  1. I despair of "exhibition" layouts that feature locos without them or drivers (steam locos with no one of the footplate look stupid) .
  2. I've added crew and the pipes on the driving ends, as can be seen.
  3. Yes, on Hornby chassis. 18000 came via Hattons Pre-used about a year ago for a very reasonable £112, and 18100 RTR direct from Silver Fox this week.
  4. As time marches on, several blue liveried diesels have been withdrawn and replaced by large logo ones. MetroVick 18100 was reinstated for a couple of railtours (after its ill-fated AC incarnation)…….
  5. I bought it last year for £40 largely as it is, though it has given me the idea to turn my 2nd 2-6-0 2MT into a 78xxx a lot cheaper than Hornby want for their upcoming one.
  6. I have a Bachmann Ivatt 2MT that is mostly converted to an 84xxx (cab profile is incorrect). I enclose some snaps for dimensions (handily they are in the display cabinet whilst it's 1985 on the layout)
  7. Thanks for that. Lovely loco, which I've enjoyed riding behind a few times:
  8. West Clare No5 was restored to full working order by Keefs near Monmouth a few years ago, and is seen in service at Moyasta Junction on the West Clare, on 5th June 2012. Very friendly, running on demand on a very wet day (we'd arrived in a heatwave the previous weekend). My daughter, seen with me on the footplate, turned 13 yesterday. Where does the time go?
  9. The first batch of Oxford radials had problems with adhesion on uneven track, with the drivers not actually in contact with rails at times on my layout (where nothing else had problems at all), so it was sold. The later batches are better. My 488 LSWR livery one runs fine. I have two BR black Hornby ones which have a bit more finesse about the finish, run very well (and run well as a pair on DC, though that can't be guaranteed for all pairs).
  10. Got awfully confused on my first viewing. The sounds were all over the place...then I realised that I also had a YouTube Class 56 film playing in the background.....Very impressed and looking forward to my non-sound fitted one.
  11. I use Springside lamps (yes, they look over scale, but the handles are flimsy enough as it is), with a tiny blob of Tacky Wax to fix them in place. Works quite well.

    A few cameos

Bought a few odds and ends recently, and have had fun putting them into the landscape, oh and another Class 47 arrived. I've also fitted passengers and crew to my 4-TC, but they don't show up too well in photos.
  13. Yes, I've recently seen a photo of it, probably in one of the Strathwood books...
