  1. Some good sectorisation era footage of Class 73s here, including running on the diesel engine and a pair seen at Exeter and Dawlish: And something a little bit older: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=Wb-RNeZpI6Q
  2. This was posted by Metr0Land over in the London Undergound section, but I thought it was worth putting it here as well: Class 205 in NSE livery at Watford: https://www.flickr.com/photos/keith-v/8051392658/in/pool-993434@N21/ For discussion in the LU section, see: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/66405-thumper-at-watford/

You'll notice! Not a 27, but 3 x Class 45s with just the one tail light: Peak of perfection? by delticfan, on Flickr However, two can be true to prototype as well!: St. Pancras Stock Variety HR scan by Deepgreen2009, on Flickr
  4. 47500 in better days. I assume it'll be heading for the scrap merchant now. BR Class 47 47500, Acton Main Line Station, 8th. May 1987. by Crewcastrian, on Flickr
  5. Not just clearing up, but clearing up after a train that shouldn't have even been there in the normal course of things! I bet they were happy . . . Worth heading to the Flickr page to read a description of the incident. We're off the road! by 70023venus2009, on Flickr

    Heljan Class 27

I can't give you an answer as I don't own a Class 27. However, if you mean they are dim, it's worth bearing in mind that they always were on the prototype (and this wasn't limited to Class 27s), unlike today's LED lights. With all my locos, I turn the lights down to the dimmest CV value settings and I will also disconnect one of the tail lights as only one was used. If you do want them brighter, have you tried changing the lighting CV value upwards? If you are using a Version 4 sound decoder, make sure you follow instructions for doing this, otherwise you can affect other CV values.

    Heljan Class 27

The description given with the picture says ". . . here we see D5371 and D5370 departing from Neville Hill Leeds with a train of empty steel bolsters for Tees Yard 18th April 1962. . . ", so looks like they were active on a train in service. The publisher has also posted a picture of the same thing on Class 25s on the same working, this time on March 21st, 1962. Again, the information given says that the train is departing, not just stabled: Neville Hill East, Leeds. by cabsaab900, on Flickr
  8. For people interested in the earlier liveries, there's some footage in this 1991 Newcastle video of Class 143s in the original Provincial livery. Go to 4:45 and 7:20: Regional Railways (including Metro Train red) in this 1990 video, together with lots of other Railbus footage. See the 143s and 144s from 2:00:

  11. Three videos on YouTube of Class 85s, two of 85018 on ECS duties at Manchester Piccadilly in 1991 and one of 85015 at Edge Hill in 1990 (can be seen from 0:19):
  12. According to this website (which also gives a history of bubblecars in Scotland), it lasted until "around 1988": http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/page/Class+122
  13. Glad they've clarified the NSE liveries. I've changed to the original one as it will definitely fit into my era. There don't seem to be that many pictures of 121s in the original NSE. Here's two I've found, both 55022 that Dapol/Hatton's will be doing: http://martianphotography.smugmug.com/RecentImages/1980s-New-Scans/27070783_Z2pBhR#!i=2284858538&k=qs8dgvP BR Class 121 "Bubble Car" W55022, in NSE colours, near Acton on 16th. 14. Class 122 leaving Okehampton, May 1968 and a pair in the Okehampton bay in October 1965 (see near bottom of page, ref BM00517 and BM00522): http://classictractionimages.weebly.com/okehampton---coleford-junction.html Class 121s in the 1970s: http://www.flickr.com/photos/grrrbpool/5059634068/ and seen in the 1970s at http://classictractionimages.weebly.com/okehampton---coleford-junction.html
  15. Some interesting pictures of Class 122s: At Gara Bridge, hauling a fish van, in 1963 (see bottom of the page): http://classictractionimages.weebly.com/kingsbridge-branch.html For Scottish Region modellers, the 122s made it to Eastfield: Class 122, TDB977177 (ex 55015) 'Sandra' at Eastfield depot by blackwatch55013, on Flickr Class 122 - Eastfield by Intercity126, on Flickr
  16. Can we take it that you've taken this one apart to make accurate measurements for an OO version?
  17. This definitely shows how taking the time to produce a top quality model can reap rewards for the manufacturer; I am determined to have a much smaller collection of models than I've had in the past and this wouldn't have made the purchase list, but the quality of this DMU has swayed me to purchase one when released in an appropriate livery (Regional Railways) Justification to run it would be "new unit on test"! Now, about an OO gauge Class 142 in chocolate and cream . . .
  18. According to the website linked to below (see the second picture from the top), the route learner 122 was still in blue livery in 1993 for those who want to use it in a later period. It had acquired a headlight by then: http://www.penmorfa.com/Archive/fifteen.htm And seen between 1989 and 1992 in the following links: http://www.flickr.com/photos/67444577@N02/6980388745/ http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3155/2685047104_d980aa1d76.jpg Class 122 Railcar 975023 by Treflyn, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7132/7522988450_e8a8e81d5e.jpg 975023 Barley Mow 14-2-92 by vincentminto, on Flickr
  19. For anyone with a sectorisation or early privatisation era layout who fancies a green Class 121 with SYP, 55023 was running around in this livery: http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4021/4210704829_1d0beea31f.jpg 121023 (55023) 1993-09-25 Wolverton Works by Banbury Bob, on Flickr And some footage of it on YouTube:
  20. That's the Class 121. I'm after a weathered 122 in blue/grey. Dapol only seem to be doing one of these in non-weathered version; I'm hoping someone has just forgotten to add the weathered version to the list.
  21. Excellent news from Dapol; this was one of the missing DMUs to modern spec for my Bromley to Willesden services. A few questions for DapolDave before I place my pre-orders: 1) Hatton's Class 121 55033 in Network SouthEast livery: I have seen pictures of this with a large headcode box at the non-exhaust end and a Class 122-style destination box at the exhaust end (e.g. http://www.hondawand...ckwell_1992.htm; http://www.wmbusphot...s121/55033.html). Will the Dapol version have the large headcode at both ends? 2) Have the details of the NSE livery been finalised, e.g. light or dark NSE blue, will it have a specific NSE route logo, will details such as OLE flashes be to pre- or post-privatisation NSE spec etc? 3) Has anyone commissioned a weathered Class 122 in blue/grey? I've had a good look through the lists but can't see this option. Thanks in advance.

I've been on the website and pre-ordered 504, just in case.

    Hornby 2 BIL

Oops, that'll teach me to pay more attention! Guess I'll have to wait for the late 1980s livery with full yellow ends or justify using a really beaten-up blue version. I'll leave the picture of 014 in place but edit the comment.
  24. BR(S)

    Hornby 2 BIL

Thought this was converted from a 2-BIL but has been pointed out below it was converted from a 4-SUB. I'll leave the picture up as it's of interest anyway: kent - de-icer 014 gillingham 76 JL by johnmightycat1, on Flickr Seen at Lovers Walk, Brighton here: http://www.transport...ages/2BIL-1.htm Edited to correct picture information.

    Hornby 2 BIL

Further to this, from what I've seen on the Internet, the NRM 2-BIL appears to be in BR(S) green, but the 80s 2-BIL seems to be in olive green. So yellow ends on the NRM edition wouldn't work for the 1980s livery.
