  1. Morning, after heavy rain overnight its sunny here with a slight breeze. I have a couple of intricate tasks to do in the shed on a certain model however decided to pass today as I'm not in the mood. I will run a couple of locos instead and leave that for another day. As for the rugby I did think the ref should have clamped down earlier than he did but I agree with grandad bob I though the sending off was a bit harsh. Enjoy your day Alan
  2. Afternoon, Its been good here today weather wise so a garden tidy up took place. One major job was to replace the poly tunnel as the recent gales managed to play havoc ripping it in several places. So the old one was taken off and a replacement was fitted. Brownie points galore and a very satisfied other half. Me just knackered ! A nice glass or two of red will be consumed later on I think! Enjoy the rest of the day Alan
  3. Afternoon, As per above happy belated birthday Ian! Well Grandson and parents departed this morning, I had forgotten what having a 8 week old was like! Needless to say we are having a quiet afternoon after cleaning up etc this morning. I might venture into the shed for an hour we will see how it goes. Quite windy outside at the moment but its not raining! Enjoy what's left of the day Alan
  4. Morning, Very busy here at Shedman Towers, yesterday I managed to visit the Preston exhibition ( there for when the doors opened) and get back to greet to meet my 8 week old grandson making his first trip north. Youngest son has arrived so it a full house and lots going on. Its going to be very quiet from Tuesday lunchtime onwards here. Enjoy your day everyone Alan
  5. Afternoon, Very wet and windy outside, non stop rain all morning and still throwing it down. Food supplies obtained this morning, my 8 week old grandson and his parents are arriving tomorrow for a four day stay but we seem to have purchased enough supplies for 10 days at least! I have endured a clean up of the house of epic proportions just short of re decorating every room! Things are not in the same place anymore it seems. Thankfully it has not included the shed! Like Tony I am not fussed over adverts on here, yet I do wonder how the system works , no interest in buying a boat and never expressed one yet had an ad the other day for ship supplies? Oh well as I dare not touch anything indoors its off to the shed to make a mess! Enjoy the day Alan
  6. Like others I have the ad/s on the right hand side of the screen, currently only one Gillian Anderson for Winser London! Could be worse I suppose! Alan
  7. Afternoon, well its not raining at the moment but it really chucked in down last night with roads closed due to the water etc. Indeed my visit to the dentist this morning took twice as long. A small filling took place and no pain felt, I was to busy imaging my dentist in another world say no more. She is attractive but more importantly a good dentist so its win win! It is my plan to visit the shed later on depending on any instructions/tasks etc from my other half. Enjoy your day folks and be safe Alan
  8. Congratulations STH! Welcome to the most expensive club in the world ie parenthood! A nice Sunday lunch out have been had and back in time to watch the rugby, a new decoder ordered as one has fried as they say but onwards and upwards and now its time to read the papers with a nice glass of wine! Enjoy what's left of the day! Alan
  9. Visited yesterday after travelling from Preston, I had not been for 5 years due to various factors, really enjoyed it, thought there were some fabulous layouts and enjoyed my day without damaging my wallet to much! Will certainly look to going again next year. Alan
  10. Morning, blue sky ! No rain ! Still have a strong wind though. Absent yesterday so lots to catch up on due to my visit to Model Rail Scotland. It was a really good day and a very nice cooked breakfast was had courtesy of Avanti West Coast. I purchased one or two bits but refrained from buying a O gauge loco which was on offer, very tempting I must say. Exchanged pleasantries with Mick ( New Bryford) who seemed to be busy on the stand and met a couple of other RMWebbers though they do not post on this site. So a good day in all some excellent layouts which I guess don't venture south of the border much. Well worth doing and will do it again next year. A few bills to pay this morning ,general admin stuff and the shed this afternoon well thats the plan we will see. Enjoy your day folks Alan
  11. Hmm glad this is today and not tomorrow! Though the forecast is not good oh well we will see if I make Glasgow! Due to heavy flooding between Carlisle and Lancaster lines are blocked until further notice. There are rail replacement buses between Preston and Carlisle. Please check your journey before travelling here: https://avantiwestcoast.co.uk/live
  12. Morning, Firstly Happy Birthday ChrisF Heavy rain and wind prevail at the moment and looks like its in for a few hours more. Quiet day today other half out to have her hair done and then lunch with friends so left to my own devices as they say. Off to model rail Scotland tomorrow courtesy of Avanti West Coast well thats the plan just hope the weather does not play havoc with my plans for the day. Enjoy your day folks! Alan
  13. Morning, Grey cloud prevails but its dry at the moment. Off to the dentist for a hygienist appt later this morning. Alas its not the beautiful dentist I see who is well worth the pain endured! However that will be rectified on Monday as I have an appointment with her for a check up. Have been given a small list of provisions to obtain on the way back other than that its going to be a quiet day I think. Enjoy yours Alan
  14. Morning, dry here but we still have a strong wind. Excused from shopping duties today as I spent yesterday tidying up the garage and four trips to the tip had to be made. To be honest I was a bit knackered last night old age slowly starting creep in I think. A few bills to pay today and some emails to send other than that it will be a leisurely existence today. I have my shopping list ready for Model Rail Scotland on Friday which I am looking forward to. So enjoy your day maybe back later. Alan
  15. Afternoon, Back late last night after a couple of days away, no damage here as far as I can see. Its quiet outside, no rain and a gentle breeze long may it continue. The garden is sodden though, think I might enter the moss growing championships this year as I think I stand a good chance of winning! Full English breakfast not had one for a long time, reminded though of when I was in my early twenties and I had to drive to Whitehaven a lot for work, on the way I use to stop at the Little Chef at Penrith and have a full English ! something I did look forward to hurtling up the M6 lol! The plan is to spend some time in the shed this afternoon and have a lazy day. Enjoy what's left of the day folks Alan
  16. Morning, dry and sunny here, the wind has calmed down a bit thank goodness. We await Storm Dennis on Saturday which means a modelling day as we won't be going anywhere though it is forecast to be less severe than it has been recently. Otherwise not a lot to report. So Enjoy your day folks Alan
  17. I use Tacky Wax which works fine and allows me to reposition if I want them with ease. Alan
  18. Afternoon , Cold ,windy but dry here. A slight chance of waking up to snow tomorrow according to the weather people but I doubt it. Neighbours felt roof got ripped off his shed yesterday in the wind so glad I went for box metal sheets a few years ago. Other than that not much to report. Enjoy the rest of the day Alan
  19. Afternoon, After torrential rain which has seen the road to the next village become inpassable due to flood water the sun is now out and blue sky prevails. However that has not stopped the wind which seems to be getting stronger. It was nice and toasty in the shed this morning as I ran a few trains as I tend to do on a Sunday morning. Time now for the morning papers crossword etc and a glass of something to keep me company. Enjoy what's left of the day and be safe Alan
  20. Morning, dry and sunny alas its food shopping first, then however its the model shop and then Halfords. Will be back later. Enjoy your day Alan
  21. Afternoon, a nice sunny day here in the North West today, yesterday was not to bad either, we made up a couple of flasks and nipped up to the Lake District and had a very nice 7 mile walk. The pub meal on the way back was well deserved in my opinion! A few jobs done today and my new pressure washer arrived however I did not take the bait from my other half when she suggested I try it out by washing her car! Might try it out tomorrow afternoon we will see, if I do I can bet it will rain afterwards. Enjoy what's left of the day. Alan
  22. Afternoon, absent for a couple of days due to a couple of household jobs not going plan. Even my other half had some sympathy! Anyway all done and brownie points earned as they say. Need to catch up on here and elsewhere so might be back later. Enjoy your evening Alan. Latvian it is a madhouse!
  23. Thanks for clearing the TV issue up, it would have been the 1965 series I watched, by 1973 I was interested in other things!! Alan
  24. Lovely model, I still have the book Para Handy Tales by Neil Munro ( Hugh Foulis ) which my dad bought for me in Oban in 1966. I seem to recall a TV series was made not 100% sure on that. Alan
  25. Afternoon, well its just stopped raining after downpours all morning, all jobs done and sorted so time in the shed beckons unless last min orders are issued. Thought about going to Stafford tomorrow but decided against it , need to save modelling tokens for Scotrail also my local model shop has a 25% (not locos) sale on and a visit yesterday did a bit of damage to the fund! Yesterday was nice and sunny, my neighbour mowed his front lawn hmm its not even February yet there must be a law against such practice if not there needs to be!!! Enjoy the rest of the day Alan
