It all does beg the question, though as to at what point a "restoration" crosses over into replication....

My own take is that the borderline is when new "pattern" content and fabrication exceeds whatever came from the original vehicle, scrapped examples of the same model or "new old stock" parts.

A lot of the mk1/2 Escort restorations I see on the various Facebook pages are like that, mostly a pile of new panels welded together with very little of the original shell left, some very good quality work going on though.

Next in line is the venerable Coles Argus goods crane that I can just about recall lurking in various dockyards and scrappies of East Anglia.

Rather than detail the tinplate boom I decided to draw up a new one with additional pullies, load indicator, and more structure to it. Working from a few pictures online I also modelled a cab interior and hook/weight assembly. Wheels are again my 21mm print as used on the TK earlier.

A check fit of the boom has revealed that it will hold itself in place so I'll be deleting the axle holes for the winding gear and tidying up the casting accordingly.

Glazing yet to be decided on as I'm tempted to add safety bars over the top roof and upper section of the windscreen .

  3. Steve has posted on the MIOG Facebook page, he has a Alexander Y type Leyland Leopard,Leyland National 2 and AEC Swift under development.

Also has Bedford TK,Atkinson Boarderer and Guy J4 tractor units in development aswell.

I know his kits ain't perfect and do take a bit of work but they should prove to be useful.

I'm pleased to announce that at the most recent Committee meeting it was decided Scaleforum 2023 is go!

With our traditional dates of the last weekend in September, Scaleforum will be on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September 2023.

Same venue, same fantastic finescale modelling.  We had such good feedback* about the modern, light and airy facilities for the show this year that we are delighted to be back at Cressex School, High Wycombe for 2023.

And with the same caterers, and their now famous "bottomless mug of tea", and delicious cakes.

Details of all the attractions will be posted as they are confirmed.  See you there!

    Best wishes,

What was behind the location of their current site, there was nothing there. I used to use that road a lot in the 90s travelling to Norfolk from my then home in North Yorkshire I took me ages to work out there the railway had crossed the road.

I take it the plan is to build a completely new trackbed towards Wetwang?

When the feasibility study was done for the YWR it was recommended to start across the road from the original station for several reasons, the station site is now a busy cafe and heavily covered with trees, its also land locked by two roads which would have made expansion very, if not impossible ,due to needing a level crossing. The current location will make it easier to expand, green lane and then Wetwang,as its flat fields to clear. Aswell as the money and materials we obviously have to get permission from Sledmere estate, who then negotiate with the field tenant that they'll be losing a percentage of their land.

Wetwang will be the limit of the YWR as the trackbed from there has mostly gone but it will give us manageable line to look after and add a new attraction to the wolds area.

    Morning Rob

The M&D is a fascinating railway for some reason.  Did any DMUs ever work over it? When I was at Thornaby I used to work with a chap who is sadly no longer around that was a fireman at Malton and he worked over it.

There are some videos on YouTube from inside burdale tunnel,  in a pretty perilous state in there nowadays , can't see it will ever be able to reopen

M&DR never had a diesel or DMU work on it,had it stayed open into the 60s I guess it would have, similar to the Scarborough - Whitby line.

Burdale tunnel has collapsed in three places now, will only stay open for the bats that live in there.

It's also on Birdsall Estate who have made it very clear that they don't want to Yorkshire Wolds Railway extending on their land.

I remember being at Hull docks about 2000 and there were loads of them waiting to return to Russia

A1 Soviet Spares on Hedon Road,I know the guys who had it,they collected them from all over the UK. The signs on the cars were made and painted by the owners dad who got the Russian sailors to translate them so he spelt them right.

That looks very nice. Did the kit just come with Resin Shells?

No it's complete, Interiors, chassis have already been done but nothing started on the two bodyshells, possibly quite rare as I've never seen another like this. If I've got it correct, this kit is now sold by PRMRP but the bodyshells are now brass with white metal ends.
