No rain in South Devon for a while now and it's getting too warm again. The breeze is, however, very welcome.

Who is this 'we?' Did some group enter a competition to win penalties? What are penalties, anyway? Can they be exchanged for a free cup of coffee or something?

      The Stationmaster

Alas the LNER is not a very good name to bring back if Grayling is thinking of financial performance as it was by far the worst performer of the grouped railways when it came to dividends. Maybe a lesson there for franchise bidders?

They'd be better off bringing back the LBSCR. Less embarrassment due to journey times having not improved since the glorious Gladstone days.

  18. Heads up.. I just bought the last of the R8264 14.1mm coach wheels from amazon at £6.60, as the new rrp is £15, ebay stocks will surely dissipate next.

  19. Home from Dampfspektakle.. I have the sounds of Maybach engines and a loud BR78 ringing in my ears

  20. Day 3 Dampfspektakle.. BR03 to Saarbrucken, and a trip round freight lines, avoiding lines and triangles of Trier with a noisy BR78 and a BR211. Currywurst and Bitburg once more.

Currywurst is an abomination! Brat an Bok are the the only true sausage...

  21. Day 2 Dampfspektakle.. BR103 on TEE.. but a V200 at 70+ mph is a sight to behold..from the front most window too

      adb968008

I also had a long sedate trip from Trier to Nennig and back to Bullay with a Br52.. started watching the 6.40and 6.44 departures with BR 52’s ended the night watching them double head back to shed....now time for a Bitburg !

  22. Day 1 Dampfspektacle over.. wow. Tired feet need beer. Dreaming of the BR78 climbing up to Gerolstein.

  23. V200 just replaced a BR01 on the 1418 to Gerolstein.. good or bad ?
