  1. BUT you cant take your money with you AND it wont go down in value. Therefore its an investment GO FOR IT! If you’re short of space you could….. Oh no I forgot.
  2. Morning All, Just about to get up and as breakfast has already been and gone we may be able to make an early start but on what? Id like to get some stuff out of the garage and see if it can be rearranged a bit better but that would rely on the weather being favourable. As always Hovis comes first so a bit of contemplation time before a final decision has to be made. It would be nice to walk done to bils this morning as it’s Sydney’s birthday and take him for a walk. Enough procrastinating, time for action! Have a productive and/or enjoyable day.
  3. I thought that’s why bears have long tongues. Actually I believe a long tongue is mandatory to get on in politics.😉
  4. Yes they’re still there and I think you’re right regarding RTS. He even suggested that if I need room in MY garage he could put HIS stuff in MY ‘special’ room in the bungalow. I told him ‘what’s starts with ‘f’ and end with ‘off’? A day much like the rest of the week, but we did take some stuff to an animal charity shop so a bit of progress. Perhaps if we move the deck chairs to one side it will stop the list? Oh no, Titanic went down bow first. Perhaps if we move them all to the stern that will help. What do you think @New Haven Neil and @jjb1970, you two being nautical types? Afternoon we went to a friends who is in the process of moving house. SWMBO’s kitchen isn’t fully functional but he’s got his ‘thingymajig’ up and running in the loft! Couldn’t bear the thought of doing nothing this evening so had an hour in MY room sorting some stock. Anyway night All.
  5. I used to have a shed and a triple garage.😪
  6. And both still in limited production!
  7. And I think the CFR 62 bogies are derived from the SBB Ae6/6 built by SLM. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SBB-CFF-FFS_Ae_6/6
  8. Evening All, Another day of shuffling deck chairs. Put sone stuff at the bottom of the drive, free to anyone who wants it. Checked what was left and to be sure checked again, result nothing taken and everything returned to garage. New residents 100yards up the road, steak and chips anyone? Anyway Goodnight.
  9. And forgot to add picture of damaged skirting which is spreading around the bungalow.
  10. Evening All, Decent enough day here and we’ve got Sydney for a sleepover. His stays with us during the school holidays are sporadic as can be expected. Not a lot actually got done and what did was akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, but as is often said in defence, ‘just following orders’ Anyway here’s a picture of the repaired guest toilet. Hopefully there will be no more such incidents but we do have three of this type of WC and the wash basin and the bath have similar concealed pipe work. Three dehumidifiers are on the go at the minute but as they’re at the other end of the bungalow they’re not too much of an inconvenience. Anyway Goodnight.
  11. Made me chortle. I’m not sure if it’s a northern thing but we often talk about ‘going for a big job’. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_job#:~:text=Big Job%2C a slang term for feces or defecation.
  12. Seeing the picture of the rusty Renault4(?) did anyone notice the rusting Lotus Elan in a recent HM article on creating a back street car workshop?
  13. Even done a bit of modelling myself today even though the last couple of days have been rather trying. Not much really but after exhibiting last year a few items of stock needed a bit of attention and most items seem to have been rectified. I’m not really wanting to start something new as I’ve got that many projects on the go it gets me down seeing them. At least tonight I’ve managed to ‘clear the decks’ a bit. At exhibitions I don’t buy kits, there seems little point as I’ve got that many to do and being truthful, I’d rather build a layout to run the stock that I already have. Anyway Goodnight
  14. Job was done when we had a the house refurbished, new roof, underfloor heating, new kitchen windows, the whole lot about 10 years ago. We checked the marking, only ‘made in Brazil’ and the plumber knows the place where we got them from and recons it’s not worth even going to ask. Stack ‘em high, sell ‘um cheap and when there gone there gone kind of place. Next time we pass the place we’ll go in and ask just in case as we still have a half tile in the garage to compare. Anyway the good news is that the leak is no more and the last tile has been fitted and has SWMBO’s approval. Hopefully we can kick any further thoughts on this particular problem into the long grass and concentrate on sorting the skirting, door frames and soggy carpets out with the insurance company. Been another long day but did manage a bit of the m word. Anyway, getting late so, Nite All
  15. And after Big Jims report i was wondering about taking the nephews. Perhaps not!
  16. I’ve found Matt varnish too ‘Matt’, I use satin, though I use Tamiya. Left Matt, middle satin and right as purchased.
  17. I used to be the same, rushing to do the next job on a model before it’s ready and ALWAYS regretting my haste. I do tend to use an airbrush or rattle can for my painting, in fact more rattle can than anything as it has the advantage of not need cleaning out like an airbrush. You can keep going back to add an extra coat without any faffing about cleaning anything. One thing I do is decide before I start what I’m going to do when I’ve done the paint job, that way there’s no procrastinating. Sometimes I decide to leave modelling alone and go and watch tv. As I tend to do most of my spraying outside I may go and do a bit of gardening and come back an hour later and add another coat.
  18. Do Bears…….. Oh no, they’re house trained.
  19. Wow, ‘can die’ weather must be severe!
  20. Agree. Leave it to the professionals and they do it for speed/cheapness. I do recall asking questions about leaks and was told everything was accessible from the pull down hatch. We have two more of this type of instillation so now we’re very nervous. The instillation is very neat and unobtrusive and the toilet is one of those that fits to the wall only. All minimalist but at what price? Anyway job jobbed and the new tile in process of being fitted.
  21. Plumber here already and removed the effected piece of pipe. Now the tricky bit begins. SWMBO saves everything and I mean everything (we have a carpet that’s been rolled up and stored in the garage for 19 years but she won’t dump it) so any tiles or large remnants that were left would have been snaffled away in the garage. There is plenty of other tiles (and part paint tins) but only the one and a half of the ones we need. Its really not an option to make a feature of any contrasting tile as the look is very minimalist. Another option being considered is going in through the opposite site, through the back of a fitted kitchen unit. Hopefully he may be able fix the issue using his long arms and feeling. (Seem to think there’s a joke in there somewhere but as it’s early we’ll not go down there.) For those that are interested, I’ll keep you informed.
  22. Evening All, A busy and tiresome day here, knackered and balance playing up. Water leak not sorted yet, it’s not on the cistern, but on the hot water feed to the sink. A tile has been smashed to gain access to the void but in the wrong place as the leak is not where it was predicted to be. The leak is barely accessible from the hole and we only have one spare tile. Turdycurses. The hot water has be isolated and work will continue tomorrow. Goodnight.
