  1. Nice to see Royal Oak in the flesh, cant wait for mine to arrive!
  2. Here is the completed model, cantrail line moved, bodyside windows reinstated, oval buffers and DRS multisocket filled in. Would be nice to see an Accurascale model announced 👍
  3. Well seeing as you mentioned it, it had to be done! Grafted in a window frame from an old Vi Trains scrapper I had. 👍. Nice to see 403 announced.
  4. I had the same problem and Patrick resolved this at 10am Sunday, yes Sunday morning! Top notch customer service as always! (I'm sure Patrick never sleeps)
  5. One of these would be nice to complete a West of England set...
  6. So sorry to hear this. I was in a similar boat 14 years ago.
  7. Not quite related, but a few 31s too... grabbed a couple! 👍
  8. I did it with my rework of 424. Real ball ache but did look the part. Just putting out feelers to see if this livery drums up any interest for a potential Accurascale model?...
  9. Now I have the chance to model Norwich-Birmingham New Street in the 80s with a few Mk2s and a 31/4 in banger blue!
  10. Totally agree with this, things are improving all the time. A far cry from some of Hornbys 20+ year old tooling they still hang on to. Yes have pre ordered both Accurascale and Bachmann versions.
  11. Yes that's why I put it in brackets. The same as the 40 and 50. Big hp difference. Again big weight difference too. 2000hp and 133 tons unlike the 50 2750hp and quite lighter.
  12. The hardest job is cutting out the engine room window. Luckily the light was in situ. Removed a lamp bracket and nose Ariel's too.
  13. This is an excellent set! I too am working on the Anglia "Short set" where I have reworked Stephen Middlemore into Avro Vulcan. The only disappointment was with the DBSO which has a incorrect front end and light pattern. Took some modifications.
  14. Sorry should have explained myself... Even with the screws, at one end you are putting them into the PCB and never seem to be tight enough, so with a bit of black tac, secures all in place and stops any vibration.
  15. I think it was a good move back then, to save the class and replace with EE powerunits and as you said, went on many years for BR. Infact it was the 31 that got me into all this, as a 5 year old, stood at the foot of Thetford station footbridge looking up at one of these beasts, pulling away at full thrash on the Norwich-Birmingham New St, was awe inspiring! I have heard different opinions from Ex BR friends of mine on these machines. One of my mates Chris used to work them as a freight guard (Gt Ryburgh grain and Lenwade Concrete) and recons they were a joy to work with and drive, yet my mate Andy who was a guard Cambridge- London/Kings Lynn hated it when he got a 31 on a Sunday evening last trip home with 9 bogies, because he knew he was going to be late, appx 55 mph tops! He also said they couldn't manage Bethnal green bank without turning the ETS off! He also said that if it was a Bounds green machine, it would fair slightly better, which makes me think maintainance had something to do with it too?
  16. Class 37/4 = 55000 lbs tractive effort Class 31/4 = 42800 lbs tractive effort. Lack of two traction motors and overall weight seem to make the difference seeing as they have the same EE 12(C)SVT powerunit.
  17. I dont understand why people dont contact yourselves direct, rather than spewing stuff all over here. Your customer services are second to none. Any issues have been slight and have been dealt with by your customer service and anything else can be corrected with basic modelling knowledge. I have had 3 sound Deltics and 8 37s with sound and one Deltic has a decoder issue which Simon dealt with.
