  1. Class 16s now available to pre order from the Liverpool place £107 a throw. Each version appears to be limited to 750 pieces.
  2. Anybody heard when these new releases are out? I've took a risk and ordered D1000 in gloss. I don't know if I'll like it or not, but theres always ebay if i don't.
  3. D6122 was a class 21, not a 29.........maybe!!!!! Theres alot of speculation that D6121 (a class 29) swapped identities with D6122 before or during its rebuild into a class 29. Why? think that will ever remain a mystery. Jim
  4. I am too! It looks like a 40 to me. What does grate is a rats. Their roofs look just wrong. No word of a new one of those is there.....
  5. Most of Antics stuff isn't that well discounted, but they do do some items at very competative rates. I've bought a few of these items and the service is excelent.
  6. I'll check..... I got that wrong, just checked some other pics and yes it is D6300 to D6305, but D6306 has them too. I cannot imagine why they thought it necessary to make them wider and slightly taller.....asthetics?
  7. The kicking plate is under the door and above the foothole, and looks to me to be checkerplate. I wonder why No2s was so much smaller.....

    Dapol Class 22

Question for Dave.... The old Lima class 30/31 model covered as many bases as they could by having serveral different body and nose mold parts which could be put together to form the body mold, where as AFAIK the Heljan class 23 is just one mold that will be modified over time to cover the different styles. If your 22 model is following the Heljan class 23 route, are you planning on doing a model of D6331 in green with full yellows before the mold is modified to do a different set of 22s? Only D6331 and D6312 (present mold only correct for D6331) carried this version of livery. If you do, expect bigger than ususal sales due to rareity! Cheers Jim
  10. They were on about the proposed SA Garratt Mallet, not the LMS Garratt

Poor Dave will be wishing he hadn't made a 22 model at this rate! what a can of worms.......

In a way its a shame that Dapol have modeled D6331 already as its one of only two that carried green with full yellows, a livery I definitely want. What was the other green full yellows? is it one of the 20 odd that Dapol can model?

All class 22s up to D6333 were delivered in all over green with no boxes. After that things get a bit murky. D6334 and 5 definitely were released into traffic in all over green with boxes. I'm really not sure what NBL did paint wise after that because I have a picture D6356 on a test run in all over green, but another picture on here showed a pair of lower numbered 22s on their delivery run with yellow pannels. I've a feeling NBL might have added a yellow pannel after they were satisfied with their test run. To be safe, only D6334 and 5 can be modeled in all over green with boxes. Just out of interest D6333 remained all over green until 1967 when it was painted straight into BR blue with a full yellow pannel with boxes. Quite a few of the pre box 22s received a small yellow pannel before they were fitted with boxes, I couldn't say which ones though. You'll have to check out photos on flickr etc. Non recieved BR blue or a full yellow pannel. D6301 never got its boxes and was scrapped in green with a small yellow pannel. Jim

Mine has a pickup issue on one bogie. Its only picking up on one wheel. I did have a look to see if I could get the keeper plate off, but it seems the plastic is very easily marked from my screwdriver and I'm loathed to do any damage. Having seen those pictures in post 960 I'll have another try.

    Dapol Class 22

I was a bit supprised at the editorial comment at the beginning. I wouldn't describe a 22 as a hugely unsucessfull waste of money. That just regurgitating poxey rubbish from the 70s. Class 16s yes, 22s no. If they were so bad how did they manage to have an availability of 86% in the mid 60s? Other than that its a cracking magazine, some good photos I've not seen before. Carn't wait for the hardback book. It will be interesting to see if the D6331 myth contines in that.

    Dapol Class 22

Well I finally got my D6320! no email or anything off the supplier that I was getting it, it just arrived. Still, it was an excelent price! I do like the valances, a very novel idea even if the do drive you nuts when you take the body off. Anybody glued theirs to the chassis? The only bit that I thought wasn't that good was the headcodes. I fitted them to one end, and they just didn't look right at all. To be honest, of all the lightup headcodes I've seen on models, the old Hornby class 25 looked the most realistic in my opinion. The use of transulcent white plastic with black background printed on to gave the right look when lit. Shame it was totally the wrong typeface. I've fitted Heljan hymek ones for now. One amusing thing I did notice running it was with the lights off and the loco going a fair speed you could see light shining through the front vents making them look like mini marker lights! Has anybody managed to get the cab out? I did gently try to get mine out but a horrid cracking noise put me off. Jim

D6333 was very unusual in that it survived until 1967 in all over green with discs, and went straight to blue with full yellow ends with boxes. '33 was always one of the best 22s.

Yeah Adrian is a top chap, and the reasearch he has done into hydraulics has been second to non. Hes managed to produce a vast range of very specialist books and magazines. If taking the money up front gives him the finance to publish these books, then that just fine by me! Hopefully I'll get my 22 booklet next week.

    Dapol Class 22

Theres a picture of D6356 in all over green in the Westerns Hydraulics book published about 15 years ago, so it stands to reason that all the NBL 22s were delivered in all over green. How many Swindon painted with a yellow pannel before releasing into traffic is another matter though! However they didn't have the double folding doors like the Dapol model has NBL fitted single doors. Heres a picture of D6334 in blue days And heres D6335 in green small yellow days Cheers Jim

Dont forget the D61xx as well Dave!
  25. We need new powerstations, especially fast breeding nukes and the distribution from them. We can either pay through inflated energy bills, or the government could build new ones, or at least provide the money to build them with the view of palming them off at a later date. Either way its going to cost us big time. Whatever.... but that page I listed was Rueters, not the Telegraph.
