Edit,.
I’ve 180’d my opinion.
The two images aren’t related.
Agreed bottom one, if it were linked to the top image, could only be 813...
However that’s not possible, the Loco has Orange black lining.. which 813 has to my knowledge never had. Similarly (and this is obscure), but looking at the 813 website, it’s overhaul was completed in June 2016.. with a black vac pipe and the Loco unpainted, but in may 2016 it was not yet fitted, since painting it’s pipe is black. That said, the Manor parked next to it in May 2016, certainly did have red pipes.
It could be another industrial, Hudswell Clarke, kitson ?
For example, How about this one, picture taken from the front of the footplate looking back towards the bunker..
-
Bottom of two handrails, entering the footplate, who’s cab has lots of rivets, and a Vac Pipe, missing its bag, that provides higher than the buffer beam.
Suggests it’s not a tender engine (would only be 1 handrail), and running plate, wouldn’t be continuous.
But that it is continuous eliminates a number of tank engines too..
So were left with a GWR tank engine, that’s not a 41/51/61xx.

They said that once about model trains when they went to be manufactured in China.
3D printing will probably be the mechanism by which they come back from China.

I renewed for the collectors club last April, and I’ve seen nothing for my money.
Unlike in the past I went for the download option, does anyone know where one can download the club mag from ? - looking at the downloads area nothing has been updated for months.
Whilst I get all their other marketing gumpf, I never get one about the mag.
-
My orders in, trainload of HUOs, all 4 plus the single wagon.

It depends. But does it really cover the extra assembly time of finer details or add in global shipping etc that wasn't relevant to this reaching shops then?
Locos have gotten more complex, coaches have not.
It takes me 82 seconds to fully assemble a new Railroad Mk1 from all its bits which all snap fits together. (Video below).
I couldn’t do that with a 1960’s Mk1, which it’s 4 piece body and 3 screws.

And we’re starving for them :-)Not many Mark 1s left to model now, mainly the restaurants.
And not just mk1’s...

Time will tell. Are enough people paying that on ebay to sell a whole production batch at that price?
But at Christmas last year no one thought anyone would pay more then £100 for a peckett.
Pecketts have consistently sold for a Packet all year, with >£150 being the norm.
I could imagine a Peckett holding an rrp of £125 for a while.
I think the shortcoming was announcing an Rrp for the second batch, if they had issued an announcement but held back price, like Bachmann, it would give them time to assess and determine an optimum price.

Every model has its price.
Every model also has a reputation.
If it’s reputation is seen as being easy, in every shop window and sold cheap.. people don’t care, don’t look and dont rush.
If it’s reputation is seen as being hard, not available and not discounted, people make huge efforts to find them and buy it ASAP.
One creates a downward spiral, the other creates an upward spiral.
2017 Hornby has done well, Pecketts, MN’s and now H and Duchesses seem to be selling out fast.
Next step for Hornby is to raise the price a little further, as after all if people are buying SWS for £250 on ebay, why should Hornby be selling them for less ?, similarly reducing that supply incentives that increase too... eventually they will find the upper limit, they already found the lowest one a few years back... £89 is too cheap for a tender engine, as years on B1’s, K1s still Line some shelves.
Every model is different. But there’s few complaints of 250 NCiM models at £189, so that barrier is successfully attained, if they sell out, then try either 500 at £189 or £220 for 250 ?
There’s a saying in sales, start high bargain down, as if you start low you can’t bargain higher.

You mean over £250...There is probably an "e bay madness" thread on some other website showing the "madness" of a listing of a new Hornby engine (big red one with a coal truck and named Sir William) at over £150!!!
Sold too.
I wonder if it will reach £300 ?

Has anyone else been having difficulty today getting through to Locomotion to order a Duchess of Hamilton? I’ve been trying for about an hour and a half now and I still can’t get through to anyone.
I know they most likely are busy with taking orders but after a dozen phone calls and leaving messages, you’d think I’d be able to get through. Being in Canada isn’t helping either as it’s now past 3am! And I don’t even want to think what the long distance charges must be by now... I just hope I can get one before they are all gone!
Order it online (i’ve Just ordered mine and i’m sat in a hotel room in an interestingly titled town called “king of Prussia”, PA).
I’ll be home before the model is.
-
Why not, theyve had all the bits for years...I am now wondering if I should take a plane to Birmingham.
Nice one Hornby. Huge H it is.
As others said, lots of Q getting in on the video too. Could this loco now be in the Q for development as a model?
Small tender for the n15
Airfix 4f body
Hornby jinty chassis
:-)
Seriously a Q must have been an obvious one for years, i’m Surprised they did a 700 before it.
If the Airfix 4f tooling is coming to the end of its life, the Q could be a nice replacement.

Internet of things
It refers to generally white goods and other electronics which have IT based intelligence.
In PayPal’s case, that intelligence would include ability to purchase things.
Your washing machine may want permission to order washing powder,
Same thing for the car, which may some day take itself to the garage and get a wash and refuel.
Much closer to shore, and pretty much now, you’ll be able to tell a TV advert your watching, to order you one those.
In all cases PayPal’s hoping your details are on file, so when your off spring says “I want one” to every advert on the kids channel, and fifty boxes arrive at your front door, you check your now in overdraft, that you cannot blame PayPal.

Oh well,
Despite my whinge about the price, a quick scan shows everywhere 46256 is selling out or not less than £200, it’s glossy, i’m Betting the missing catalog number R3554 is 46229 in matt and will come in January but who cares, if i’m wrong it looks likes i’ll miss it.
So it’s ordered.
My fleet of Duchesses:
6229 (bathtub red)
6230 LMS maroon
6231 LMS Maroon (new and dublo)
46235 wrenn, BR Green
46236 BR Maroon
46241 BR Blue
46245 BR Maroon
46256 BR Maroon
Plus 46229.
6230 may become a sacrifice, as may 46235 as I want the new one next year.

That’s ok show doesn’t open till 0930.Yes, but if it's Bachmann, it won't get there until 2020...
But if Bachmann brought some full size birdcages, and Peco some real track.. then Warley could be a different prospect :-)
-
I thought that too, but after I added it to the basket, I saw with postage it becomes £197.50... that price tag slows things better than any air, vacuum or steam brake.I'm surprised that it's in that livery as a short run LE. I reckon that would sell more than 250. So if you want one, I would be quick.
I was expecting a black one with BRITISH RAILWAYS on the tender or LMS number.

Probably a wise choice. They are easier to stick on than take off.
Means a different variant for a future limited edition. It’s gloss finish too, so a Matt/satin variant could be on the cards.Looking at the photographs and there is something missing.
No warning patches.

The cab has sloped /angled ends in industrial use30096's cab in the pic here looks remarkably like a post-BR modification. Anyone able to say for sure?
Looking at the pics from Dapol I might add a brown one I don't need to the LSWR club one I don't need which is already on order (with a class P from Hattons I don't need......)

And after.. (still in industrial service)

STOP STOP STOP.....
I’ve found a bargain...
If anyone is still stressed, I recommend 4 minutes of Oliver Cromwell therapy..

I'm not entering a slanging match otherwise I become as guilty as others. I completely agree with you that it is a forum and forums are for discussing things BUT a topic is also a topic and a bent chassis do not constitute bargain. Suffice to say that the original poster brought it to everyone's attention that what appeared to be a bargain MAY be a substandard item. If it needs further discussion open a new TOPIC.
Surely posts like this disrupt the thread flow much more than a brief discussion about the item? Which had finished BTW.
Can't people just ignore the irrelevant posts? There are hundreds, if not thousands, of new posts a day on the forum and I manage to ignore most of them as they aren't relevant to me.
Anyway. This has been discussed to death and the OP allows discussion (as sanctioned by Andy Y). It would be a shame if the thread got locked again.

Tad optimistic to think they will get from Bluebell to Birmingham between 9am and 12 though.
I pretty much live at the start of this route and i’d Be lucky to get from the M23 round the M25 to the M40 in less than 2 hours at 9am, let alone to nec in 3.. and that’s without a H class on my back.
A typical M25 morning rush hour (between 5 and 11) consists of traffic jams at M25/23, redhill, leatherhead, cobham, A3, M3, Heathrow...then add the 40mph speed limit. M25 and M42 can be really bad, twice in the last 2 weeks I’ve driven Croydon to Brum at an average speed of 25mph (5 hours) outside rush hour due to things going bump on the M40 in between the mess that is the M25 and M42.
East Grinstead to Gatwick’s not much fun either, nor is the M23 at that hour.
If they leave at 9, i’d Reckon they’ll reach the M25 by 10, M40 by 11.30, M42 by 130pm, nec by 230pm, it won’t be going at 70, even if the road is clear.
Still nice to have the H at Warley.

Having removed more cat hair from loco axles than a cat could possibly produce in a lifetime, I see it as relevant, especially when the motors burning out and the whole thing is underperforming as the wheels can barely turn for furr.Unless they've owned it from day one, how do they know it's from a smoke and pet free home?
Even if the above applies, the original shop owner could have smoked or owned a pet.
The stupidity and arrogance of some people when disseminating irrelevant facts.
Mike.
If the loco has been in a house as long as the cat has, the furr gets to every part of a loco you could think possible.
After an hour or so of removing tabby from the train, the loco sprang back into life.
Still it’s better than a loco turned yellow and stinking of fags.

I’m sure someone would have eaten their butties off of it :-)Dinner table, as if!!!
The big table was needed for laying out the plans, the kitchen was a coincidence!

Who knows they may put the bath tub body on the new chassis too.I think we can safely say that we've got years of new releases to come from these models. In all different varieties and liveries.
So far we've got four basic locomotive types and three tender types.
LMS conventional
LMS/BR ex streamliner sloped smokebox
BR ex streamliner full smokebox
BR Ivatt
Conventional tender type B
Ex streamline tender type A
Ivatt roller bearing tender type C2
