  1. Maybe we need a KR models wish list thread ? Save this for DHP1 ?
  2. you mean the lesser spotted class 32 ? You said it... I think Engineers Dutch livery would suit it well.
  3. It’s faded to what it was in Sweden, it was a burning flame effect on the writing, the flames. Quite of lot of bits have been removed, from the roof, front, including snow ploughs, roof mounted horns and hand rails etc.
  4. Actually I think the inverse is true and they are doing the right thing... Anyone doing a class 31 is asking for trouble, Hornby can turn two taps on overnight, with a Railroad and a Full Fat range of liveries, toolings are ready to go... more impactful than the class 66 or a Terrier. I very much doubt anyone else will do DHP1... Heljan was successful with Lion, Falcon and Kestrel, and now 18000 and 89001. Hornbys done the P2, Duke and are doing W1 and those stranger A2’s... Bachmann and Dapol did 10000/1, Bachmann - Deltic. KR.. GT3, Fell.. There’s clearly interest in prototypes. After DHP1, that’s pretty much it, 10800 remains.. Without DHP1.. there’s a gap in the set, just that it didn’t run much, hasn’t stopped Hornby making Rocket... its not as if that loco fits on everyone’s layout...unless your modelling Rainhill in 1980 or 1829. D0260 Lion entered service in May 1962 -September 1962, and March 1963 - Jan 1964.. that’s Only 13 months.. it was scrapped years before DHP1. Prototypes generally exist to be a prototype.. if its unsuccessful.. in the bin it goes... that’s what makes them interesting..., the mystery of what might have been... A DHP1 will be a head turner on a layout.. a lot won’t be even prior aware of it, which is what drives the craving to know more about it..
  5. Looking closely at Rockets tender.... Should I assume it rolled as smooth as silk, or that coal was such abundance no one cared how much spilled into the 4ft ? Its loaded right up to the edge of the tender, with not so much as a wooden board to hold it back ? just for fun and sizing, here is Rocket posing inside a class 45 bogie...
  6. FYI the correct link is https://krmodels.co.uk/collections/oo-gauge/products/clayton-dhp1 ive put an EOI in, it might have only accumulated marginally more miles than 37419 in DBS livery, But it is the final gap in diesel prototypes to a full house. After this its shunters / electrics and units... But DHP1 is the missing gap.
  7. My one counted 14 sleepers from the aws box in front of the DMU at one point... but it was the bush that was hiding the longest from being spotted. here’s my little ones scorecard.
  8. So for sound, we’re looking at something like this ?
  9. A few years back the authenticated plates for 36002 and 36003 were auctioned off. 36002 was very much a nearly finished locomotive. Theres pictures of both 36002 and 36003 here http://www.bulleidlocos.org.uk/_ldr/ldrClass.aspx if we’re being creative, some accurate versions of 36001 would be a must, but an artists mock up Liveries featuring 36002 /3 might be interesting.
  10. It’s definitely at the different, end of the scale. I see this as being weirdly interesting, interesting enough to want one. It seemed to be on a number of localised freight workings for a couple of years.
  11. Oh boy... a Clayton DHP1 ? And an EP body already ! aye yai yai ! and a Leader ! In 2 liveries ? i wonder if 36002 / 3 could conceptually be produced.. they did exist, albeit not complete. from KR.. Another cool video to watch..... indeed it’s a good honest and open interview.. I think some in the KR models thread should watch this.
  12. This is a very cool idea today... I’m so jealous ... I’d love the chance to walk through Liverpool lime street in the 1940’s.... That’s a brilliant video of a fantastic layout... very cool idea to superimpose the interview on the layout camera angles.
  13. Is 2nd place in the competition a chance to compare EP sample pictures to real world models ?
  14. my little one just cracked it, but gosh that kept her quiet for an hour, she’s learned a few more technical terms too.
  15. I collect models from several eras, and several countries. I own more locos than some shops. But like everything, family, work, means I buy it now, and it awaits the day to be used. That means using them once or twice in a number of years. maybe its a waste, but my alternative is to sell them after once use, and maybe buy it back again someday in the future, or to do without. Until recently I was buying “fleets in an era”, but its resulting in too many duplicates, and that “era” or “theme” is getting stretched. With price rises, duplications and varying quality, I am buying less than I used to. 3 years back i’d have bought all 3x 61xx’s, no question.. now Ive not even ordered one, nice as they are, and the 3x older ones i’ll just reduce to two, or perhaps one... I need space for what I want moving forwards. I accept at some point i’m going to thin out and focus my collection. I have started latterly by selling locos that just don't perform well, but the big job is coming... which means many locos that are barely used... maybe I am just doing the same as several others before me.
  16. My usual haunt on the LSWR main is the 2nd bridge down from Wimbledon (Merton Hall Road), just by the Sutton line junction. My other coronavirus hangouts are the freshly trimmed Stoats Nest jn bridges just before Merstham tunnel (i really reccomend this spot before it gets over grown again), and the bridges at Blackbook Lane or Queensway bridges near Petts wood, or the fotbridge north of South Croydon.. All reasonably quiet, easy to park locations. My daughters not got school at the moment, so we exit for “photography training”.. I use the video camera, shes on the camera.. she produced this at Riddlesdown this week.. in pretty poor twilight conditions too. When I was 9 my “good” pictures looked like this.. were off to Tonbridge yard tomorrow to take a look at NHS 66731 as I believe its there overnight tonight. sorry to hijack jim !
  17. Small world 66775 was around my neck of the woods earlier this week... 66775 seen here on tuesday at Wimbledon delivering 701004, in miserable weather.. (picture credits to my 9 year old, I operated the video camera).
  18. Mk4’s will probably dissapear first. the remaining mk1 sleepers will rot away indefinitely as it costs money to get rid of them.
  19. Not if theyve been tooled, sampled and due here in 8 weeks, 6 of those being on a boat... of course Hornbys dates have been known to slip, not that i’m cynically suggesting anything.
  20. Ive decided to hold off buying this for now, see what transpires. ironic in that I’m just about to pick up some 60’s now Bowfell has been sorted, i hope they get the GBRF 50’s right.
  21. I think the driver was too. lots of horns, and for enthusiasts too, I think some, myself included, hadnt been out for a while.
  22. Here at Mallaig. http://www.angelfire.com/al2/philspage/153.html
  23. it would probably be hypocritical of me to say have patience, after venting my experience. However after speaking with Oliver I feel much more informed now than I was, and in retrospect would have been more forgiving If I knew back then. Fwiw, My short experience, I still think the Rails one has the potential edge on the Hornby one.. The chimney, the wheels, print quality, firebox glow just feels like I have a better model. The Hornby one is nice, dont get me wrong, but a turned metal chimney on the Rails Terrier beats a painted one... its little things like that. Admittedly Ive not been able to do a technical test, yet, or go into it as much as i’d like, but .. Ive not canceled my preorders.. i’m still in for 2 more, and havent given out on the LBSC just yet... Tooth paste is hard to put back in the tube, so I will be hypocritical.. and say have patience and await the rebooted Terrier.
  24. It would, Except the same 3 x 73’s went LE to Peterborough in order to bring it back. Outward... Tonbridge to Peterborough 73212+73136+73107+66740 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/34450/2020-06-30/detailed Return.. Peterborough to Tonbridge 73107+73136+73212+66792 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/34579/2020-06-30/detailed Only 73141 took 66792 to Eastleigh today... so my question still stands, braking was obviously eliminated as the reason.
  25. I think many people see a shade of red when they see a DJ box. White box looks nice, afterall the SLW 24 comes in a biscuit tin. I’m waiting for the first trainset to be sold in a BR drivers leather bag.
