  1. Lets face it, if the sums of money that will eventually be spent building this monstrous white elephant were spent on local trasportation it would benefit millions instead of a few hundred. I've said before and I'll say it again. If your going to try and waste such a vast amount of public money on something so pointless, especially when the country's power supply and distribution is in such a desperate neglected state and needs billions spending on it, the public should get the chance to vote on it.
  2. emmmmmm the info comes from Reuters.............
  3. A very intersting article in the Telegraph the other day. A similar high speed route to HS2 built in Holland has seen hardly any passengers, and in an attempt to force passengers to use it the existing intercity trains have been slowed down. However their (decent) passenger users comittee has taken the state railways to court and won and forced the old timetable to be reintroduced. Now so few people use the high speed route its not even paying the interest on the loans to build it. Why do I feel the same will happen to our 100+billion HS2, but because we are spineless the change to reduce and slow the trains on the WCML will be allowed to go ahead unchallenged? Heres some more info about the Dutch line http://www.reuters.c...E71025P20110201

Thanks again Dave..you had me worried for a minute! Hopefully the shop will pull their socks up and actually send me D6320!

Hang on a minute! Are those production numbers right Dave? The place I ordered a CL22 from has D1000C as D6320. If they have it wrong, no wonder I haven't got one. I really wanted D6320, as it was the only (unofficial) named one Jim

Well I hope you have better luck than me in getting one. Whats the score here? are there only like 100 of each number?
  9. We've discussed this over sarnies whilst working on D8233 and I put forwards that that panel had been removed from a full yellow end 15 and put on that. If it was done as a trial to make them more visable or just buggerment (its the sort of thing I'd do! ), or accident..who knows?
  10. Possiably, but they have shied away from passenger stock sofar, and that makes me think they might exhaust locomotive possiabilities first. Time will tell!

Are these models been built one number at a time and then shipped? The model I ordered has now been changed and I need to reorder. The next green with small yellow pannel number would be nice so I don't have to wait much longer. Also is a green with full yellows in the pipeline? Cheers Jim

As far as I know (I'll ask Tids when I see him next) the transmissions wont be touched. Theres a bit of a shortage of Voiths anyway! One of Prince's is in Champion! Also I believe that 832 is sitting on 818s bogies, but them did 818 keep the same bogies all her life?

    Dapol Class 22

Woot woot!!!! Nore me! Not sure how long it will be though, theres quite a queue for the workshops at Bury, and its not a simple engine out/engine in job. A new driveshaft amongst other things is needed. But it will happen!
  18. Wow! the detail on those is increadable, truely masterpieces in minature. I'm not a huge fan of the teak colour thought, it looks far too red to me, it doesn't have that rich brown that varnished teak has. The quality of the painting/printing however its done is amazing on the other hand, looking very closely they have even got the individual grains in. I daren't even look to see how expensive these must be!

I thought that was the case. Is it known why they were NBL and not Swindon ones?

    Dapol Class 22

The 1st engine is, although its an ex 22 or 43 engine, it has virtually zero hours since its last rebuild. I'm not sure where the second engine is, I know that Tids and co were a bit unsure about it as it has bits missing off it which might take some replacing! It might get bought and stripped for spares for the other engine. I'll ask Tids next time I speak to him what the score is. I do believe that 832 has NBL cooling and grills already? I'm sure I read that somewhere.... I did suggest a new 42/43 in the Bachmann section, but if Dave's listening.......????
  21. Good shot that, it shows the higher running board of the class 16.

Phil I wasn't aware that the MAN engines had any form of piston cooling at all, and was one of the issues that was never addressed by Swindon in their attempts to improve engine life and reliability? And yes new exhaust ports will be made on 832. Theres still an outside chance she'll get a pair of NBL-MANs, depends on the second engine getting purchased, and what condition its in. Hopefully they will have original MAN cast exhaust manifolds instead of the NBL fabricated steel ones which regularly split with dire consequences!

I have to disagree there. MAN engines sounded far softer, more akin to idling Paxman Valentas than the Maybachs which have a very definite growl. Internally they are totaly different, different turbos and very different injection systems.
  24. Well done Steve, thats a very good bit of weathering. Really looks the part. Thanks for posting!
  25. You'd have thought with the scrapping of class 21s at the time, BR would have swapped its bogie out for a good one off a 21. What a crazy waste of money!
