  1. Now that DapolDave is now DJM Dave, we may not get an answer soon.

  4. This was a problem seen in the several that I used to own, with at least one per loco breaking.
  5. 16 tonners in this shot, but I'm actually using it to promote this superb photo collection!: http://www.railpixtc.co.uk/80sArchive/1980-1984/1982/i-JJ3qTZ9

    Hornby 2 BIL

Nice 2-BIL pictures from 1969 (and another collection well worth looking through): http://www.railpixtc.co.uk/80sArchive/1980-1984/1981/i-JmS93DX http://www.railpixtc.co.uk/80sArchive/1980-1984/1982/i-knhwNXd
  7. 20228 with the unusual nose end: 1986-11-16 - 20228 at Carstairs by VV773, on Flickr
  8. I've been seeing a lot of pictures of Class 20s with 16t mineral wagons, not a class I associate with these freight flows and especially not when the 20s are in BR blue with TOPS numbers. A selection below of some of the more atmospheric. http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/8259910009/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/8644293327/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/7800803070/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/5537902634/ 1979-07-06-005 by Michael Laing, on Flickr 1979-07-06-006 by Michael Laing, on Flickr And this one's included as it shows a double-header 20 with both running nose first: http://www.flickr.com/photos/56249446@N06/7888248740/
  9. It's the black backing plate that makes them look smaller and really improves the model. That's part of the reason I went with an Intercity liveried one with black light surrounds (see post #433, page 18).
  10. Seven young spotters here cabbing 40124 in 1983 from time point 4:36. I wonder if the pictures taken by the last one to leave ended up on here!
  11. A couple of Mark 2 coaches are seen at Bromley North awaiting passengers for the next Willesden Junction service. Coach E9400 and its partner 5410 were previously allocated to Norwich Crown Point. E9400 was wired for the Edinburgh to Glasgow push/pull services. These coaches will now end their days, unloved, on these south-east to north-west inner suburban London services.

  15. The single 16 tonner near the signalbox is the justification for posting this excellent image!: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96859208@N07/9338635120/
  16. At the front end, regardless of No 1 or 2 end, it would have both marker lights on at the top and one headlight on, either day (right hand light, i.e. nearest one to oncoming trains) or night (left hand light, i.e. nearest one to the cess). This website might be of use: http://www.traintesting.com/Class_89.htm Some Flickr pictures with day and night headlights and 2 x marker lights on: Night head light: Class 89 by midland.road, on Flickr Day headlight: Class 89 by midland.road, on Flickr Night headlight: Class 89 89001 by Wildmoreway (http://www.ipernity.com/doc/300665)[/url], on Flickr Tail lights: Class 89 by midland.road, on Flickr
  17. I've been photoshopping this picture for quite a while. A Class 47 ticks over at Bromley North under a threatening autumn sky.
  18. Some more shots of this Class 165 in Devon here: http://www.dawlishtrains.com/165001-visits-devon.html

  20. Loving the new scenic work. A small amount of Waverley West footage here from 1:40 during the ScotRail era (and some excellent Scotland footage up to 1:40 as well):
  21. Did someone just say "Bromley North"?! Bit too big for my layout though. Is that the lamp hut on the left of this picture, now boarded up? (on closer inspection, it may be a TP Hut): 466014 - Southeastern - Bromley North - 130613 (2) by Martin Clitheroe, on Flickr

    Dapol 'Western'

Don't know if these have been posted before, but some good quality Western shots here, including one at King's Cross: http://neilgibson.smugmug.com/Guestphotographers-1/The-Dave-Stacey-Collection/Westerns/17908109_SNTHTR#!i=1368045772&k=trp6J6J Worth looking at the rest of the collection as well.
  23. One of my favourite Skegness pictures (not mine): 20s rule by Auchlander, on Flickr
  24. Have you put the photo in #228 in the realistic models thread (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/67-how-realistic-are-your-models-photo-challenge/page-66&do=findComment&comment=1141560)? It deserves as wide an audience as possible. As well as fantastic modelling (right down to the correct blue colours!), it oozes South Wales atmosphere in the sectorisation years.
