  3. Well guys this year has just got better. I'm now an apprentice mechanic and I've nearly done my driving test, I've passed my theory so just my practical to go Thanks Jamie D Edited to adjust grammer
  4. I got one about lunchtime today on my lunchhour overall very pleased i'll get it 'Ran in' tomorrow. 'The train shop' in scarborough only has 2 left one LMS and one maroon.
  5. I like the sound of the Thomas connection the 2 locos that spring to mind are ; The Stirling Single (Emily in Thomas the tank) And the D20 (Which I believe is Molly? ) But both are in Thomas the tank. I'll have a Stirling single if it is
  6. I'd love the Stirling single. Link to a photo; http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/GCR/GNR-No.1_1982-001.jpg
  7. I've just read you comment and fully agree it is a horrible fact of life that I've had happen to me a while ago (not on the train front). so I've made sure that everything i see as valuable is where i know it is fairly safe. again it is a shame and i'll remember it for future posts. thanks Jamie D
  8. Quick update time: I have now had about 15 days at the garage doesn't sound much but a trial is one day a week, I've finished college till September so i'm now a level 3 qualified engineer and a level 2 qualified Motorsport mechanic (mechanics with slightly more theory(i can tell you weather a car with skid or overturn first when it goes into a corner). I'll find out about the apprenticeship hopefully very shortly so fingers crossed. On the train front I've brought a few things. Bachmann's Super D (I've always liked heavy freight locomotives.) Hornbys 28xx (same reason as above) Realtracks fantastic Class 144(just had to get one after seeing them at the York show) and 2 Bachmann Mk1 Pullmans( I've always liked them for some reason even more so then the orignal pullmans). I'll get back to you when i find out about the apprenticeship. once again thanks for all the kind comments. thanks Jamie D Edited to adjust punctuation
  9. It must of been you i talked to on Tuesday Charlie. The only reason i rang was just to make sure I wasn't left in the dark. But i rang up after the times on your website and you still picked up so thank you now i know the situation with the 144. thanks can't wait till it does arrive. Jamie D
  10. Ah ok i know that the Up to date Northern Rail one sold out which is why i ordered the Pre 2011 one. I'll get a chance to go to the bank today at some point so i'll see if any money has been taken i'll know if its been dispatched. Me being me i thought i clicked the special delivery button But i must off missed it but aslong as she comes then i'm not too bothered . Thanks for the reply market65 Thanks Jamie D
  11. I ordered an Northern Rail (Pre 2011 livery) last wednesday and i can't wait for it to arrive the main reason i brought one was because i saw it at the York Model railway show and well i sort of fell in love. how long does it usually take to deliver by royal mail. Thanks Jamie D
  12. i had a full run today with all the coaches and i've started reading through the book and i've watched the video the only coach which i could do with is a thompson buffet coach just really to complete the rake. does anybody know if the 1st class coaches were near the front of the train or the back depending on which way the train was going. My work trial went amazingly well hopefully i'll start in september
  13. The Apprenticeship may hopefully be a garage near my house its not really anything to do with railways but living in scarborough the only thing we have railway related is the NBR and the railway station but its a good start and hopefully i can get into railways later in life (when i turn 21). thanks Jamie D
  14. Hi guys i decided to risk running Sliver Fox a while ago on DC after i wired up the layout. All i can say is she runs perfectly even better then some of my DCC locos. so i run her every few months just to keep her running her best. At the minute i run DCC engines at my model club but as i have kept my home layout Dc it means that i can run a few of my DC locomotives at home including my Brand new Hornby sentinel shunter. now i just waiting for the Hornby K1 and a Bachmann LMS observation saloon. once again thanks for the kind words. I have a work trial for an apprenticeship soon so hopefully i'll get more stuff made on my layout thanks Jamie D
  15. I only just found this thread and it's great i'm in the planning stages of a secret project and this will prove useful. I love older railway 'movies' like this as being only 18 I've never experienced stuff like this. Thanks for creating this thread I love reading through the comments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtaouOSACsQ&noredirect=1 another one i watch every so often. i love the 'behind the scenes' videos and the stores one is a favorite thanks again Jamie D (edited to add video)
  16. So i've finished my Wartime A4 only a few little finishing touches but nothing major. I'm very impressed with the out come and dare i say it , it came out better then i expected I had a little accident but when this happened i notice that the tender has a removable coal load. I've now fixed the tender back on. I've supplied 5 images showing the loco from various angles. Thanks Jamie (edited to correct mistakes)
  17. Here is My mallard, For a long time i have wanted a wartime A4. now is my chance. My first repaint and so far i'm happy with it. Got one more coat to add after. (Edited to add extra image). Jamie
  18. I got one yesterday But i'm getting another tomorrow as i plan to repaint it in Wartime Black as its something i've wanted to do for a while. Got the Paint all ready
  19. I planning to Buy a Hornby Railroad mallard for pulling this set then i don't risk breaking Sliver fox. its the same class and colour as sliver fox. and Phil it did come with the etched nameplates, headboard and foxes. Once again thanks for all the kind words Jamie D
  20. I'm not going to rename the A4 but I'm thinking about getting a custom headboard with his name on and possibly by a new steam engine to rename that
  21. three weeks before he passed away he took me to the pickering railway show and thats the last real memory i had where it was just me and him
  22. Happy birthday I will be running the elizabethen but i won't be using the A4 as my layout will be DCC and i don't want to risk damaging the loco but i have a DCC fitted tornado so she will take over and the coaches will be used. After a bit of research i have found the set is infact one year older then me so my dad must have got it for me when my mum was pregnant with me so My dad must of known that i was going to love railways thanks for the kind words everyone Jamie D
  23. I believe so My step brother is delivering to my house on thursday i'll have a look then
  24. I have just turned 18 (11th january) and i got an amazing present off my dad. When I was five my dad passed away but before he went he brought me a birthday present for when i turned 18 and he passed it on to my step brother to keep. As i said he passed away and i always knew he had brought me something but i never really knew what it would be until yesterday. I went to my aunties on saturday for a birthday meal and after that we went to her house and a huge box was sat on the table about half way through the night my stepbrother called me over and explained to everyone that because my dad passed on it got handed over to me and as he opened the big cardboard box a wooden presentation box with a Bachmann logo and as we opened the wooden lid it was the old Bachmann limited edition A4 elizabethen set (13 out of 1000) with 60017, six thompson coaches a book and a video. sorry its abit rushed but i wanted to tell every one. I have included a link to show you the model. http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/1326_1_1465765.html Thanks dad miss you ...
