  1. Better get a plumber pdq.
  2. And Mil who’s in her 80s!
  3. The loco I mentioned in my last post was started before I got married and we been married 30 years and I still got it to run properly. I even took it to Doncaster exhibition for a certain Mr Wright to have a look at it. Surprise, surprise it worked fine for him and for a while after but now, a bit of a dog in one direction. Pity as it has much sentimental value. Can’t be much wrong me thinks, so out again with the tool box, but not yet. In other news, no nephews today as Sil is now ill together with younger nephew so she’s off work and suggesting we swap today duties to tomorrows. Sorry non starter, we’re off to see Mum, it’s 19 years today since Dad died and as sister if away Mum needs some company. They can sort their own lives out. (that is a rant) Shown another couple around the old premises/house today so hopefully we’ll get the property sold. Not much else to report except HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAZ, for whenever it is/was. Goodnight.
  4. When I was there she wasn’t, just some blokes sitting around drinking something from brown paper bags!
  5. Evening All, Another day of looking after ‘the gang’, which also included younger nephew as he was too I’ll to go to school.(My Ar$e) . He’s good at wrapping bil and sil around his little finger. Did a bit of household paperwork after a tiresome morning and early afternoon and after disposing of les enfants terrible at 7:30 i decided to treat myself to an evening at the MRC. Took a kit id been tinkering with to test run and it ran like a dog even though it seemed acceptable at home. Turdycurses. Tomorrow, just elder nephew and dogs so may get a bit more done. Goodnight.
  6. Id wait until it arrives before making comments like that!
  7. Evening All, Not much to report, not much done, another day goes by. Goodnight.
  8. So what’s the next Great Project?
  9. Evening All, Without quoting anyone in particular a few observations on prescription charges. Just checked where I work, approximately 1.5% of prescription items are paid for, 98.5% we don’t take a charge for This may help to explain why. https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/prescriptions-and-pharmacies/who-can-get-free-prescriptions/ Prepayments cards are great value for anyone on monthly repeat items that don’t qualify for free prescriptions. People on low incomes usually don’t need to buy prepayment card as they are covered by something on the link above. I don’t want to get into an argument about definitions but just want to clarify a point. I always recommend a GP to write a prescription for all items and I would ‘sort things out at my end’. Errors on their part in working out if something was cheaper ‘off prescription’ include:- working from trade/ out of date prices rather than retail prices. Prices can fluctuate quite violently and a book that they often use only gives an indication to price. not knowing what exactly the legal status of a drug was, ie was it available to buy over the counter. some drugs can be bought over the counter for certain ailments but not others and certain applications but not others. For example, hydrocortisone cream cannot be sold for application to the face so in this instance, even though it can be bought quite cheaply, it cannot be for the face so a prescription would be needed. It used to be frustrating when a patient came in and said can I have a pack X for condition y and I’d say either ‘no’ or ‘yes but it’s gonna cost you a lot more than a prescription charge’. I have heard the argument that pharmacies should charge the full prescription charge as the payment is not just for the drug, but for the whole service. At one time and I’m not sure if this is still true now but the prescription charge is not a random figure, it’s half the cost of the average drug item. I hope that’s clear, so if the prescription charge is 9.00, then the average cost to the NHS is £18.00. And before anyone starts, the prescription charge is a levy, the pharmacy does get that money, their fees is nothing like a the cost of a prescription. Probably much more to add but it’s getting late
  10. Perhaps its something that the organiser should provide or not at their expense. ( insurance premium)
  11. Here’s a picture of Hovis (Right) and Sydney (left) together. Hovis has been rehomed by us and Sydney, her younger half brother belongs to bil but spends as much time with us as he does at ‘home’ Hovis has had two litters and after the last lot she became aggressive towards the breeders other dogs so had to be rehomed. Fortunately she tolerates Syd who’s been in the family for three years but it’s not often they are close enough to get a picture of them together. Syd would love her to play with him but she just doesn’t seem to understand ‘playing’ and ‘fun’ quite sad really but she brings us much joy.
  12. Evening All, Dont usually see mil on a Sunday, we see enough of her during the week but for some reason we all (SWMBO, Hovis, Sydney ,mil and myself) went for a walk and a snack at Wentworth Castle. On the way back we called off at SWMBO’s aunt who live a few doors away from mil and met SWMBO’s cousin who was also visiting. We got back home and visited the old lady across the road as she’s been away on holiday for a week and we usually pop in for a cuppa every week or so. She’d brought us a gift back as we’d been keeping an eye out on her house and garden. After tea a bit of tidying up in the man cave and even a bit of the m word. Yesterday I showed someone around mums house and they seemed interested and after a shopping trip to Fox Valley I did some paperwork. Nearly got the Vat return finished but some information is missing so hopefully I’ll get that sent over from the business tomorrow. Quite a busy weekend and I have informed SWMBO that next weekend there’s some men (mainly) making an exhibition of themselves at Mansfield and I’d like to go and see what they’re up to. As for tomorrow, we’ll back to the usual drudgery. Anyway, Goodnight
  13. Looks like Penny’s going to be pestered to death if (our) Syd is anything to go by!
  14. Afternoon All, At my second home, Fox Valley. We, swbo, mil and myself have huat be for a greasy spoon lunch and now they are doing a food shop. Im sat in the car with the dogs contemplating. Black dog is never far away, he comes and then wanders off. Been like it years. Hovis has been a God send, a reason to continue. Only issue is the odd occasions when we want to go out or go on holiday. we’ve got an old motor home so we can go in but its last September since we last used it.Too many commitments supposedly.
  15. Evening All, Remember we’re here @Winslow Boy, and there’s no waiting list to speak to us and we’re cheaper than going private! Another relatively busy day here. Appointment with nurse mid morning and then mum came up from Newark and we went to our usual garden centre for lunch. After that we went to her old house and business premises to show a prospective purchaser around. After that mum went home and SWMBO and I went to the new business premises to show our faces. Called for fish and chips on the way home and washed them down with some Old Speckled Hen and then mowed the lawn and emptied the three burn dust bins. Then a bath and an hour or so browsing the web. As for tomorrow who knows but at the moment the only free from mil, nephews etc days are Thursdays and Fridays so I suppose we ought to make full use of tomorrow. Goodnight
  16. I was thinking more this kind of captain! Captain Sensible, the real man behind CC Ind. GmbH.
  17. Glad to have you back captain. Even better news that progress has been made on emissions strategies especially as with Covid, troubles in Ukraine and their effects on inflation the climate issues have been taking second (or fourth) stage.
  18. @PeterBB, sorry to hear about you predicament. Hopefully things will get better once things have settled down. Renember we are here. Robert
  19. Kings of the wild frontier. Adam and the ants
  20. Looks like Sydney’s made a new friend! He’s a very social chap, unlike his sister.
  21. Evening All, Another day entertaining nephew and mil and later we managed a bit of time in the garden, doing work rather than sitting about. After tea I couldn’t be bothered with much so watched/listened to some music on YouTube. A couple of clips caught attention. Firstly I wondered if @iL Dottore managed to see this band whilst on his recent holiday. I’m pretty sure they’d be worth travelling to the other side of the world to see. and this one, we’ll it’s just wieird. Anyway, Goodnight
  22. Do you remember rock n roll radio. The Ramones
  23. Knowing Bear, if it’s coffee or got fresh cream in it, any of the above. Otherwise snaffle it.
