I think it's brilliant; and being NE would be a perfect run-out for a certain J94...

Safe to say George's first train set will not be a roundy roundy :)

I am thinking about changing the layout a small bit, to fit onto a shelf, still don't know yet.

  2. Hornby's free track plan looks really good, just the right size as well.

  3. Had a brilliant day driving our 7 1/4 gauge Bridget, despite the few teething problems, such as the safety valve not reducing steam quick enough. Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

      Nelson Jackson

Ahhh!! One more person to go.

Well you could paint a 4f in GWR colours, no one will ever notice.

I would also love a Bachmann 4f, it's far more superior to the Hornby one I currently have. With its noisy tender drive.

  17. Grrrr, why did I choose the hard one to make, instead of the more simple brake van. The windows are causing a massive frustration.

    1. Castle

      Castle

Don't let it get to you Nelson - take a brake, have a brew and come back to it. It is by rising to these challenges that you will become a better model maker. You CAN do it!

    2. Nelson Jackson

      Nelson Jackson

Thanks, I will leave it till the morning. I'm glad someone believes in me. The problem was, I had completed the first window, but trying to copy it and make another one is proving a challenge.

    3. Castle

      Castle

To replicate dimensions accurately, use a pair of dividers, compasses or the best is a vernier gauge. That way you are copying exactly. I hope this helps!

A guess! I'm going on the one next week. 85 will certainly need run in at least, and it isn't even complete yet. It will get cosmetic maintenance and a UIC code on the tender. They said it'd be out for the Portrush flyer - and look what happened!
