd one in my collection. With Bachmann 08s on eBay for around the £30 and newer Hornby ones for only slightly more, why would anyone buy this prehistoric thing at the listed price?
