  1. Bit of a naff photo, and it wasn’t all that close but here’s a white tailed sea eagle. Had to dash out the caravan and snap it with my phone. Spotted whilst on holiday in the highlands.
  2. Hi everyone. Whilst on holiday at a little campsite just outside of Ayr, I noticed the “shed” which housed the bins was an old railway ventilated van. Can someone provide any info about its origins please?
  3. The loading rating for the roof bars is relating to the weight on the bars for a moving vehicle. I was told that cars need to withhold their shape in the event of an accident, so the roof should be able to withstand the effects of rolling over etc. If the roof could only manage to hold 100kg it certainly would not do well in an accident. I’ll try and find a link to the article im on about as it explains it much better.
  4. Thanks for the reply so far chaps. I’ve got an L200 pickup so maybe I will ask on a 4X4 forum. Just thought I’d put some feelers out on here too.
  5. Hi all. I’m looking to get some honest feedback from people who have a rooftop tent please. I’m very much on the fence at the moment as the one I have seen is expensive (Tentbox classic). https://tentbox.com/product/tentbox-classic/ I’d appreciate any thoughts on pros and cons. Thanks.
  6. Looks like one the buffers has taken a knock?
  7. Our youngest, Toby, enjoying himself in the sunshine.
  8. Had this fluttering about my garden this afternoon, I don’t recall ever seeing one before. After a bit of Googling I’ve tentatively identified it as a speckled wood butterfly, can anyone confirm? Rather pretty I think.
  9. How about a Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV)? The replica railways models go for crazy money on eBay. A nice modern model with lights etc would be lovely!
  10. As the the thread title suggests I’m having trouble with my mixer shower. The problem being that it won’t turn on! Doesn’t matter if I’ve got the temperature on hot or cold it just won’t turn on. I popped the faceplate off but that’s as far as I’ve gone as I’m stumped at what to do or try. I’ve attached pictures of what I was greeted with as I popped the cover off. Any pointers would be great fully received!
  11. If “moaning” about prices is not allowed, then what about the comments by people moaning about the people moaning? If it causes so many headaches why not just post the announcements and then lock the thread.
  12. You obviously haven’t read this thread……… https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/162181-preorder-email/
  13. Had this fella for company when I stopped for a cuppa. Just got a picture before it legged it away. Love seeing Hares.
  14. Was excited about the swallow liveried Mk2’s but the excitement quickly turned to gutted when I saw the price. Best part of £100 each for one coach, I just simply can’t afford to buy a rake. By the time I save up for them they will be released and no doubt sold out straight away. And £32 for a single TTA??? Ah well.
  15. Can anyone tell me what the wagons are in C20971 in the Alcan empties train, they’re not a wagon type I recognise? Thanks.
  16. https://newtonreplicas.com/product-catalogue Hope that helps. Cheers.
  17. I took a picture of the price list whilst I was there Hope that helps.
  18. Went to B&Q today and got my loco scanned by the grumpiest assistant ever! Here is the result........... The dark grey looks a lot darker on the photograph, pretty pleased with the result! Thanks for all the help folks!
  19. Interesting. Any ideas where I could find the RAL numbers?
  20. I wonder if I took a model into B&Q they could match it to that? Just looking at the Valspar info, the area to be scanned needs to be 0.5cm wide, so should work for the two body side greys, but no good for the cantrail orange colour, but I could probably just guess for that.
  21. Hi all, bit of an odd one this! I’ve recently purchased a replica nameplate and depot plaque and mounted them on the wall in my railway room. When I showed my dad the picture he said “why don’t you paint the wall as if it’s the side of the loco?” so my question is, does anyone know of any household paint that’s near enough to the colours of BR triple grey? I would like the orange for the cantrail stripe and the greys for the body sides so it would look a bit like this............... please forgive the crude picture! Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi Dave, as always the Blyth and Tyne shots are fantastic. My mate, Smeg, used to live in the cottages at south newsham. I used to be in the scouts and our scout hut was behind the black diamond pub which is (or was?) Just out of shot to the right of the newsham crossing picture. Fantastic memories, thanks for sharing.
