Hi Everyone (mods please move if there is a better place for this topic) I’m a Product Design student who has to complete a final year project. I have a real interest in the rail industry and would love to base my final year project around this. Ideally I need a real life scenario and problem to work with therefore I was wondering if anyone could think of the largest issues in the railway sector right now which could be solved through a product, app, service, technology innovation etc. At this stage I’m just looking for ideas and am still a few months away from pitching this project. But any suggestions would be much appreciated. Whilst I am an enthusiast, I am by no means an expert on the ins and outs of the real railway, so would appreciate any insights. Many thanks, Matthew

Battlesbury Yard is my first proper layout, and represents a fictional MoD rail served yard in Wiltshire. The layout is 3.5ftx1ft, with a short fiddle road to allow trains to completely leave the scene. To make the build more interesting, I have decided to set myself a £120 budget for the layout, although I have cheated slightly by using left over track, and using the controller and some rolling stock from my other layout Westbury - which is a 5ftx6ft oval. The trackplan is shown below: Here is some other key information: -DCC Controlled -Motive Power from a Hornby 08 and a Hornby Sentinel - both not overly prototypical for the setting but they represent the best options for me -Rolling Stock includes a modern Hattons Warwell, a couple of EWS open wagons and some lowmacs - again not prototypical but just standing in for more Warwells I've been working on the layout for a few weeks now, having spent £79 so far, I'm pleased with progress. Here is an overview of the layout currently, it is straight, but the slightly dodgy panorama picture would suggest otherwise I look forward to sharing more updates with you, for those of you on Instagram, feel free to follow westburymodelrail - my account where I provide almost daily updates as to what I'm doing Thanks for looking, Matthew
