  1. Cricket ball pain? Try men's hockey if the ball didn't hit you on occasions then an opponents hockey stick would definitely do so!
  2. I am fortunate to have a good local model shop to visit though I do buy via the internet. Recently for scenery supplies I have used a couple of war gaming sites, when I was working which involved a lot of travel I visited many model shops some of which set the location for meetings! Sadly one by one they have disappeared over time.
  3. The RMweb gold bit had passed me by, after having a look I wont be taking the offer up at this point in time in the future who knows. Will be interesting to see the take up and how it develops further in the future though. Gold/Silver/Bronze membership levels? Forgot Platinum level!!
  4. Number one gets my vote.
  5. Hi I thought I would pop in to congratulate all on 7,500 pages of Early Risers. A landmark sadly marred though by the news of Mal. I have not been around for about 15/16 months all railway stuff took a backseat whilst I project managed a house build for one of my sons. An interesting experience to say the least which at the end of the wife and I went away for a long (3 months) trip around Asia. Chasing up electricians and plumbers is a thing of the past thankfully. During this period we finally sorted our rogue Greek Cypriot brother in law out, those of you around a couple of years might recall we had problems with him regarding the mother in laws money. Cypriot justice might be slow but we got there in the end!! All sorted thank goodness. So it’s back to normality and the world of model railways though I have not forgotten we are not supposed to mention such things on here. Finally I am not encountering any problems logging in nor loading posts as some people seem to be having!! a note to myself to look in and post on here more often has been made. Enjoy the rest of the day Alan
  6. Her name is Katie Piper and if you google her you will see that she had sulphuric acid thrown over her face a few years back and is still receiving treatment!
  7. Morning, blue sky and sunshine here, workmen have just arrived to continue the paving/new drive project. Not much else to say except enjoy your day and happy birthday Don.
  8. Morning, started off grey and cloudy but now breaking up and the sun starting to make an apperance. All go here as we decided to have some of the back lawn taken up and the patio extended along with the drive being resurfaced. Thus workmen (5) all over the place thankfully other half has decided she will make them a brew which saves me a job. Looking forward to having it all done, which is supposed to be a five day job but I reckon its 6 to 7 we will see. Enjoy your day folks
  9. Morning, Back after a nice break overseas, so congratulations and commiserations as appropriate as I have missed ten days worth of posts. Its been a interesting break as we had no internet/tv/radio ( which we knew before hand) or newspapers just sunshine, books and lots of good food. I certainly have not missed all the politics/election news! Grey here now after sunshine earlier this morning feeling a bit chilly in my opinion but the lawns need mowing and then hopefully time in the shed. Enjoy your day folks
  10. Afternoon, now cloudy with a strong breeze and much cooler. Sad to pick up on the news from Debs over the weekend, sometimes there seems to be no justice in these matters. A busy weekend was had, spent mainly in the garden then picking our youngest up yesterday as he is house sitting for a week while we spend some time in the sunshine. The downside to a week in the sun and hopefully a politics free week will be the airport tomorrow morning! Flying is not as much fun as it used to be but never mind. Enjoy the rest of the day folks
  11. Morning, a genuine Max Sievert, needs cleaning up, I have a smaller one somewhere in the garage. My late fathers obviously who swore by them
  12. Morning, the sun is trying to make an appearance here, I am not sure how I did it but I have escaped the supermarket visit this morning. I do have to go to the garden centre ( with a diversion to the local model shop planned) to get a couple of things one being weedkiller. I must reflect on my drive how I achieved this or is there a motive yet to come to light behind me being excused! Enjoy the day folks
  13. Morning, grey with a light drizzle of rain at the moment, enough in my opinion to abandon any outside jobs today. A lazy day planned after yesterdays countryside ramble which featured a very nice pub lunch along with a couple of pints. We wont be venturing far over the weekend which means some good modeling time is in the offing, kids around here go back to school on Tuesday so normality resumes shortly. Enjoy your day folks
  14. Morning, cool with a breeze here but its dry so cannot complain to much. The weekend was one of major gardening on both days, all tasks completed to the satisfaction of the boss. Slightly knackered today if I am being honest, so its a pottering about day with this afternoon in the shed. Enjoy the day folks
  15. Morning, blue sky and sunshine prevail here, sad to hear the news re Ed and can only agree with comments posted here and elsewhere. Enjoy your day folks
  16. Afternoon, all lawns mowed etc thats me done for the day at least the weekend will be garden free. Came in for a cup of tea turned the telly on and discovered the sad events in Sweden. Oh well a hour or so later running trains in the shed beckons. As per Tonys post above schools around here the same Enjoy whats left of the day
  17. Afternoon, Just arrived back after an enjoyable fortnight away in the sunshine, lawns now need to be mowed however that can wait till tomorrow as I plan to spend some time in the shed with a couple of new train items which arrived the day before I left. Given the posts above about the saga in rural France catching up on that will be high in the pecking order of things to do certainly above mowing the lawns! Off to the supermarket now oh joy but needs must with an empty fridge. Enjoy whats left of the day folks
  18. Afternoon, its stopped raining which I suppose is good news! Busy day shopping etc which saw me purchase a new shredder as the old one had given up the ghost thus I have just reduced the shredding pile considerably. This was after my kerfuffle with Waitrose this morning, I purchased an item (amongst other things) on offer reduced from £20 to £10, on return home I noticed that my till receipt showed said item at £20. This was pure luck as I dont normally check the receipt so it was off back to Waitrose, before I went to customer services I went back to the display in question to see that I had not made a mistake and in big letters it said offer reduced from £20 to £10. The customer service assistant (male) scanned the item and said no its £20 you have made a mistake, you probably picked up the wrong bag err no I have just been and checked! He called for a customer assistant to come to the desk so they could go and check, whilst waiting he said maybe the offer had been withdrawn and the price was correct on the computer system but they had not got around to changing the display yet. I gave him my view on that scenario and suggested he checked the legal aspect. A nice lady came and off we went to the display and yes I was correct and the offer was still in force, on the way back I got an off the record comment that you should always check your receipts as this happens a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well! at least I got my £10 Enjoy the rest of the day
  19. Afternoon, not a lot to report, back lawns mowed for the first time using the highest setting. Nice to see the sun along with a very pleasant gentle breeze. Forecast is to be dry and sunny tomorrow we will see. Belated birthday wishes Neil Enjoy the rest of the day folks
  20. Morning, list of jobs to get done before I sit down and watch the Rugby this afternoon. Grey but dry here at the moment. Enjoy your day folks
  21. Morning, blue sky and sunshine at the moment but more importantly its not raining. Our Hawthorn hedge is starting to flower, no gardening today as everything is soaked from the recent weather. Not sure whats happening here yet but enjoy your day folks
  22. Afternoon, dry and bright here, decided to pop in to the Preston Model Railway Exhibition a much better choice than mowing lawns I thought. Met newbryford (mick) at the Towcester layout and BSW01 (Brian) at the same time, nice to put a face to the names. Only minor damage to the wallet today! really enjoyed the exhibition. Enjoy the rest of the day folks
  23. Afternoon, woke up to sunshine this morning, blue sky etc what a shock no rain. So it was out for a longish walk and a pub lunch which was enjoyable. Happy birthday Ian, it was mine on Monday so I was told, I tend not to bother 18th and 21st I did but at 50 decided thats it just another day, now 60 plus I am just pleased when I wake up in the morning and all limbs function lol! thus every day has become a special day. Enjoy whats left of this one
