  1. That's not the one I was thinking of but it looks even more alike than the one I was thinking of
  2. Makes me think think of a class of australian loco though it will take me a while to work out which so hopefully someone with more knowledge will also see that and tell you all which one
  3. This has been a very informative thread, being a regular buyer of second-hand but only sold a very small amount. After my grandfather passed, some years ago now, my father (who is not a modeller himself) was left with his collection, I've had the railway items and a large portion of his library. The thing is he left a lot of diecast buses, an awful lot of diecast buses! Which my father has been meaning to sell for at least 15 years and the sentimental value has now very much been replaced by annoyance to the fact that they're just in the way (though I'm sure we'll both still be sad to see them go when they eventually do). I've had any that are 1/76 and a handful of others but now we're investigating what offers we can get from dealers such as hattons as we neither of us really have time to sell privately. Does anyone know of anywhere that might be better suited to handling a bus collection?
  4. Off for a running session, time to give the new Super D a spin

It had certainly begun to list

I'd certainly be interested to know exactly what happened, doesn't seem likely to have been an engine failure. Was the watch paying attention? Did they drag the anchor?

  7. I used a cocktail stick, it took a bit to get it started but when it started going it was reasonably easy, I left a few very light scuffs but otherwise removed them very cleanly. The new plates hide it all anyway
  8. I've given that a like but I really now think that there should be a wow button! (Mr Y if you're reading this) That looks amazing, the hut is weathered to perfection and the wasteland looks so natural, it's not overdone or too tidy!
  9. Here is mine with its newly arrived nameplates, I have works plates too and while the build date on the works plates is past the date the W4s finished production it is of personal significance (though the text is so small I may be the only one who'd know anyway) Lizzie Mary

  12. Marine paint us pretty horrible stuff! Whether it's old red lead or even new paint none of it is even remotely good for you! My second H1 is lovely, no paint issues and runs like an absolute dream! Sits lovely alongside my C1 and H2, a very interesting family line!
  13. Here we are, almost looks like a grey primer has been very gently wafted over the cabside and running plate Thanks Rhys
  14. I picked mine up today, it's going back tomorrow. On the right hand cabsibe is a grey overspray (or is it undercoat showing through?) So it's going for a swap, other than that it looks lovely and I still commend Bachmann for a loco that looks amazing! (On the left-hand side at least )
  15. Is slowly falling victim to the lure of getting a project car, the last thing I need is another expensive hobby...

  16. I believe (though I haven't checked) that Narrow planet do them, etched to order to match three loco of you're choice. Theirs doing me a set of works plates for the H1 Usual disclaimer and all that, no connection satisfied customer etc Thanks Rhys
  17. Walked home in a hurry to calm the dog after the fireworks display only to find him asleep as peacefully as ever, snoring away... on the sofa which he's not allowed on unless invited, should tell him off but it's very cute

I feed dogunit outside (she's a messy eater), the last 2 nights she's gone out for food while neighbours have been letting off fire works and she could not care about them less, tea time is far more exciting!

  18. Well my first peckett went back to the shop today, weak whistle, chimney definitely not sat square and after an hour or so of running stopped dead and refused to move on dcc or analogue. Replaced with no fuss and a new one tested and running lovely. Hornby have done a cracking job making a lovely looking model though perhaps this latest batch aren't running as smoothly as the earlier ones. Etched name and works plates on order from narrow planet, while the works plates are dated after W4 construction ceased it all has a personal relevance to the name. I'll share some photos when they're fitted
  19. Had no idea that a Hornby Maunsell 4 compartment brake in BR Green had so much in common with Unicorn excrement. Both seem excessively rare at a price below extortionate

  20. Hello everyone North Quay is not dead, just after a while with limited funds I then found myself getting very busy at work and haven't really had the time to model as much as I'd wanted. I have had a couple of birthday/early Christmas present though for the layout. The resident shunter, a Peckett for which I have name and works plates on order from narrow planet and a Dapol B4 which will also be a regular. I have also double the depth of the inland leg of the layout to 20 inches to ease some of the space constraints faced by the first layout and allow the addition of some more scenic areas Thanks Rhys
  21. Bachmann Thomas items tend to scale out closer to OO than HO, I beleive this was also the case for the Skarloey, more 009 than HO-e
  22. Yep, still got the numbers, I'm wondering whether I remove them but I don't have a matching red in case I mess it up!There is still a second bogie frame but both have NEM pockets, two minutes with pair of flushcut snips and a file and all it left was an unobtrusive black mark hidden behind the coupling. Rhys
  23. Hi Neil I'm certainly not local but if you want to drop it in the post, I have access to a lathe and would be happy to look at boring it out for you. Drop me a PM if you're interested, no worries if not Rhys
  24. Some lovely! I spent this morning fitting the details and I'm very happy! Rhys
  25. I think the mouldings are about the same however it looks like the H2 has had thicker paint applied to it than the C1, either way my C1 springs definitely look sharper as a whole than my H2 As a firm LNER man with the GWR coming a very close 2nd I would usually put the Southern behind the LMS but I think I prefer this H2 to the C1 there's just something I can't quite put my finger on Thanks Rhys
