Hi John, I've just come across this thread, and can I say very nice it looks to. Some excellent modelling, and it's interesting to see the various different approaches yourself and others have taken albeit based on the same prototype location. Another GWR gem to follow. :-) Andy

Time flies when you're having fun... or maybe we're all just getting old.

Hi Wilko, I don't know if you've seen this thread https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/79690-building-your-first-layout-supplement/ It's from a few years back, but there was also a bookzine to go with it. Seems as good a place as any to start, and quite versatile in terms of possible locations as others have pointed out.

Strikers, squads? What happened to centre forwards and teams and other positions I could relate to? Said Brian, posting from the land that gave us "soccer". -
Thanks for the replies, and to Miss P. for the link. I'm already thinking about coming back down for a family break next summer, so a brisk country walk could well be on the agenda. :-)

Hi wiggo, apologies for the hijack. I was in Princetown on Wednesday, with a group of French students. Had afternoon tea with scones (to rhyme with stones :-) in the Fox Tor cafe after explaining the difference between the right way to apply yer jam and cream, as opposed to the Cornish way. We got the coach back to Plymouth via Yelverton, with the former branch line visible across the moors, which got me wondering; is it possible to walk the route of the branch?

An interesting steamy weekend in Waraqah world. I went down to Lahndahn for an induction day on Saturday ahead of a summer teaching job, and I was at Hammersmith tube station on the way home when I saw this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8lzsBAc0GA Followed on Sunday afternoon by Clun Castle with 6 or 7 on steaming through Acocks Green as I was heading out to do some shopping. No pictures I'm afraid as in both cases, it was a complete surprise, and I wasn't able to get the phone camera sorted out in time. :-(

HIGH TREES JUNCTION - UPPER QUADRANT SIGNALS

That last picture is amazing. The Hoover in particular is so realistic that it could taken for a 'live action' shot. -

Is that JA on the platform about to say, "Daddy, my daddy"? -
Hi All, Apologies for going slightly OT, but I've just got home from the Eid celebrations in Small Heath park, having caught the train at Small Heath. I wonder if anyone can think of other examples of stations where platforms 1 & 2 are closed, and trains stop (occasionally) at higher-numbered platforms (3 & 4 in this case).

That's really impressive, but at the same time, I can't help thinking it sounds a little Doctor Who time-tunnelish...
