  1. May be worth popping along to your local model railway club and chat through your ideas. If you Google UK Model Shops you will be able find Model Railway Clubs in your area. Eltel
  2. Sorry I don’t agree, having been to the IPMS convention many times over the years and regular owner and operator of both my own club layouts the two types of shows are totally different. I agree the standard of Modeling at IPMS events are first class and many model railway layouts don’t reach the same standards. The major difference is with model railways we operate the layout for the whole time of exhibition, we’re as at the IPMS they all sit around and chat to each other. The IPMS organisers must be making a fortune out of all the traders attending. I like all railway modeller are not looking to make a profit out of attending exhibitions, but equally not costing themselves money to attend especially if the exhibition is being run by a commercial organisation to make a profit for the shareholders. 3. I have had for well over 20+ years the Optivisor which was/is expensive but has lasted all these years. Terry
  4. Andy and all the BRM Team After being at the club tonight I think it’s fair to say that all Stafford Railway Circle members are fully behind you, as we were for Warley Club right from the outset. Good on you BRM Terry
  5. Is it just a rumour that Bachmann will be introducing a Flying Scotsman to there range.
  6. If we wish to attract new railway modellers to the hobby perhaps Bachmann are taking the opportunity to look at the railways in the UK in the 1960s and onwards and those people now will perhaps be the modellers of the future. They will want to model the railway scene as it was in the 60s, 70s, 80s and onwards when they were trainspotters. Just a thought……
  7. And to add to that you will not be able claim back the vat on your Hotel bill as Key Publishing will be able to do.
  8. Great exhibition with some very inspirational smaller layouts, well worth the admission price and a 186mile round trip from Stafford Well done to all the club team, layout owners and operators, demonstrators and traders. Great atmosphere. oh and the sausage bap was first class, Phil Parker can have is cakes, sausage bap for me See you next year. Terry Stafford Railway Circle
  9. Hi Andy, Nick said he had spoken to you recently. Great pity we have lost another model shop, but if wasn’t for you and Nick, plus a few others it would closed along time ago. Terry
  10. Tutbury Models shop has now closed for good and all the stock has been sold. Terry

  12. Well we got there in the end….. Let us all enjoy our modelling at whatever standard we set ourselves, from tracks around the attic or laying some set track on the carpet to 2mm Finescale or P4 or any finescale modelling. Lets all do what we want to do and enjoy our model railways, join a club if you want too, or don’t Support your local exhibition and model shop, or as they say USE IT OR LOSE IT So as my mum use to say “All play Nicely” Then everyone is a happy bunny.
  13. My concern is that are we losing visitors to exhibitions because they wait for a YouTube video to be uploaded I guess some of the YouTubers may be actually taking revenue away from visitors who would have paid admission to the exhibition. Any thoughts
  14. I don’t think the 20 to 30 that attend our clubroom on Tuesday & Thursdays evenings would be very happy if the club closed.. I reckon about 70% of our membership are not actively involved in any modelling activities at home at all, for all sorts of reasons. I totally accept that many modellers don’t want to join a club and that’s fine. “The hobby does not need clubs or their shows in order to survive “ What a load of rubbish ! Terry
  15. ***The only shows I can think of which are stepping up a gear are Manchester, Chatham, and Thornbury. Not much, 2 years into "recovery"*** May I please correct you as Stafford has expanded and now has almost twice the floor spaced, more layouts, quality traders and demonstrators than prior to COVID We are last weekend in September, Free car parking for 2500 vehicles, Free bus service from Stafford Station on both Saturday & Sunday. Please have look at the comments placed on RMWEB after last year’s exhibition Full details of the exhibition will be here on RMEB first in the next few weeks. Terry
  16. Having my morning coffee this morning at just before 8.00 am BBC Breakfast Time ran a five minute news clip about the recent news about Hattons & Warley NEC Exhibition The item was filmed at Stamford Model Railway Club and was in my opinion a much more accurate news clip that models railways was in good shape both from a manufactures and the model railway club scene. Stamford Club reported a increase in its membership recently in the news item I can report the same at Stafford Railway Circle in that we have seen an increase in new modellers joining the club over the last 12 months with about seven new faces regularly at the clubroom. We currently have a group of six new members new to the hobby building a small layout with the help and guidance of one of our members on a Saturday morning. Our to local model shop Topp Trains is also always busy supplying the local model railway enthusiasts needs, and is seeing a lot of new faces getting involved with model railways as a hobby. So let’s all move on and enjoy our hobby. Terry
  17. A very fitting tribute to the late Howard Martin who was always so supportive in anything NG Like Howard Clarke (Nobby) a great influence on my modelling. The Small and Delightful exhibition was like Warley in that I never missed it and had the pleasure in Exhibiting there on a number of times. As I remember once with Ecclestone Manor a micro Gn15 layout and also Alstone Quay a 0.16.15 layout which when I retired the layout Howard purchased it from me. Martin also gave a lot of support to Steve Bennett who was one of the pioneers of resin models especially in 09 and Gn15 We must no forget also all the work he did with 7mm NG Association being the chairman for many years. Gone but definitely not forgotten. I hope the exhibition goes well and weather permitting etc I will try and come along. Terry Robinson Stafford Railway Circle
  18. Yes likewise when I have been in Devon,I have popped in for a browse normally finding something of interest. Terry
  19. It is no coincidence that the Guild Show and the Stafford Railway Circle exhibition are at the same venue, as a club we offered our assistance to the O Gauge Guild with the move to Stafford and assisting where we could and some Stewards were SRC members for 2022 Guild. Exhibition At that time the Stafford Railway Exhibition was held annually on the first weekend In February each year so the two exhibitions were six months apart, However with Covid still a major issue in the winter months 2021/2022 both the Showground management and Stafford Railway Circle agreed the larger space would be a wiser decision for all concerned. Layouts, Traders and of course the general public The hall hire is double the cost of the three smaller halls. So please do make the effort too attend the Stafford Railway Circle exhibition as well as the Guild event as both events need your support. Terry Robinson SRC Exhibition Team
