  1. The other "original" BR Blue Loch's are more or less a straight re-number/re-name from an 026, apart from 081 which was an RSH build so to be accurate would require the extra cant rail grille support strips added. The BR Blue "Loch's" also had Black Headcode boxes/Lower White body lining stripes and ScR Car type headlights fitted at various times.
  2. AFAIR the only Bach 37 that had cast bogie frames was 37 671 Tre Pol & Pen in R/F Dist livery. HTH
  3. Can anyone confirm if Bach 32-785DS 37 254 in Dutch Livery came with a Loksound V4 or a SELECT sound decoder ? TIA
  4. The original Lima body glazing part was altered on the Hornby Railroad 47's to fit over their new motor...the Lima glazing can be cut to fit.
  5. The original SLW 24 was an excellent model, and really raised the bar, the sound quality was also superb. The new RTC 24 once again looks really good. Some of the upgrades are quite noticeable, the glazing, pipe retaining clips on the bogie frames, not so sure about the rad grills from the photo above, be interesting to view these along side the originals ? Perhaps it it will be more apparent once a model is to hand. Roll on the new ScR BR Blue tops ones, and the Highland 24/1's.
  6. One way of doing it, is to use either KD NEM 17/18/19/or 20's - depends on the radius of the curves used. Basically, cut off the tails, and then file a groove in each side of the main body so it will fit/push up into the Vi coupling bar, easier done than explained. HTH
  7. AFAIK only Phoenix Precision Paints have these in their range of enamels.
  8. Okey-Dokey - thanks for the quick response...........
  9. Any update on the ETA of the Provincial 156's ?
  10. Your "Freezer" tip worked well on most bodyshells I've tried, ( left overnight) but not for some reason on the Rep Edition 37 142......... some of the side windows broke before the glue let go - so left the cab ones and resorted to time consuming masking.....
  11. Looking for some Bachmann 36-059 Intermodal coupling bars - the EARLIER longer type - as per photo or happy to swap some new (shorter) versions and cover postage costs. Bachmann revised this part, and made them shorter, but the part No remained the same. TIA
  12. For the Caledonian Swoosh Livery All Phoenix Precision Paints P304 Silver Grey P305 Purple P306 Violet Not sure about the First Group version colours ? P298 First Group Blue ? P304 Silver Grey - (Maybe) ? HTH
  13. Can Johnson's KLEAR be thinned with water ..... ? anyone tried it........... mine appears to have gone a bit thicker with age ........... TIA
  14. Yep household mains 3 core T&E power socket cable, strip off the outer Grey insulation and use the inner insulated main cores. Droppers can then be soldered to the main bus wires at the required points. This tool or a similar one, is very useful for removing small parts of the insulation to allow the soldering of droppers. 15. It's a two minute job to remove the 8 pin decoder plug and fit a blanking plug - it should then run on DC - this alone, should not invalidate the warranty, and you can then check the model at least works. One you have a DCC controller you can then set CV29 to enable DC running - if found necessary. HTH
  16. Perhaps just swap over the tanks - rather than re-number it ? assuming the tank switches are in the same position.....
  17. Hi Dave Sorry to be critical of such wonderful modelling, but 47 018 had a plated over round spanner boiler port and battery box only under tanks (when in RF livery) Regards Ken
  18. I've used a few, worked well in Bachmann locos etc, good value for the price, although they have gone up, like all other things ! HTH
  19. Although I don't model in FS - I had problems with a number of Bachy 37/47's derailing on code 75. After experimenting, I found on all the ones with problems, all had the center drive axle lower than the outer two, causing the bogie to rock back an fore, pivoting on the lower center axle, this also causes growling noises. By removing the centre axles on both bogies and then trial runnning on 4 axles - no more noise or derailing. Most can be cured by using a round file to slightly lower the center plastic brass bearing housing - a little at a time from the bottom edge only, there's normally enough play in the mesh of the gears to allow for this. First check is to use a metal ruler hard against the flanges, or a piece of plate glass, on problem locos it will be quite obvious that the center axle is lower than the outer pair, sometimes one side is OK and the other out on the same bogie. HTH
  20. Yep really enjoyed the catch up ER , and the chance to run those "beasts" ........will bring the R/F 26 next time with Paul Chetter's ActiveDrive and twin Zimo dumbo speakers (see top of this thread) For full underframe tanked 26/27's Charlie's tank replacement moulding with a 20 x 48 speaker is worth considering, can only find the speaker on his latest site ? not the enclosure with speaker. https://www.dckits-devideos.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=223_75&product_id=394 Plenty info above if you wish to try fitting an EM2 into a 47 - but a lot of work, not quite as good as the 37's, but still impressive..... C U sometime soon Ken
  21. Shawplan do marker light rings, Express Models for Lighting Kits. HTH
  22. Is it the "Antiseptic" Dettol, the brown stuff that your using ? although I've not tried it yet, shows good results on some YouTube vids..... Another option is Deluxe Materials Strip Magic - again vids on using on YT..... HTH
  23. Perhaps ask the supplier of the LED's if the wire is available separately ? It's possibly Micro-Litz stranded wire, magnet wire could be used as a alternative...
  24. Worth trying a small size O Pozidrive screwdriver they tend to have better grip and a less pointed end.
