  1. Footbridge still barriered off. Scaffolding still in place on part of the down platform.
  2. They were unwrapping Crediton footbridge yesterday (taking the quote.plastic sheeting off part of it at least). Should be going down there in a bit so will try to remember to take a look.

Thank to. Does it count if I'm married to a proper Devon girl? I'm slowly tracking west. Born in Kent, lived in Hampshire and now Devon. Might fall of the edge one day.

Ok make it 22 & a half years in that case ! :)

  4. I suppose you'd have to be careful what kind of extinguisher you get too - water or foam won't be much good on an electrical fire, CO2 would be a bad idea in an enclosed space like a loft.
  5. I'm going to become a local sometime in the next couple of months (buying and selling permitting). House hunting starting in ernest this weekend. I.have to say that I did miss Stationmaster's post too. A bit too subtle when you've be up since crack of sparrow.
  6. Work is moving me to Devon. About 8 months sooner than I expected. Don't panic Mr Mainwaring.

I think I get in by marriage - my wife is proper Devon...

  7. nearly at maximum solar anticlimax

  8. Frustrating that the resolution is so low. 700 pixels isn't much for such detailed drawings.
  9. Lovely layout and great photography.
  10. Worked 15 of the last 16 days. Settling down with a bottle of Spitfire and the latest BRM before bed...

With all that "binge drinking", don't get into that "page turning Rage"!

To be honest it's more looking at the pictures after a hard shift at work and a bottle of beer - a very chilled out affair. Maybe if I'd been drinking Stella it'd be a different story.

  12. Schools (R3194 30937 Epson) is TEC05-P90588.
  13. Shame the kit is out of production, though there do seem to be many ways to a 4TC (maybe Bachmann will announce one :-p). I arrived at bit late travelling on the Bournemouth Line for 4TCs in traffic.
  14. I like the 33/1 + 4TC. That's a long term modelling aspiration of mine - did you use a specific kit for the TC or is it homebrew?
  15. Not a train in sight, but it's still the railway. Right time, right place...
  16. One advantage of having to work between Christmas and New Year - time at Paddington when I noticed a sunburst coming through the roof. Taken on my phone and put through Instagram.
  17. Putting on my hat from my former career... You only need to add reinforcement to concrete where it is under tension ie. a more structural type situation. The concrete that's gone in so far looks like it's more of a fill than a slab. Any loads that are transferred into that concrete are well distributed and transferred straight onto the ground below. You won't get any tension and therefore don't need any reinforcement.
  18. Really impressive layout coming together there. As the subject was on operations, thought I'd throw my tuppence in about down passenger services. You're probably aware already but I thought I'd mention it anyway. All down passenger trains are checked down as they pass the yard on their way towards Oxford. The most common occurrence is a double yellow at Hinksey South, single yellow at Hinksey North. This is to bring trains down for the 25mph into the Down Passenger Loop at Oxford Station. The less common alternative is where trains are crossed over at Hinksey North to the Down Up Passenger Loop to access the Up Passenger Loop. In that case the double yellow is before Kennington Junction, single yellow at Hinksey South. This seems to happen either late at night at the end of service (where it makes access easier to the Up Carriage Sidings) or when trains are running late (it saves time shunting between the down and the up platforms if the train is heading back towards London). Hope that is of some use. Regards, Tim
