  1. Technically a class 800 series announcement, sent earlier. I understand additionally these shall be class 803s straight electric with a battery power pack. Image is a CGI and not the final design. Expected to be built in Newton Aycliffe.
  2. It is subject to much speculation, I have been informed the last 'passenger' day is Friday 10th May with Saturday 11th featuring four special runs timed to arrive into Paddington at the same time. But there is still a view the last passenger day shall be Saturday 18th May. I suspect we shall not know 100% until the end of April. Both thoughts, follow on the Monday with the last three IET diagrams starting. The last HST passenger diagram shall be: 1C98 21.03 Paddington - Plymouth
  3. Nearly there with the GWR (Eversholt) deliveries, within the next 30 days - shall move straight onto the TPE (Angel) deliveries with these being delivered in pairs as per the 802/0s. GWR IET Status 18/03/19 800/0 001/002 - Hitachi/Agility Trains West Accepted, Used for testing till May, Bristol/North Pole. 003-036 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 34/36. 800/3 301-321 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 21/21. 802/0 001-022 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 22/22. 802/1 101-108 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 8/14. 109-112 - Hitachi Commissioning, North Pole 113 - en route 114 - Hitachi, Pistoia, Italy.
  4. Would you happen to have a photo of the data panel? As this one is going to bug me! Wabtec call the Angel/Scotrail coach A - TFC. I can only assume it is locally being re-titled once on depot. The data panel shall solve this one for us! Interesting! I was wondering whether their other attempts correct. Clearly not!
  5. The joys of a publicly owned company, anyone can put in an FOI. I assume you are the original person who requested this information? Seen here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/seating_plans_for_the_new_800_an Quite a lot of LNER FOI requests, who shall be the first to ask for all planned diagrams? https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/body/lner
  6. Though in principle they seem good, my expertise lies with the Wabtec modified Mk3 coach. The formations (and to an extent the coding is wrong - which I know is a Hornby issue, not yours - but do not fear they have been informed) are incorrect for the GWR 'Castle' GTi set. The formation is actually: A - TGS (Wifi pods on roof and ‘butterfly' external door) B - TS C - TSD D - TS (with ‘butterfly' external door) As for Scotrail, the issue centres around the TGFB. This does not exist and the coach is actually a TFC. Angel/Scotrail are not fitting a TGS with first class seating and a 'cafe' service area. But a TF is being converted with a small 'cafe' area and some guard space. The formations are: A - TFC (ex-TF) with a catering area, guards space and ‘butterfly' external door B - TSD (Wifi pods on roof) C - TSB (B for Bike space) D - TSL E - TSL(with ‘butterfly' external door)
  7. Brawa do them nicely in HO, but forgive me, I do not know enough about the scale differences to know would there be enough space between wagon skirt frame and bogie to allow for 2nd radius in OO? Yet appears to be €130 which some might say is a little rich for a wagon. I would pay though, but would the mass market?
  8. I would rather an additional GBRf 92 in 'revised europorte' out of 028 or 043 than the stobart livery, personally. Ideally 92028. I am covered with DRS traction for the Stobart/Tesco superliners.
  9. Fantastic news, it is well known Kernow is a favourite of mine. Aren't the Wessex Electrics due to start running through Guildford this May timetable change?
  10. Noticed on the RevolutioN site, looking rather nice! http://www.revolutiontrains.com/revolution-in-scotland/
  11. I've been trying to keep track of the following. Expanding out from GWR accepted units, onto what was built where: *Note: Kasado is building 20 IEP trainsets for Agility Trains East (allowing delivery to 'speed' up due to NA delays). Ten thus far built/delivered (800103/105/107/109/111/112/113, 801103/105/107). Remaining ten expected from 801/2 (some might have seen me asking this elsewhere, subsequently I have leaned on contacts to get a strong indication that the additional 10 shall be from the 801/2s - there is a reason why the 801/2 delivery needs to be accelerated - nothing to do with 1st Jan 2020 on the ECML but on another line.... speculate away!). AT300 Builds Kasado, Japan Complete Trains: 800001/002/003/004 800101/103/105/107/109/111/112/113 800201/202 800301/302/303 801101/102/103/105/107 801201/202* 802001/002 802101 802201/202 802301 (Additional 802s TBC) Body Shells: 800005-036 800102/104/106/108/110 800203-210 800304-321 801104/106/108-112 801203-230* 802003 (shipped to Pistoa) Pistoa, Italy Complete Trains: 802004-022 802102-114 802203-319 (TBC as Kasado is to build 'additional') 802302-305 (TBC as Kasado is to build 'additional') Fit out: 802003 Newton Aycliffe, UK Fit out: 800005-036 800102/104/106/108/110 800203-210 800304-321 801104/106/108-112 801202-230*
  12. If I dare speculate... Bogies for the 800s have all been manufactured in Japan. Whereas, bogies for the 802s have been manufactured in Italy (apart from 802001/002/003/101). I think everyone in the industry admits that the 800s are what they are due to the IEP TTS. Whereas, Hitachi is able to offer 'customer' specification on any AT-300 build (in the case of GWR/Eversholt = 802s). What shall be interesting, is on a comparable routes how the Agility East IEP sets (800/801s) compared to TPE 802s (York-Newcastle) and HT 802s (Kings Cross to Doncaster). Yes, I know some of the TPE/HT 802s shall be built in Japan and others in Italy. Which leads me onto...:
  13. Is the pantograph overscale in the CAD because you have the springs/rods internally? Or just a very early CAD? Rest looks awesome!
  14. I am already looking forward to the nonsense that shall be said once aired. Having found myself around a filming day, I got talking to the production company team (off camera). Sounds to be a fascinating programme, looking at how a 'standard' corporate company with everyday big business decisions, also makes these magical toys that generations have loved. It is not a programme for the enthusiast, but for the public to see how such a company operates around a significant re-launch. I am looking really forward to watching!
  15. What nonsense, do you work for the East West Railway Company? The line is going to be double track, electrification is a costed option for a future decision. Current DfT thinking is for regional lines, hydrogen shall be utilised. This fits into recent reports on spreading future traction of the railways across different technologies from bi-mode, through battery, to hydrogen and electric. Of course, *if* common sense prevails and a SRA 2.0 is established, the costed option for electrification might be taken up. But, who shall pay? Current thinking within the DfT and Treasury is that the EWR shall pay for itself, through new towns and tech paying. Yet, I shall give you the benefit of doubt. Your second post was correct about the EWR being more about connection hubs from MK/Bedford etc. Also remember, the EWR is going to support a huge house building campaign. Yes a few academics (I am one) shall travel on the line (we certainly do not take the X5!), yet you forget the huge growth of the technology industry in Cambridge and Oxford, with the EWR connecting two critical centres of the 'new economy'. You'll have more 'techs' than academics using the line. Anyway, HUGELY OFF TOPIC, I thought we were addressing the forum speculation reported as fact on the OP?
  16. Oh dear. Best not to report speculation as a fact. If anyone who subscribes to WNXX would have read, this comment above is far from that reported. 'fake news' I hear crying! Yes, on WNXX Forum there is some speculation as to what the news reported on WNXX might mean, but this is pure speculation and you have taken one and made it a three, then reported here. Question? Why a surprise? It is widely known in the industry that the ECS contract was purely for the movements of the current coaching stock, covering for the class 92 during their modification programme - actually when the ECS contract was first signed, it was even public news on the AC Locomotive Group's webpage.... It has never been the intention to fit the ACLG locomotives with CAF coach systems and Dellner couplers. Likely for Serco/GBRf, in the future there becomes a need for ECS beyond the CS pooled 92/73s, they would spot hire in a ROG locomotive fitted with a Dellner. That is what I understand too, yet one word missing... 'some' 90s.
  17. Bless, haha! In a fantasy world where 'no-deal' occurs, goods bought from EU countries into the UK shall be subjected to UK VAT and Customs Duty. A £225 TPE set, though reduced to £182.93 ex VAT... you shall be legally bound to pay the UK VAT at 20% on delivery, plus Customs Duty set (currently) at 2.5%. One thing I can promise you, you'll be further out of pocket, especially under a no-deal as you'll have additional WTO set costs too.
  18. Basing paint colour on photography is never going to end well. Especially because both the samples and the prototypes shown here are photos, on a screen, which emits light (does not reflect like a paint to the eye).... Trains are more often than not, painted to RAL colour standard, which is predominately a paint specification standard. This certainly shall be the standard used by Hatton's factory. The difficulty with the GBRf livery (I shall not break commercial confidence by sharing specific codes) is the GBRf 'gold' aka orange is specified by GBRf as a Pantone, which is predominately a print specification standard (not to say you cannot get Pantone paints! I shall avoid the tangent of TPE livery using Pantone as a vinyl that is printed...doing what a Pantone should do, but tricky to RAL match). The error here on the model, appears to be down to the process of matching a RAL to a Pantone. Certainly when you use a guide to convert the Pantone, it recommends the RAL on the model. Now naturally, I am sure Hattons know this and shall be specifying Pantone to the GBRf liveries. For sake of point, I attach the Pantone GBRf use and the matched RAL below. Note, this is subjective to your computer screen set up and it an emission of light and does not reflect the printed colour. But you'll see, it 'matches' the prototypes and highlights the problem facing anyone wanting to accurately portray a GBRf livery. Additional note! Some railway manufacturers, shall not use Pantone at all, and shall match to RAL. Thus explains why you do see different shades. Cannot go into that further. Trust me, it is a fascinating world out there! Pantone: RAL:
  19. I find this all very intriguing. Promises, disappointments....how ever you want to call it, reading through this makes for very interesting reading.
  20. Oh but I like the 'funky shaped cab bit'! I shall use this from now on! The DT is certainly 'eye catching'.
  21. This list *should* be up to date: GWR IET Status 20/02/19 800/0 001/002 - Hitachi/Agility Trains West. Accepted by GWR. Used for testing. Passenger service from May 19 TC. 003-036 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 34/36. 800/3 301-321 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 21/21. 802/0 001-022 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 22/22. 802/1 101-106 - GWR Passenger Service. Total available units: 6/14. 107-109 - Hitachi Commissioning, North Pole 110 - enroute 111-114 - Hitachi, Pistoia, Italy. Basically, nearly there!
  22. Well seeing as it is the hour... The terminology by Beacon Rail (owner)/CAF (design/manufacture) of the Mk5A is: DT (Driving Trailer), T2 (Trailer Two with Cycle Space), two x T3 (Trailer Three's), T1 (Trailer One with TSI-PRM Access Toilet, First Class seating, Catering 'Area' and Staff/Guard 'Area') & Locomotive (Class 68).
  23. Only if there was some sort of universal standard manufacturers adhere to these days, hmm, ;) Sorry I tease, clearly we know the Normal European Modelling (NEM) Standards for coupling shall be applied to the Mk5As as they are to the Class 68. Of course, if you are going to push-pull, a Kadee semi-permental coupler is highly advised with the class 68. I believe Hornby’s latest Mk3 coaches come with a new NEM coupling? But then again, I cannot recall any suitable Mk3 livery produced to suit a 68.
  24. Odd statement, you appear to be missing the spot where the hobby is now - 100% spot on detail - just look at other models in development - details, details and fanatical attention to detail! If one is to follow your logic then - the Hornby 66 with a nice livery finish at a distance looks good, the Bachmann 66 must look great?! Glad you are not running a model manufacturing company as the standards in detail that are now coming out of China is staggeringly amazing. Look at the outfits who do not compromise on detail (Accurascale, RealTrack, RevolutioN etc), which demonstrates how spot on perfect the Chinese factories can get things, when attention is paid by the project manager. I suspect, no, I expect the Hatton's 66s to be nothing short of perfect in terms of detail. The Chinese factories are more than capable and by all accounts Hattons Dave shall see the project through to a glorious finish. The point of samples, is to analyse them and make a list of adjustments, no doubt having the 3rd eye of RMWeb only benefits the project manager.
