Yes, Samantha has really taken to walking holidays. She's bagged three Munros, two Rosses and a delighted McTavish.

My Bora TDi is secondhand, and produced before VW had the bright idea of writing cheating software :-)

  9. My best man (veteran of the Gulf war, Northern Ireland, Bosnia twice) passed out with the TA this week and wasn't allowed to wear his medals. Discraceful- we earned those.

I would suggest that an award, all be it a campaign medal still should be recognised. The guy server in the Met for ten years and was allowed to wear them there.

Further more, as a former SNCO his has been allowed to keep his original regimental number. So either way, he sticks out like a sore thumb.

Either way, it doesn't feel right for your friend not to be allowed.

Agree, utterly disgraceful. Whose decision was it - his CO's, or higher authority? Can't see anything in the AGAI that prevents it.

  10. Should've called my cat Yossarian. Glad I didn't call her Major Major Major Major though.

I have spent my whole life trying to get away from King's Lynn, I'm not going back I tell you!

    2. Catkins

      Catkins

I'll agree that all roads do lead to Kings Lynn - but that means getting away is easy!!

      Sunny Hunny anyone?

    3. Horsetan

      Horsetan

I once travelled to Kings Lynn by train for a Court hearing. On stepping out of the train, I was met by a tidal wave of pensioners rushing to board the same train. It was like being swamped by homemade jam....

  14. The extension of my layout that sits by the window has, after 8 years inexplicably collapsed, taking my station and platform with it! Looks like I'll be making some repairs tomorrow...

  15. Finally, her dog has learned to cock his leg!

That'll be your trousers in the washing machine will it or was it a tree?

  16. BBC iWonder- Why do we love the Spitfire? (Showing a picture of a Hurricane. Oops!!)

And they have now changed the image. (But I still have a screen shot of the error.)

  17. I've found a puppy that needs a home she says. (She has been after a dog for the past 16 years). Myself and the 5 cats are not ammused...

The pup is now here. Various levels of disdain from the cats. He's had a bath and we've named him Ronnie (Barker).

  18. After more than two months of having a broken car, I got it back from VW on Friday after they finally gave me a new engine- just in time for the MOT on Monday!

    1. Trebor

      Trebor

Best it passes then.... I would have asked for them to mot it while in their care, might have done it as a complimentary item as they had it for so long.

  19. Car serviced with a new cambelt last week. Tensioner stud sheared on the way to work this morning, so possibly needs a new engine now! (If only everything in life was as relible as a Golf. Hmmm!)

      Ouch, engine is nigh on

    4. 45059

      45059

Tis a know fault on this engine. (2.0 diesel 170 BHP) Although not main dealer, it is a VAG approved garage who use genuine parts- which come with a warrantee. Car has gone back to VW who supplied the parts, so we'll see how the bun fight plays out.. BMWs are nice cars Horsetan I agree, but the 330 diesels (which is what I would have gone for) aren't without their issues either!

  20. Can't sleep.. My team is playing today. It'll be hard to watch, but I must.. C'mon Porsche!

  21. She has just bought more shoes... I have just changed my wifes name to Imelda.

Well, y'know what they say: when you've got bags under your eyes, you need the footwear to match....

  22. Mouldy old dough. (The only UK number 1 to feature a mother and son playing at the same time I belive...)

Nigel Fletcher & Rob Woodward of Lieutant Pigeon spent 1974 (IIRC) recording Western's on the Western Region. One, I can't remember which had at least one article published in 'Traction' regarding his 'bashing' exploits.

  23. The 'Christmas train' with its 'pretty lights' is now on the layout for my wife (DELTIC with 10 matchboard Pullmans) so now everyone's happy in my house! Happy Christmas to all RMwebbers.

  24. Track cleaning- should it repace ASBOs?
