  1. I hope the "general public" don't get to use those candles. I fear there would be an increase of house fires, apparently they are a major cause even now.
  2. Take it easy, I've just got out of hospital, on the cardiac ward, after complications from COVID. Apparently the new variant does leave some people a little worse for wear.
  3. Sorry, if that's a serious question I can't remember what exact livery it was in then. Apparently it had a drive failure quite soon after.
  4. Glad to hear you're feeling better Annie. I normally don't ever remember my dreams. I did this morning, although it wasn't exactly exciting as it was all about getting paperwork in order. A strange kind of dream but I was in hospital and hadn't slept for over 39 hours. I was in because of complications after my bout of Covid. Staff were wonderful but I spent 12 hours waiting to get onto a ward. I was lucky, I was in a single side room for over half that time. Now convalescing at home, your thread always cheers me up, so keep up the good work. Nice new wagons, lovely teak effect.
  5. Travelled in the 'Flying Banana' at Didcot in the 1990s, very comfortable it was too and not very noisy either.
  6. Your boiler and firebox looks superb, absolutely no visible lines at all. Hope your backhead comes out as good when you reprint it.
  7. Have you thought of or tried the Pendon solution? It's just a piece of thick wire fixed to one coach and bent to 'hook' under the next coach, simple but effective.
  8. Saw this in Lee Abbey reception, where I am staying for the week, and thought of you 😀.
  9. It would be better to produce them in a Vector Drawing program like Illustrator as then you could specify the exact size.
  10. Do you know if it is 'Parametric', that is, can you go back and alter dimensions and all the elements will rearrange themselves to take account of the changes? An example of a Parametric' program is FreeCAD.
  11. I bought a K's kit of 1361 at the Hayle show in Cornwall for the princely sum of £3. It includes wheels and motor. I just need the skill to make it.
  12. On the Swiss lines from Brigg there is a rock near a tunnel entrance called Victoria's rock as it is said to resemble the profile of Queen Victoria. Re the cloud formation:- Queen Elizabeth II was of course a committed Christian so maybe God was gently calling his faithful servant home.
  13. There are some good videos on YouTube about stringing and also how to improve definition of prints. I have a cheap Aldi rebranded FDM printer and when I showed someone who also had a Resin printer he was very impressed with the quality and definition I am able to get. I use the supplied 0.04 nozzle. I am using the latest Cura slicer and have tweaked a lot of settings (after having enabled them).
  14. Apparently Alan Downes felt like that once, but when he looked at it in the morning it was his finest bit of weathering he had ever done!
  15. The layout looks even better in the flesh. It is packed full of well observed details, the colours and textures are just right. I highly recommend a visit to a show to see it
  16. I have the set of two SMS boards (designed to be joined as one) that fit in the 77ltr Really Useful Christmas Tree box. They are a snug fit in the box. There is enough space below the baseboard to fit point motors etc. The backscene height is enough for a tall building. I haven't started to make the layout yet though. I found the cheapest place for the Really Useful Christmas Tree box was from Argos - £30 when I got it.
  17. You're a better man than I, I popped in and bought one last weekend. There are disadvantages to living close to a well stocked model railway shop 🙄.
  18. Apparently there is a new culture of doing "The bare minimum" at work emerging. Blamed on lockdown, I experienced this with a colleague back in 2003. He openly told me that is what he did, I was left to do all the work he should have done. It prompted me to look for another job, I got one with much better pay and conditions. I now work two jobs which has its downsides - both jobs would like me to do more work than I can fit in. Has stopped me modelling for the last 8 months.
  19. Is that a water tank trying to hide at the top of the cutting on the left?
  20. My copy of FreeCAD on a Windows 10 install has become very buggy since the last disastrous Windows Update. Haven't have any problems exporting to STL though, in fact it's much better than Tinkercad.
  21. Very nicely done. Thinking aloud, would it enhance the effect if you gloss varnished the "spokes"?
  22. I believe the shelves and bench are available as a file to download and 3d print. Possibly from Cultsed or Thingsverse?
  23. Misspost I was not commenting on Regularity's post but my own incompetence of not being able to delete a wrong post
  24. Your wing walls stonework looks better than Ratio's. The mortar gaps are finer.
  25. Check and double check you've packed everything you need. An RCD may be required (should say on the exhibitor form), a small piece of carpet to stand on if the exhibition floor is hard, something to clean the track with as it will get dirty on the first day, some backup stock as some will play up or stop working.
