  1. You forgot rat and mouse piddle!
  2. But..... I don't think the washing machine is used for preparing the cake mix....
  3. If its working as expected with a blanking plug fitted then its reasonable to expect that it will work fine with a decoder fitted. I suspect the vendor had a use for a previously fitted decoder that they then removed for sale and couldn't be bothered to leave the loco functional under DC!
  4. @Tony_S I've two* slow cookers. They're excellent for making casseroles and stews, especially when using cheaper, tougher cuts of meat. I use them mainly in the winter and freeze what I don't eat immediately for later. Toasted sandwich makers, panini presses and the like are the sort of gadget that get used once or twice and then ends up in the darkest deepest recesses of a cupboard, never to be used again... * "small" and "large". Admittedly the small one (3.5l) gets used more often!
  5. Sounds like a basic version of Chimpys steak cooking anecdote! There are a couple of advantages with an air fryer compared with a conventional fan oven. 1. A smaller heating element 2. A smaller volume of space to heat up and keep warm. Thats where the cost savings come in. Provided what you're cooking fits inside, it'll take about the same amount of time to cook, but'll use less energy.
  6. My mother had the Dualit version of that over a decade ago... The problem with all these cooking fads is that we'll start running out of space on the kitchen worktop!

  9. How about a walking stick with a drawing pin sellotaped to the bottom as an added precaution? Good luck!
  10. Re dentures, before the NHS "working class" people, especially women, would have a trip to the dentists as their 21st birthday present, to have all their teeth removed and a full set of shiny new dentures fitted. To be fair, by time they were 21, their teeth might be rotting away already, preventative dental treatment not being a normal procedure for children pre-NHS. It saved a lot of continuing pain and occasional dental visits. After the introduction of FREE NHS dental treatment, there was a flood of men and women wanting complete extractions and full dentures. Partial dentures were not as popular because vulcanite and then plastic ones were relatively bulky and fragile, and before the introduction of cobalt-chrome, metal dentures were gold and thus rather expensive, even on the NHS. It was this demand for dentures on the NHS that led to charges being introduced for dental treatment, charges that have become more onerous as years have gone by. Where were we? 🤔🤪
  11. Dry and fairly calm this side of the moat.... According to the Met Office, its going to be sunny for most of the day, with wet expected by 8pm.
  12. Good thing the animals ain't rabbits. You'd be hard pushed to tell the beans from the rest...

  15. As far as Morely controllers go they are very effective. I have a Vector Zero Three Crawler dual controller and it works very well with a wide range of locos. It has the same sort of power output as an H&M Duette but the power is more controllable, and the provided "wander controllers" are very useful! As I understand it, the Vanguard is a high output dual controller ( 2.5A per track), mainly for O gauge or for OO where a large layout needs powering or locos requiring high current (eg old Hornby Dublo) are in use. If you have high power requirements then you might need a Vanguard. http://morleycontrollers.com/default.asp
  16. But its quicker and easier to install a blanking plug than start cutting and soldering... Plus if its sold on at a later date, being DCC Ready might be an advantage.

  18. Issue 1 is a collectors item 🤪 Well, a lot of people seem to want that dratted coach!
  19. You would need to go through the installments to see what was present. There were 120 issues. It would be sensible to batch parts where the components made a whole building or whatever. Anything else could either be sold individually or as job lots of misc items.
  20. I used to have one of those little Mamod steam engines and it had a spirit tray burner. When filling, it was easy to get the meths on your fingers and naturally, you would occasionally forget and lick your fingers afterwards. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it...
  21. Greedy little bu@gers... I'll have to time myself over the measured £10 then work out how much my times worth*.... 🤔🤪 * At pensioner rate...

  23. But you still have to sort the 1p sheep from the 2p goats. You can't mix 'em in coin bags!
