Am I doing something wrong? In the e-mail from AS there are links to Support such as fitting bufferbeam detail, body removal etc. When I click on them all I get is a Support page with a pic of 55016 but I can progress no further. Suggestions please, many thanks.

Go to www.accurascale.co.uk > open menu > then news & support > then FAQ > wait till page loads ......

So I've re-fixed the foot steps and guard irons and was about to start on one buffer beam detail and etchings, when I noticed things  shown in the following pics. The plastic must be very weak, noticed a small mark (glue!) above door once I got my magnifiers on, so scraped with fingernail and actually managed to put a bow in the plastic rail!!!!  Never had this happen before with a fingernail scrape on other manufacturers models. Then noticed some paint had come away above bar on fan beam.  I believe Humbrol garter blue is a good match.  I'm almost frightened to touch the thing now, so am gonna have some lunch and come back later.

EDIT:  I wonder if the body is reversible as this is speedo drive side which I want see going round?

That's interesting, wonder how easy it will be to 're-number/'re-name a model without damaging the Blue ? Anyone tried this yet ?

I would be interested in observations with regard to fitting all the buffer-beam detail. Personally, I found it very fiddly as there are no location holes, merely recesses, thus they have to be glued in place. As these parts are the most vulnerable on the model, if they get damaged and need to be replaced (assuming these parts will be offered as spares), then it's going to be far more problematic than pulling out a damaged pipe and re-inserting a replacement.

Instead of CA (super glue) try using Deluxe Materials Tacky Glue, will make it easier to replace any damaged pipes etc....

The Bachmann DMUs have metal contacts which the metal axles sit directly into, and I think this is what causes the squeak (metal on metal). I have this issue with some of my 150s and haven’t found a solution to it.

Try adding small spots of Peco Electrolube on the rubbing area of the metal pick up strips, should solve the squeaking.......

Thanks checked with Bachmann first before posting,  they dont

have the Class 37 ones either if any one has any might be suitable.

Don't know about the 10000 type, but try Rainbow Railways, they had good quality 3D printed Bach 37 Air Horns on eBay.

You have to feel for Ben having put his heart and soul into the 25/45/47 models with two being challenged by other manufacturers, I guess for us it will come down to price at the end of the day "……it’s becoming a crowded market place.

Yes I'd agree, but with this new Bachmann announcement, there will be no room for any errors in the new Heljan model for it to compete, although the price comparison should prove interesting !

I purchased this product a couple of years ago having watched the manufacturers' video.

It is excellent at removing all paint if you need to get back to bare plastic.

However, be aware that it has different reaction times to some paints.  I purchased the product basically for removing just numbers / lettering, leaving the base colour.  They say on their tutorial that this is achievable by neutralising the product with IPA as soon as the number disappears (see at 3:49 on the video) .

I applied it to my Heljan Class 58 but in a few seconds the black plastic of the body moulding appeared!  I didn't get time to apply the IPA!

I haven't used the product since.  I found it much more aggressive and quick acting than advertised.

Interesting, I've not used it on any Heljan models, often white spirit removes No's/names without damage to the paint on these.

Provided one's careful/quick Strip Magic will remove sector markings/numbers on 3T Grey Bachmann locos without affecting the Greys underneath.

Mask off the brandings apply the Strip Magic sparingly, for a minute or two and then apply some IPA/meth to stop the reaction.

“ Modelstrip” used to be really good for removing paint from plastic bodies but I understand it’s discontinued. Does anyone know of an alternative?

Deluxe Materials Strip Magic...avail from most hobby shops/eBay etc.

Vids of using on YouTube .....

Try  brian55hanson@icloud.com. He’s often a few days behind due to the volume of orders. Sometimes correspondence gets lost, but a reminder normally does the job.

Thanks for the info.....got an order response in less than 3 hours......job done........

  11. Converted from a Bach BR Blue 47 035  - faded and weathered 47 145 Merddin Emrys" as it was at Tinsley in the early 90's.  My first proper attempt at weathering, was a lot of work but I'm pretty happy with the results. New working HI headlights and ship/shore cab aerials added.

I ended up getting a replacement from Bachman and kept the old kit for spares.

Noticed you managed to get new nose circuit boards.  I was working today on an early Bach 47 which also has the headlights missing.  I removed the nose end circuit boards and fitted a 1K SMD resistor at R6 along with a capacitor ( I robbed it from an old Bach circuit board) at C6 together with new White LED's - result working headlights with the markers. So it can be done.

    Ken

Edit:  The capacitor is not required, just the a new LED and a 1K resistor, works fine without.

just tried my Peckett which i think has a R8249 in, on Programme  track ,f8, DIR,ADR PUT #8720 in, worked, but when i came to change it back to #4,error 02, only way i could change number was a factory reset, try a reset then add your number

I reset the decoder - CV8 = 8  I then tried once again to change it's address on the prog track - F8 >DIR > ADR > 8720 > on pressing enter  > error 02..... time to move on....thankfully I normally avoid Hornby decoders, using Zimo/Loksound/Hatton's/TCS and Lenz instead, never had any issues with those.

I'm taking it, by all the question you don't have a manual for the lenz 100.

use page mode same as cv mode page 55

    https://www.dccconcepts.com/manual/lenz-owners-manual-lh100-throttle-handset/

Thanks for the link  - I have a manual but it's an older version, 08/04 - so no page 55   - although the Set 100 has been updated to V3.6  I'll have another look at it using the linked manual.

As I recall the R8215 has a red blob and the R8249 a blue one.

Yep definitely an R8249 with a BLUE spot.

You can do POM address changing as long as you know the address........

Which you need to know when doing any POM anyway.

Although some systems/decoders may not allow address changing via POM.

Basically I want to change the default address of 03 to 8720....

So to use POM - F > 7 and then what...?
