  1. Latest project on the WB - converting a spare L/L 37 425 Bodyshell to 37 420 The Scottish Hosteller Removal of the orange cant rail lining/current OHWF/numbers, and cab door springs (to allow for open doors) New 37 420 nameplates - Shawplan EE (redrawn) Transfers: L/L No's - DRD Earlier OHW flashes - Replica Highland Rail Stags - ? Western Region lamp irons - Shawplan EE More as work progresses
  2. Most 8pin Decoders have 4 function outputs White/Yellow wires front/rear lights Aux1 Green wire Aux 2 Purple wire. If you need 6 or more function outputs probably easier to replace the HJ circuit board and use a 51968 adaptor board along with a 21pin Lok V4.3 HTH
  3. Outstanding job on that big 47 Lee, very impressive, this the work of your new Airbrush ?
  4. Yep only the Modelmaster with Removal Varnish coating on the packet.
  5. It's the transfers need to be fully dry BEFORE you attempt to remove the film. Acrylic varnish will dry much quicker than enamel varnish which is best left for 24hrs + to fully cure else it might react to the white spirit used to remove the transfer film.
  6. For successful removal of the film, the transfers need to be applied to a gloss surface, either Gloss Varnish /Klear/Humbrol Clear Gloss - enamel or acrylic varnish can be used, and then left to fully dry for a day or more. Then using a brush dipped in white spirit gently wipe over the whole transfer and then work the brush under the edge/corner of the film and the film should come away leaving just the image. Then seal the image by lightly spraying a varnish coat of matt or satin.... HTH
  7. Suggest you don't use thinners especially the quick drying variety with enamel varnishes, either use special varnish thinners or good quality white spirit, which is cheaper. Either will flash off more slowly and allow a smooth overall coating to form ,avoid spraying any varnish in damp/high humidity conditions. HTH
  8. Phoenix Precision do a Dirty Black P981 quite a useful colour.........and Railmatch have a weathered Black R412 both being enamels, Railmatch R412 may also be avail in Acrylic
  9. Now available - L/L Blue 37 012 Loch Rannoch. Looks very smart indeed with the Dark Grey roof and Yellow cant rail stripes. Worthy of note : the Black band around the top edge of the front cab windows, unlike L/L 37 401 etc, has been applied correctly to this model. According to the info I have to hand, 37 012 and a handful of other 37/0's were painted with this version of L/L livery during 1985 at ED, but apparently with Black roofs. Anyone know for sure which colour was used/ is correct ? Thanks to Derails for the excellent service/price and speedy FREE delivery - recommended - would use again in the future...............
  10. Arrived this morning from Derails - 37 012 L/L Blue Loch Rannoch - very nicely finished, looks smart with it's Dark Grey roof and Yellow Cant Rail Stripes. Of note the Black band round the top edge of the front cab windows, unlike L/L 37 401 etc, has been applied correctly this time. Great service from Derails, price matched the big box shifters and delivered FREE via RM 24hr Special Delivery - well recommended - would use again.
  11. After cleaning both mating surfaces, removing as much superglue residue as possible, try 2 part 5min Epoxy Adhesive, like Araldite or Devcon. If the chassis and buffer beam are both metal - use the METAL version of Araldite. HTH
  12. Many thanks Rob for that excellent link, loads of info on there..... Regards Ken
  13. What's best to clean the airbrush out after using Johnson's original Klear ? Cellulose Thinners perhaps.... Suggestions welcome.... TIA
  14. A lot of work and extra cost, I'm quite happy to wait for an SLW sound fitted proper Highland version 24/1 confident it will every bit as good as their 24...if not better......
  15. According to the BR Corporate Identity Manual: BR Flame Red You might get a Red in the Humbol range that's close failing that Halfords may ? be able to mix it up or perhaps have a similar colour. HTH
  16. Wanted Bachmann 39-350/39-351 MK2z Blue Grey coaches, preferably boxed, but any reasonable condition considered TIA
  17. Fresh off the WB 37 043 BR Blue Loch Lomond converted from a 37 049. Features working scale ScR car type headlights.
  18. Enjoyed the first part, especially the tag that was mentioned - STABLE - "Stash acquired beyond life expectancy" how true - must be many of us in that camp............ The confrontation during an exhibition between SK and whoever ? in part 2 should prove interesting..........
  19. Try Replica Railways themselves, they might have some left. www.replicarailways.co.uk 01793 642 594 HTH
  20. Not all Modelmaster transfers have a removal varnish coating - only those marked similar to below:
  21. Straight out of the box the DBSO should have directional lighting using address 03 . Try setting the loco your using with it to 03 address also and then see what happens. Have you changed the DBSO address or any of it's CV's ? Rather odd the tail lights don't work on it at all..... HTH
  22. Won't be any signs of alteration from the outside, so it's highly unlikely the council would find out, unless of course via any "nosey bl***y neighbours" ..............
  23. Bachmann's forthcoming L/L Blue 47 711. Despite searching through numerous photos, can't find any with a square HI headlight fitted in this livery. AFAIK both L/L 47 711/712 only had the round ScR car type headlights replaced with square HI units when repainted into ScotRail Exec livery. Anyone got a photo or link that shows differently ? TIA https://www.Bachmann.co.uk/product/branchline-class-47-7-47711-greyfriars-bobby-br-blue-large-logo-31-665/
  24. It's an early BR Blue 122 I have. I dismantled it, removed the motor and fitted a small oblong piece of 6mm thick soft foam between the motor and chassis, it's now much quieter and that annoying hum is almost completely gone. Once the motor is removed, there is a very small piece of thin insulation already under it, which I removed. HTH
