  1. 65 notes all but a penny, plus postage, for a basic 4-wheel 00 gauge Dapol van! If that's what they call "Weathered" it is a very light form of weathering. Also quantity shown on box label does not match quantity shown on certificate. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234770413214?hash=item36a968369e:g:HHcAAOSwVhdhyb2T&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4C3mRqW3Rk8848bdow%2F8EMDJTImk%2BLXj7QMJ1MaBlYRINsUxBGDDJ4RsGSr5I1tm%2FKwH3%2Ba8%2F0mL2QBSf5YRgnZyHx5U29KtUYpqEvgXCUlnJsHPaMfittSmdtUt5DBX0RS4VwwxCGSTQdRnWLbH4ZhihuiNlPIiRTGFvR2%2FG%2BV97e4p7vK6gZDRH7pqoLM9sIW%2BpZeXmMcMLCy90leEcS5dHLLUV9ml7Qc7OWDBbDydCFB2Gf45ixD1NRfQAOTEQFHYBPesP2dpYQ63guP4D67i2iOsaulpR1y4yQWaD3r%2F|tkp%3ABFBMjoyd4JRh
  2. Sorry, but I can't see that any of these out of focus wagons are limited editions. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255841100825?hash=item3b91516419:g:PaoAAOSw8ZNjfOb-
  3. From the same seller as the class 37 which went for a bargain twenty pounds. Prices are all over the place. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255842398687?hash=item3b916531df:g:EKwAAOSw-7djdKzW Reminds me of our local antique shop which currently has a lovely window display of 00 trains. Some current Hornby coaches, including Pullmans with working table lamps all for 29 pounds each, yet he is asking 175 pounds for a Lima class 50 in Network South East livery.
  4. "Experience Something Special" being the return of the Hornby Roadshow to an exhibition😀.
  5. Possibly worth checking that the centre axle isn't fixed too low in relation to the outer axles causing a banana effect. I have had no problems with my pair of Hattons six-wheelers, even on my Peco Setrack second radius curved facing point, but I have a Bachmann 47 which is very temperamental in that it will find the slightest irregularity at a facing point or on leaving a curved section as an excuse to derail itself.
  6. I had another go at deciphering the small print in the daylight. I think it says "Produced by Bob Watt LEMON CREATIVE Assistant to Jonathan Case". I have absolutely no idea why the picture always rotates sideways when I try to upload it.
  7. I always enjoy bringing out the magnifying glass to read the small print on 00 wagon solebars. Usually works plates, repairs instructions etc. I noticed that my Hornby Barkby Jolliffe 8-plank end tipper has a small plate on both sides with the main words "Lemon Creative" and smaller print above or below which I would want to study in brighter light. I googled Lemon Creative and discovered they are a graphics design company which does artwork for Hornby packaging. Has anyone else found this on a Hornby wagon and would care to comment?
  8. I started a hand written stocklist when I started wheeling and dealing model railway wagons when I went to university in 1969 and backdated it to include my original Hornby-Dublo 3-rail acquired from 1958 onwards. I have kept it up to date ever since, now in its third A4 size book listing almost 9,000 items of 00 rolling stock which have passed through my hands, of which around 2,000 remain in my current ownership. Column 1 date acquired, column 2 a narrow column with s/h if bought second hand otherwise left blank, column 3 loco, coach or wagon, column 4 manufacturer, column 5 description, column 6 a narrow one with number sequence running from 1 (a wagon which I bought on eBay earlier today has just been allocated 8906) and column 7 details of disposal date and name of purchaser or donee. In recent years I set up a digital Wordpad inventry of currently owned stock on my PC, with back up on a memory stick. It only needs approx 135kb of memory. The downside is now having to keep three records updated if I buy or sell any items, however the search facility Control+F has proved a godsend in enabling me to identify exactly what I own and how many of each.
  9. That has to be good news. When I had problems with the Dapol class 121 on which the warranty had only recently expired I was referred by Dapol to DCC Concepts. I could never receive any response from DCC Concepts and eventually sold the 121 as a non-runner.
  10. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304598909816 Oh Dear! "Some Idiot has painted a face on 1 of them"
  11. Some people seem to think they can make a KILLing on Lego KILOware. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=Lego+Kiloware&_sacat=0
  12. I have the same issue in reverse, as a seller. First attempted delivery address inaccessible Second attempted delivery no answer Third attempted delivery buyer received item from postman and we then exchanged positive feedbacks but tracking was never updated to confirm delivery. Showing on my eBay as Buyer Paid Dispatch Overdue and I spoke to an eBay rep on the phone a week ago who said this would be updated to confirm item sent but it is still showing this evening as Dispatch Overdue.
  13. Hi Gremlin99, Correct, 402 is in the first batch. Err, isn't Lord Hinton 37 409?
  14. 😀 So, is that the anticipated Friday announcement we have all been eagerly awaiting?😀
  15. I have tried Lanark (limited parking) and Larkhall (large free park and ride) in the past but both came in more expensive and slower. Avanti West Coast and Trans-Pennine gradually empty of passengers as they go further north so there always bargain fares to be obtained with either of those companies from Carlisle which are much cheaper than Scotrail. Besides on a day out I don't have the time for the long 20 mph crawls through Innerleithen and Peebles and then the railtour from Lanark around Wishaw, Holytown, Mossend east to south junctions, and the Hamilton Circle calling at all stations.
  16. Pre-covid I would typically visit Model Rail in Glasgow as a customer plus attending two annual exhibitions nearer home with a vintage Hornby-Dublo three-rail layout jointly presented with a friend who was also our exhibition manager to our local show. We had already decided that 2020 would be our last local show as we are all getting older, then covid came along so effectively our annual show ended in August 2019. I visited the Glasgow show in February 2020 ( I am an AMRSS member being still an associate member of a Glasgow club where I was very active until I left the area in 1989 so i obtained discounted entry and had the option of volunteering, either operating a club layout or as a steward although I chose not to on this occasion). I went into my seventies during lockdown and have not yet been back to a model railway show. My Hornby-Dublo three-rail is currently in deep storage, not run since 2019 and probably some of the mechanisms have seized by now and would take some work and patience to free up. I have avoided attending most public events this past three years and whether I would attend Model Rail 23 in Glasgow next February is yet to be decided. In the current economic climate I would need to consider the cost of diesel for the drive to the railhead at Carlisle, parking charges at Carlisle station, the train fare to Glasgow, lunch and evening meal away from home and the risk of catching covid. Is it worth it for the sake of meeting up with old friends whom I have not seen since 2019 who may or may not choose to attend and possibly seeing a few new layouts which I have not seen before or picking up a really good bargain from a trade stand?
  17. As I only have a small layout, I like to retain the packaging so that I can pack the wagons away neatly in their original wrapping after each time they have been taken out of their boxes for a run on the track. However these Accurascale boxes do take up a lot of space and I would be happy to see the size reduced. A whole shelf needed to house only 53 wagons.
  18. Only time I ever saw Flying Scotsman as 103 was at the unveiling ceremony in York in 2011, and even then 103 on one side only. I recall several of those present commenting that it was a surprise and unusual livery for the event.
  19. Flying Scotsman was going to be "The People's Engine" when the NRM bought it, making it affordable to all. I was one of the contributors to the Vacuum Brake Fund which was supposed to entitle donors to a trip behind FS on the NYMR once it was restored. Yet when the NYMR finally got a hold of the loco they doubled their fares. Still have my nice certificate telling me I will get a ride behind Flying Scotsman, still waiting. I have a tender drive Hornby 00 Flying Scotsman in Apple Green but it has long fallen out of favour and hasn't been out of its box for a while.
  20. Congratulations @6990WitherslackHall.
  21. My Accurascale class 37 will be analogue and I don't do sound. I won't be converting to DCC at my age but I'm certainly very impressed with this video demonstration.
  22. Maybe I was just unlucky. My first car was an Allegro. Front wheel bearings would begin to squeal and need replacing annually. Piston rings wore out quickly. Sold it for scrap for 20 pounds when it was 8 years old and run 60,000 miles. Replaced it with an older Austin 1300.
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324196051431?hash=item4b7b9729e7:g:3wgAAOSwxeVebkqm Several of these "coupling systems" currently on eBay. I wonder what is so special that the economy postage is 6.20 each.
  24. I have just had the same thing again this morning - while I was reading the most recent post in the Accurascale FNA-D thread. This is a thread which I had also visited yesterday before I visited the Naming of Locomotives thread. Will pm Andy.
  25. My Hornby Dublo EDP14 passenger train set which my parents gave me for Christmas 1958 included three of the D14 suburban coaches. I modernised these in the 1970s, replacing the original sintered iron wheels with Wrenn wheels, and adding Ratio interiors and number transfers (lower coach in photo). Sixteen years ago I inherited a further set of D14s in original condition which I have retained. Browsing Hattons second hand recently I noticed a D14 with plastic wheels and couplings, as illustrated in the 1961 Dublo catalogue and later included in the Breakdown Train pack. As it was described as rusty it was only five pounds so I took a gamble on it being on its original bogies and made the purchase. Happily it proved to be an authentic original with factory fitted bogies and couplings. I took a black felt tipped pen over the running boards and underframe to hide the rust but have left the coach sides as they were (upper coach in photo). Although the D14s are very abundant, there must have been relatively few issued with the plastic wheels and couplings as the scale length suburbans superseded them in 1962.
