  1. I love the application of the early GWR structure colours, it looks spot on for the period photos with dark window sashes and doors. David
  2. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/52409-blogentry-5869-0-67722200-1358517373-thumb1/ This model seems to have been painted in the early structure colours with chocolate windows and doors and to my mind looks spot on, and entirely different to how the later period stone colours were applied. David
  3. I thought the J50/4 had a different cab profile to the J50/3
  4. I think the pony wheels need swapping round the bigger one should be under the bunker.
  5. No problem unpainted that's the way I prefer them.
  6. We have been having a major rethink on our model of Aylesbury, as originally planned it was going to be end to end but have since thought of making it roundy roundy adding the Met bays etc. We have added nine inches to the side of the current boards. One of those involved with the project has suggested that we build brand new baseboards all at once and transfer the track we build on it ply base to the new boards. We could also avoid a baseboard joint through one of the waiting rooms. I have since acquired a couple of different large scale plans which were scanned and imported into AutoCAD with the track plan then drawn over the top. Without compression it works out around eighteen feet scenic section plus we need to add return loops either end I was looking at around five feet radius. The viewing side is to the top of the plan.
  7. Here is the up waiting room painted, it needs the top capping stones to the walls but these will be added once the canopies are built. The doors which are seen in previous photos are going to be remade as I forgot to design in the door frames as separate items.
  8. Another view of the footbridge I am not too sure of the exact date of the bow string bridge top to the birdcage top we are modelling but I think it was around 1955ish David
  9. I have a copy of that photo, it has appeared in a few books too, I think it was taken in 1954/55 before the line was extended through the back of the engine shed. and the replacement of the water tank and the new iron work on the bridge.
  10. The public footbridge for the north end of the station being built by Gary one of our club members one of the supporting pillars is a mock up while the other is laser cut. We were discussing at the club last night we should start again and build new baseboards as we are planning to go roundy roundy and the current set up does not easily lend itself to this. We can use the buildings and the trackwork and other details a big step to go but it may be the way to go.
  11. Here is a J15 on the Great Western system at Chinnor station in 1957 when it was used on the Watlington branch it was based at Aylesbury shed so no doubt will model it when it get to the shops. David
  12. Dave can you advise if the front toolboxes will have a variation as some were central to the splasher while others were forward some had one central and one forward, the toolbox position had an effect on the spare lamp irons. Could you supply the body only so it can be married to the High Level chassis? David
  13. A new wheel barrow was required at Aylesbury shed so a new one was sent down, shortly after the new one disappeared so a request was made for another new one, when the second one turned up the first new one made a reappearance and both were lined up next to each other, the first one had been popped on top of the water tank so was not visible from the ground!
  14. A photo of the shed and later water tank there should be a wheel barrow on top of it!
  15. First coat of paint on the down waiting room, the camera can be quite cruel in close up. the gap in the plinth is for the down pipe.
  16. Another photo of the buildings on the layout, Since the photo was taken I have painted one of the buildings, now days the brickwork is quite orange and the mortar an stone colour, although colour photos in the 60s show the mortar almost black and a darker brick colour. I don't think the buildings have ever been cleaned and they are protected by the canopies so rain is unlikely to have washed them clean in the last 40 years. all a bit odd. David
  17. The buildings were placed on the layout for the first time last night. I have also applied a coat of stone/mortar colour to both buildings and will start to dry brush the brick colour later today. We have also widened the boards by nine inches so we can add the Met bay and sidings. David
  18. Not updated this page for a while but I have now laser cut and assembled the up & down waiting rooms, the footbridge at the north of the station and café on the platforms are being built by other club member, I will try and take some more photos tonight. David
  19. Those who were at Scalefourum may have seen our laser cutter in use, these parts were cut over the weekend and are one of the waiting rooms at Aylesbury station, the walls are built from a number of layers of Rowmark and Perspex and have been designed to locate using cocktail sticks through location holes, with double sided tape to hold them together. the plinths then cover the holes. All the brickwork is correct including the 1/4 closer bricks each side of the doors and corners. David
  20. I don't know but Henry Oakley GNR Atlantic maybe fits the NRM link!
  21. The last one and out of focus but it does give an idea how good this model was when built and still is now
  22. Maybe I should have taken more, but maybe this is the last one , I just took all these with my phone camera in a matter of a couple of minutes. This layout was heading for the skip as there were no takers, so our club decided to take it on it may well appear at some stage at one of our shows
  23. Another photo the crossing keeper house has long gone but the terraced houses still stand although now with PVC windows and extentions
  24. Another photo of Geoff Williams Aylesbury High Street, The houses still stand in Aylesbury although the railway is now a road. This model was built in the 1970s and the standard still cuts the mustard 40 years on
  25. A photo taken on my phone of Geoff Williams model of Aylesbury High Street station
