  1. Great news Dave, just pre-ordered one about 10 minutes ago and then I have to save so no models for a little while after that ... Looking forward to this now. Jamie
  2. This is great news, how hard is it to swap the single chimney to a double one as I’m looking at getting one with the streamlined tender in BR green. Thanks in advance Jamie (Scarborough)
  3. Sorry just the GWR and LNER at the moment. I believe I’ve got a Crecy catalogue at home which has the due date of the other book. When I get home I’ll edit the post with the correct date.
  4. I picked up my copy from Book Law through at the NEC on sunday. Fantastic book and a perfect companion to the rest of the set which has already been released. Jamie
  5. Glad you enjoyed them both matey, it's been a great weekend altogether. thanks Jamie
  6. Hi mate , it'll be DC on the weekend so an extra controller will be useful
  7. hi mate , I've heard from the signalman that a single may be heading towards the colliery this weekend, maybe some more locos coming along too. jamie
  8. I came up on the Friday went to meet some friends in South Shields, stayed over at a family members house then came through for about 4 hours on Saturday. Quality of the layouts were superb especially the locally based ones... Trade wise I only went with the intention of purchasing a book off book law , which they didn't have so I picked up another one instead. It was nice to catch up with some friends as well of course. On the way home I stopped off at shildon ( locomotion) as it's somewhere I've never visited before. After spending an hour or 2 there it was a lovely journey back to Scarborough where my new Stirling single was sat waiting for me . I'm looking forward to visiting next year already. Jamie
  9. Got the dispatch email for a version 2 one today 48 hour tracked, so not long now
  10. Okay quick up date, my loco has just been dropped off and i've had a quick read through the manual and its up to rapido's normal standard ( i won't give anything away). had the model out quickly but won't have a chance to run her until wednesday when i'm down the club, honestly can't wait. as mentioned in my earlier it was under the name Baker, other then that everything else was correct, even down to the delivery driver ring my old phone 4-5 times enquiring about the consignment number and address as he tried to deliver the loco on saturday while i was 2 hours up north... great model so far and i'm really looking forward to running her in. Jamie
  11. I had a phone call from my delivery driver yesterday saying he was ready to drop mine off , the only issue it was under a different name. Everything else was correct ( name, address and reference number). Anyways he's hoping to drop it off tonight and I'll be in touch with locomotion on Tuesday probably. Jamie
  12. Rang up and paid off the remainder for version 2 the other day, while I still had the money as the end of the month is when my bank account goes crazy. Looking forward to the coach arriving ( I know it may take a little long) and looking on here she's going to be well worth the money and waiting time . With this and the single due any second I better get on with my layout :/ ...
  13. That's great mate I'm on falcon road all weekend. I don have a Stirling single due any second so that can be a guest if you want
  14. Hello Luke, It's jamie from the club here . I never realised you had an account on here. Great progress on the layout mate and hope all went well in your exams. i may have a engine or two you can have to visit for the weekend if you like. catch up at the club mate, and keep up the great work mate. Regards Jamie
  15. when i'm not working I play a whole host of games when i have a free moment. these range from shooters ( COD WWII ) through to driving games ( forza). I'm a mechanic by trade so the games i have are mainly driving games and i have a strong passion for ford. This means that most of the vehicles i make in games are based on fords ( especially the older generations...) here are a few of my of creations In GTA 5 and numerous forzas. Although not a ford I'm also a fan of R32 GTRs this is due to a work colleague owning and using one as a daily driver. so of course one had to be made... ( the second photo is his actual one parked up outside my work.) and Back to random creations. I understand that these pictures may not be to everyone's taste. when i'm not playing driving games i play a fair bit of train simulator which i have spent far to much money on :/ but it keeps me out of trouble . regards jamie D (edited to adjust spelling and punctuation).
  16. I passed my test 3 and half years ago now. And got my first car not long after. I had it the hard way. I'm then only one in my household that drives so I had to go in solely by myself. My advice to anyone starting out to look for a cheap ( BUT ROADWORTHY) car in my case a 2002 Ford Fiesta on black box insurance ( altogether it cost me £1500 to buy, insure and tax it ) which for a 18 year old is super cheap. Had it 18 months without a single issue. I'm now on to a 59 plate Fiesta which is running perfect and my insurance is just short of £400 without a black box. Also because I'm a mechanic it pushes my insurance up by a little which is a pain but its something I can live with and is a lot cheaper then some of my mates. The first couple of years driving are always expensive unfortunately.
  17. Last Saturday when the whole country ( okay most of the country ) stopped for a wedding, I went and played with the trains . Even the railway got involved (with a wedding reception being held on the railway). And the railway was taken over by Americans, had a lovely talk with a group of people from around Seattle about the history of the line and the beautiful B1.
  18. Saw the layout for the first time at the Doncaster show on Saturday, And my jaw dropped its surprising just how big the layout is and how large the station is. Simply stunning , well done to all the team for making a fantastic layout and putting mine to shame ... It's strange how the large canopy roof dwarfs the locos and stock while underneath it. I look forward to seeing the layout in the furture and once again well done on creating not just a work of art but a masterpiece in miniature. Jamie D
  19. I've helped at a few shows now around the country and I'm always willing to strike up conversation if I can see the person trying to get one of our attention ( it happens quite a lot sometimes). Because it's not my personal layout It can be hard to answer some of the question but it's not usually too bad. As it was haymarket cross the most common question is were was/is haymarket cross and when you tell them that it wasn't an actual place just based in off Scarborough shed they seem interested and want to know more. Finally because I'm 'fairly' young i get a lot of compliments about how the younger generation are getting involved. When ever I see a young child interested in the layout I'll let them blow a whistle or let them drive a loco into the shed etc. I even once got told that because I was so young I was more interested in my phone because it was all I was doing, once I showed them it was a lenz controller and how it worked I got an apology . But hey it's l part of the fun... and if you see me out there don't hesitate to talk to me, I don't bite honest. Jamie Dunn
  20. I also picked up a copy today, I was flicking through magazines in WHSmith and saw it advertised on the back cover. Thought nothing of it so carried as normal and ended up on the works and there it was , didn't think twice
  21. I rather enjoyed watching the episode tonight , fairly well put together and spotted quite a few members the main one being Jenny and I even saw lee Edmondson ( for about 2 seconds) of lee's Locos who has a thread on here I'm looking forward to next week. Jamie
  22. I'm a subscriber to Model Rail, and technically not a model magazine but I'm also a subscriber to modern locomotives illustrated which is another fantastic mag. Other then them I'll only tend to pick a mag up if it has an article/layout of interest or if the mag has an article of one of my clubs layouts in it. Jamie
  23. I joined my local club back in 2012-13, not really know what to expect and at the age of 17 at the time I was a bit unsure. But in reality it's probably one of the best things I've done, I've made plenty of great friends and have also learn't a huge number of things. I've helped to built layouts aswel as help exhibit layouts not just locally but around the country including the Doncaster and gaydon shows. One thing I've noticed is because I'm classed as a younger modeller the amount of people who comment on my age at shows is amazing , how I don't fit in with the 'stereotype' ( my apologies but I'm quoting that) railway modeller community. In fact I've been told off by someone watching me operate a layout to get off my phone, funny thing was it was a lenz DCC handset. ( the youth of today always plugged into an electronic device and all that). Like I say it's one of the best thing I've decided to do and I'm currently helping build our clubs latest O gauge layout (Which included the purchase of a couple of Heljan locos) and I'm learning about all aspects of the hobby which are now being used in like I say the new layout. I also really enjoy the social side of the club especially when we go away for the weekend to an exhibition. But even on a club night it's nice to have a chitchat mainly about the one thing we all have in common. Thanks for reading, Jamie D Edited to correct punctuation and spelling, and a another section.
  24. looks great mate, I'm got plans to start a new layout, if you ever pop to visit don't hesitate to message me I could do with a helping hand. jamie D
  25. I'd like to thank everyone involved with organising this show. It's been a personal favourite ( and I've been every year for the past 10 shows). So much so I visited both Saturday and most of Monday afternoon battling through bank holiday traffic to and from Scarborough. Personally I really enjoyed The Gresley beat and spent most of Monday taking pics and videos of the layout, as someone stated it's like watching history in the making. I also pre-ordered a dyno coach from rails of Sheffield and picked up some reference books for a future project. But once again well done to everyone involved with this years show and I look forward to next year.
