  1. I hadn't taken a close look this morning when I received my newsletter. Shame to see the update seems a dud. I also now approach this thread with a bag of popcorn.
  2. Can't make out the name from the pic. The lined green option on the lower left, though, looks to be a very similar lined green to that offered on both the LRS Victory and Rapido's Hunslet.
  3. Great to hear. I suppose not uncommon. How many people started with a GWR 101, after all?
  4. Could add some rivets to the chassis block in the cab. Not unheard of for a loco to have massive intrusions into a cab.
  5. I'm happy your pic loaded for me quick. If I had read that without the pic, I may have thought you had named a Toyota!
  6. I think UK jackshaft drive favored drive to one end or the other, not in the middle. The LMS example above being a noted exception. May want to see if you can swap the last drive axle with the jackshaft?
  7. If you take Awdry's other writings, James is supposed to be a L&Y 28 with a stretched frame to accommodate the pilot. That's probably intention, though.
  8. Significantly more complete than Jidenco/FB.
  9. There's a laser-cut kit in N, as well. We're spoilt, now, for CC vans. Though I imagine the Jidenco/FB kit is a bit hard to come by.
  10. I've been spoilt in N with Dapol's B-set. I wish they'd re-run the Prairies; right now I have to justify questions by saying Earl of Dunraven is on the 'running-in' turn with the B-set. Loving the play with the Prairies.
  11. Didn't someone pick up Cooper Craft again? Might want to keep an eye out.
  12. Regarding the 'Mites,' they look straightforward enough to bash. Underframe kit, scribed basswood, and balsa and nails or pins for the bolsters themselves.
  13. They're such curious beasts. I may seek out a kit for myself, once the backlog is depleted a bit. There will be RTR by then, at the current rates...
  14. I was going to call this a Monster of a wagon. Then I remembered this is a GWR thread. Didn't realize the bogie coal wagons got so large.
  15. Trix, but yes, the same tooling. I don't need any of that silly third rail. Also, an addendum, I think I had my Dean Goods on the T-Trak in that shot, not the 5600.
  16. Have you made the .stl available? I wouldn't think they would haul much in real life. Only one cylinder. I think the thread we have on such odd locos has some good shots of these in service.
  17. Personal experience has led me to desire mechanical & chemical bonds for couplings. Heljan's Garrett has a way of showing any weakness in your work! You're the better experience in that, Neil. Just thought I'd share what I've seen.
  18. Nice cap, @Wickham Green too. I had similar ideas for my continental stock, where our club layout bears catenary. Lima's old Schnabel will get around that layout without issue.
  19. Stoves are neat stock. I remember how wildly popular the N gauge one was.
  20. Like it says on the tin. Couple of pics from this year's show. First, British Train Society's T-Trak layout. I believe with two of my locos, Earl of Dunraven & my 5600 Next, my current pride & joy on.the European Train Enthusiasts layout, DSB E 991 Finally, starting a Parkside Dundas L&B four-wheel open. Debating whether seeking brass bearings will be worth it. The open will get Dapol NEM pockets from the outset. Have a pack of them. Eventual goal is to fit all 9mm gauge stock with Easishunts. Distant goal as of now, though.
  21. OK, thank you. I'm also guessing, brakes and locos swapped at handover?
  22. What is an STN? For that, I might consider doing that insane LNER job. The big cantilever one.
  23. Thanks to all of you for the information and suggestions. I was mostly looking for justification for the big Crocodiles behind my LMS power. I'll probably commit to one of the wagons when budget allows. I don't have a layout myself, yet. I mostly run on either our club's host's layout, or our club layout itself. We do have one tunnel, plus a couple of road overbridges. May end up being a display piece.
