  1. Well, siphons we’re always brown, so habit may be in play. It may be that CCTs and horse boxes built 1912-22 might have been turned out in lake but…. Coach liveries were expected to last 10-12 years so anything painted before 1912 would be in brown, possibly to almost the end of the lake period! Then you have WW1 and cost savings so the move of fish wagons to the carriage resister in 1916 may have resulted in brown being used (when they were due for repainting), even if CCTs built 1912-14 were in lake. It (like red wagon liveries) is one of the things that make the ‘oh so samey’ GWR rather interesting. Incidentally, I did my 1914 4wheel CCT in lake. I like it but I do think it looks odd! D
  2. All passenger rated fish wagons were wagons ie red or grey to your personal taste not brown until 1916…is that also unusual? (I cherish my ignorance of non GWR matters….) D
  3. Louis, Thanks for your kind words as well as your previous support and encouragement. It has been very much appreciated. Duncan
  4. What a brilliant piece of research and digital modelling - how big would it be in 4MM scale out of interest? I hope you'll write it up for the Broadsheet in due course. Regards, Duncan
  5. When it comes to private owner wagon liveries, I get the impression the Dapol take the 1980s Hornby approach - any body will do… Duncan
  6. Well, I've outed myself now on RMWEB (by kind permission of Andy York) as being a (sort of) purveyor of wagony things to the discerning or not 4mm scale modeller...
  7. By very kind permission of Andy York.... As some of you know, I've been 3d printing stuff to support my 4mm scale modelling projects for a while now, as well as demonstrating 3d printing at a number of shows and open days over the last couple of years. I'm always asked when demonstrating if my prints are for sale... So with a great degree of trepidation I can now say that they are and are being sold under the DR3D Models banner. What is in the range? My 3d prints cover the GWR from the 1860s onwards in 4mm scale (I don't do commissions) - 1, 2, and 3 plank standard gauge wagons, fish wagons, and iron bodied loco coal wagons, while for those of a Brunelian bent there are 3d prints covering broad gauge convertible 3 and 4 plank as well as iron bodied loco coal wagons. Things like this, in fact (4GWR-003 GWR 2 plank wagon to lots 20 & 21, 16’ O/H (15’6” in clear) : So, at the moment, the following are available - some for immediate dispatch, others are on a 'print on demand' basis: 4GWR-001 GWR Bar sided 4 wheel fish wagon to diagram S7 (1892-1926) £30 4GWR-002 GWR 1 plank wagon 15’6 O/H (15’ in clear) no diagram (1866-c1914) £15 4GWR-003 GWR lots 20 & 21; 2 plank wagon 16’ O/H (15’6” in clear) (no side door, low sides: 2 x 9” planks) (1870-cWW1) £15 4GWR-004 GWR 2 plank wagon 16’ O/H (15’6” in clear) (with side doors, high sides: 2 x 11” planks) (1872-cWW1) £15 4GWR-005 GWR 3 plank wagon (round ends, wooden u/f) (1879-cWW1) £15 4GWR-006 GWR 3 plank wagon (round ends, fitched u/f) (1880-cWW1) £15 4GWR-007 GWR 3 plank wagon (round ends, iron u/f) (1880-1920s) £15 4GWR-008 GWR 3 plank wagon (square end, iron u/f) (1884-1920s) £15 4GWR-009 GWR 3 plank wagon (square end, fitched u/f) (1880-cWW1. The dates when round ends were removed is unclear but believed to be after 1900) £15 4GWR-010 GWR Loco coal wagon to diagram N6 (no extension plates) (1880-1930s to 1950 – the dates when the side extensions were added are unknown) £15 4GWR-011 GWR Loco coal wagon to diagram N6 (with extension plates) (1880-1930s to 1950) £15 4GWR-012 BG GWR convertible 3 plank wagon osL345 (1885-1892) £15 4GWR-013 BG GWR convertible 3 plank wagon osL369 (1886-1892) £15 4GWR-014a BG GWR convertible 4 plank wagon osL497 (with door springs both sides) (1889-1892) £15 4GWR-014b BG GWR convertible 4 plank wagon osL497 (with door springs one side only) (1889-1892) £15 4GWR-015 BG GWR convertible iron loco coal wagon osL566 (1890-1892) £15 4GWR-017 GWR lot 130; 2 plank wagon 15’6 O/H (15’ in clear) (with side doors, high sides: 2 x 11” planks) (1874-cWW1) £15 For those who might find it useful, here is a pdf of what is available: DR3D models Price list v2.pdf Got any more pictures? Yes. You've seen 4GWR-003, but here are more. Please remember these are after the prints have been built and primed! 4GWR-004 GWR 2 plank wagon 16’ O/H (15’6” in clear) (with side doors, high sides: 2 x 11” planks) (1872-cWW1) 4GWR-005 GWR 3 plank wagon (round ends, wooden u/f) (1879-cWW1) 4GWR-008 GWR 3 plank wagon (square end, iron u/f) (1884-1920s) and yes, I forgot to fix the label box in place on the solebar before I primed it and took a photo! And for the BG crowd, 4GWR-012 GWR convertible 3 plank wagon osL345 (1885-1892) What's in the boxes? What you get in the box varies but these are not complete kits; they are aids to very simple scratch building. However, the instructions (as well as supplying you with, I hope, a satisfying amount of prototype and historical information) do tell you what else you need and suggest where you can get the bits: think suppliers like MJT, Wizard or ABS Modelstock; or if you have your own preferred supplier of components you can use them! In the boxes you get: 4GWR-001: Body x 1, queen posts x 2, vacuum cylinder x 1, buffer shanks x 4, and outside rigged clasp brake gear 4GWR-002 to 4GWR-004, 4GWR-017: Body x 1, wagon label box x 2, early ribbed buffer guides (no heads) x 4, grease axle box & spring x 4, wooden 2 shoe brake gear and curved lever 4GWR-005 to 4GWR-015: Body x 1, wagon label box x 2, grease axle box & spring x 4, round based taper buffer guides (no heads) x 4 So to illustrate, here is what you get with 4GWR-004 GWR 2 plank wagon 16’ O/H (15’6” in clear) (with side doors, high sides: 2 x 11” planks) (in use between 1872 and cWW1) Can I see the instructions? Yes, as an example, here are the instructions for 4GWR-005 GWR 3 plank with round ends and wooden underframe. 4GWR-005 3 plank round end wood underframe.pdf How can I order these wonderful creations? Ordering is simple: email DR3Dmodels@outloook.com Please allow 28 days from payment of the e-invoice for delivery of the prints. P & P is £5 per order (2nd class parcel post), orders over £60 post free. What are you working on for future releases? Ok, so coaches plus more NPCS and wagons are in development. The current plans (which, let's face it are based on stuff that I want for my own layout) include: 4GWR-016 GWR ex CMR iron bodied china clay wagon (dumb buffers at one end only) - now available to order! 4GWR-018 GWR 3 plank wagon (square end, wooden u/f) 4GWR-019 GWR 1 plank wagon 16’ O/H (15’6” in clear) 4GWR-020 GWR 1 plank wagon 18’ O/H (17’6” in clear) 4GWR-021 GWR 1 plank wagon 18’6 O/H (18’ in clear) 4GWR-022 GWR 1 plank wagon 17’6” O/H (17’ in clear) 4GWR-024 GWR Broad Gauge U20 1st/2nd 6 wheeled composite 4GWR-025 GWR Broad Gauge U21 1st/2nd 6 wheeled composite 4GWR-026 GWR Broad Gauge U28 1st/2nd 6 wheeled clerestory composite 4GWR-027 GWR Standard Gauge U20 1st/2nd 6 wheeled composite 4GWR-028 GWR Standard Gauge U21 1st/2nd 6 wheeled composite 4GWR-028 GWR Standard Gauge U28 1st/2nd 6 wheeled composite 4GWR-029a GWR Standard Gauge 46ft 6in E19/20 brake tricomposite with oil lamps on roof 4GWR-029b GWR Standard Gauge 46ft 6in E19/20 brake tricomposite with flat flame gas lamps on roof 4GWR-029c GWR Standard Gauge 46ft 6in E19/20 brake tricomposite with incandescent gas lamps on roof 4GWR-030 GWR Broad Gauge 46ft 6in E19/20 brake tricomposite with oil lamps on roof 4GWR-031b GWR Standard Gauge 46ft 6in F1 double slip with flat flame gas lamps on roof 4GWR-031c GWR Standard Gauge 46ft 6in F1 double slip with incandescent gas lamps on roof 4GWR-032 GWR Broad Gauge 46ft 6in F1 double slip with oil lamps on roof 4GWR-033 GWR Broad Gauge 40ft L7 parcels or M2 foreign mails van with oil lamps on roof. 4GWR-034 GWR Standard Gauge 40ft L7 parcels or M2 foreign mails van with oil lamps on roof. All of the above are in design and most have had a test print - although some test prints are more successful than others... ....but CAD and 3d printing can be slow, so if you are desperate for one of the above promised 'in development' prints do please be patient! If you've read this far, thank you for your attention and interest. If you are interested in these prints please email me on DR3Dmodels@outlook.com Thanks again, Duncan
  8. I'll ask. The instructions might be useful... D
  9. Me! The next project after I’ve finished scratching the broad gauge itch is to go back to the 1900 to 1914 period. 😁 D
  10. The first test print of the Dean 40ft L7 parcels van or M2 foreign mails van did not go to plan…. Duncan
  11. I've messaged the owner to see if he has any copies he can scan and send on. Duncan
  12. Andy,

Apparently I can't PM you - could you (or another admin) PM me as I have a question to ask you?

    Regards,

  13. Mikkel, Thank you for your kind words and support. This is the next opportunity/problem - the E19 brake tri-composite. Above is the Broad Gauge one, below the standard gauge one. The hold up for this and the 6 wheelers is the post 1906 (ish) variants with information desperately needed on the gas piping and control arrangements for flat flame and incandescent lights on the roof and above all the end, as well as the layout of the automatic vac brake indication system that was fitted in and after the 1900s - the ears high up on the coach end that showed if the emergency chain had been pulled. If you or anyone else have drawings or clear images that will speed development! Regards, Duncan
  14. The coal wagons with the diamond in the white circle could be the South Wales Coal Company of Hereford. I'm sure there is an entry for them in one of the Lightmoor PO collections books. Duncan

  16. Having helped the owner of Modelstock sort out the ABS 4mm range, I can confirm that there were a number of ex D&S cast wagon kits in the range, more importantly there were masters too - but whether all the masters were transferred from Adrian to allow the production of kits is a different matter and one we’re still grappling with. Duncan
  17. Very impressive. Looking forward to seeing some close ups post processing! Duncan
  18. This is fantastic work. Will it be out on the exhibition circuit? Duncan
  19. Calm down all. It’s just the army doing a bit of posturing to get everyone thinking that they have the only solution to deal with Russia prior to a defence review some time in 2025. They are terrified that people will realise that they can only give the Russians the sort of war the Russian want and the Russians are most likely to win ie short, land centric and a single theatre of operations. To deter Russia - which is the name of the game - you have to persuade the Russians that they are going to get the sort of war that they don’t want and can’t win ie long, multiple theatres of operations, and not land focused. Besides, the Poles and many other members of NATO have lots a tanks already. The British army won’t even be noticed if it doesn’t turn up (strategic irrelevance is another fear for the pongoes....). D
  20. Let me guess: cyclone stopped play venomous spider stopped play convict stopped play…
  21. No, but since the last update I seem to have occasional problems with apparently random error messages when using the hollow function. D
  22. Hi Steve, Is that an 1854 class? It’s very nice. A couple of points: you haven’t mirrored the front sand box and there should be daylight not a solid footplate between the frames from the rear of the smoke box to the front of the fire box. I might have the cab arrangement for a 3541st which will give you a good idea for early Dean condition tank locos. I’ll have a look and pm you. Duncan
