  1. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, many thanks, Mick, for posting that superb photo’ of D20, 62396, at Bridlington, in 1957. This evening, with thanks to knoxrj, and John Turner, on Flickr, we have another four photo’s to enjoy. The first one is of class K1, 62005, at Filey Holiday Camp station, on the 6th March, 1965. It was there as part of The Whitby Moors Railtour special. Next we have a photo’ of class B1, 61216, at Scarborough, in about the mid Fifties. The third photo’ is a rare view of class X2, 957, seen at Springhead yard, waiting scrapping, in July, 1937. Finally, we have a photo’ of 56074 & 56090 with the Hull Enterprise service for Doncaster, pictured at Melton, East Yorkshire, on the 14th August, 2001. Best regards, Rob.
  2. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Deltic’s at Swayfield, on the ECML. The first photo’ of Class 55, possibly 9001, on the 12.00 Edinburgh to Kings Cross, in September, 1971, is superb, and I can hear the Deltic as it passes by. The black and white photo’s of Cambridge in 1947 and 1948, are a splendid and historical selection. JVol1211, of a class J39, on a down goods train, in 1948, is a beautifully composed photo’ from track level, which makes the engine look most impressive. With warmest regards, Rob.
  3. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Mick, for that most interesting photo’ of Harold. It is fascinating that it possibly was used in the construction of the Joint Dock, in Hull. This evening, courtesy of John Law, Andy Hughes, and knoxrj, all on Flickr, we can enjoy four more photo’s. The first one is a view of ex-H&BR, 0-8-0, 2510, on Springhead shed, in c1925. Next we have a photo’ of class Y8, 560, seen at Hull docks, c1934. The third photo’ shows steam braked only, class J21, 564, at Ferriby, in 1932. Finally, we have a photo’ of 37521 `English China Clay', as it passes the back of HMP Hull, and approaches Southcoates Lane at the head of train, 6D54, Hull Docks to Doncaster Belmont, on the 14th June, 2004.   4. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of the Talyllyn Railway at Abergynolwyn and Tywyn Wharf, and the Vale of Rheidol at Aberystwyth, in 1969, and 1979 respectively. C067, at Tywyn Wharf, with No3 Sir Haydn, in August, 1969, is a superb portrait shot of the locomotive. The photo’s of the ECML north of Newcastle are an excellent set. C5259, at Chevington, with a Class 254 HST, on a down express, on the 3rd January, 1981, is an excellent ‘train in the landscape’ shot. With warmest regards, Rob.
  5. Good evening, everyone. This cold evening, we have another four photo’s to enjoy. They are courtesy of blandford1969, John Turner, John Law, and Richard Stewart, all on Flickr. The first photo’ is a portrait of H&BR, 231, according to the caption, rebuilt as 2511 with an NER style boiler. At Springhead shed, Hull. No date for it’s photo’. The second photo’ shows Sculcoates Goods Yard, with Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0, 43069, which made the journey to North East Hull from the Midland Railway depot at Manningham (55F) in Bradford. The 1950 Doncaster built (to LMS design) "Mogul" is believed to have met it's end by 12th December, 1966, and is seen earlier that month. Next we have a photo’ of H&BR 0-6-0, 2520, at Springhead shed, possibly in the late 1920’s. Finally, here’s a photo’ of 37425 "Concrete Bob", as it passes Hutton Cranswick on train, 3J51, York Thrall to York Thrall via East Yorkshire, RHTT, with 37407 on the rear, on the 15th November, 2023.   6. Good evening, David. That’s an excellent mixed bag of photo’s, with three photo’s around Hindlow and two others. The last photo’ at Kingsbury, on the MR Derby to Birmingham line, of the bridge over the A423, in May, 1971, being a superb shot of the bridge clearly illustrating its design. The photo’s at Winning and Freeman's crossing on the Blyth and Tyne line to Cambois and North Blyth, are a splendid set. C6459, at Freemans crossing, with 37217, on an old ballast train working, in March, 1984, being a particularly excellent composition which also shows the state the 37 is in. The first photo’ is a view of H&BRlwy, 2-4-0, 36, at Cannon Street station, Hull, so this will be a very early photo’. No other details are given. Next, we have a photo’, taken from a passing train, of Thompson B16/3 (rebuild of Raven B16/1) 4-6-0’s 61444 & 61463 in store at Dairycoates, Hull, in c1964. The third photo’ is shows class D49/2, No 205, The Albrighton, near Cottingham, in c1933. Finally, we have a photo’ of 37402 "Stephen Middlemore" & 37401 "Mary Queen of Scots", as they pass Cottingham on train, 3J51, York Thrall to York Thrall via East Yorkshire, RHTT, on the 2nd November, 2021. That’s a fantastic and most atmospheric set of photo’s of Switzerland, on the 5th August, 1978, looking at the Blonay Chamby line which is preserved, also with photo’s of the CEV to Chemin der Fer electriques Veveysans, all taken at Blonay. The first photo’ of Blonay Chamby ex-Brunig & ex BAM Ed3.3, 6, is a truly superb photograph, of both the train and the mountain in the background. The three photo’s on the Midland line from Nottingham to Lincoln, with two others from the Midland, are an excellent selection. The first photo’ at Burton Joyce, with a Class 120, on a Lincoln to Crewe - despite that indicator blind reading Derby - service, on the 8th August, 1977, is an excellent three quarter shot of the unit in what must have been dull weather since the interior saloon lights are clearly visible.   9. Good evening, everyone. This evening, we have four photo’s to see thanks to Richard Stewart, John Law, John Turner, and JSB303, all on Flickr. The first photo’ is a view of of one of the two NER petrol electric railcars, in NER days. No other details are given. Next we have a photo’, from the east end of King George Dock, with BR 350hp (later TOPS Class 08) 0-6-0DE, D3323, then of Dairycoates (50B) depot with a trip working of loaded 13T "Pipe" open wagons heading for the site of the new dock extensions. The churned up land on the left, previously mudflats, probably afforded access to the site for plant machinery. The photo’ is from c1966. The third photo’ is of class G5 tank e, 67282, as it takes a drink at South Howden, while operating a local stopper from Hull in March, 1955. Finally, here’s a photo’ of HST power cars 43272 & 43251, on the approach to Hull at Anlaby Road Junction on train, 1Q17, Derby RTC to Hull. Best regards, Rob.
  10. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of Dent over the years. The first photo’ of LMS 8f, 48641, with snowplough, on an up goods , in May, 1966, is a delightful view of the train. Such a classic composition. The photo’s of Nottingham Midland station from the 1970’s are excellent and full of atmosphere. J2102, of Class 45, D67, on a down coal train, and Class 45, D54, on a Nottingham to Manchester service, in May, 1970, is a superb composition by your Dad. All so different today.   11. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, I have no idea how I got the caption wrong about the first photo’ yesterday. I can only apologise. Well, this evening, we have four photo’s to enjoy thanks to John Law, and Andy Hughes, on Flickr. The first photo’ is at Springhead shed, and is of two 0-6-0’s, 2444 x 2457. The date is not known but possibly the 1930’s. The second one is a view of O4, 6617, again on Springhead shed, in the 1930’s. Next here’s a photo’ of 0-6-2T, 9116, and you are quite right, it’s on Springhead shed again, this time in 1948. Finally, this is a photo’ of 37667 `Meldon Quarry Centenary’, standing at Cottingham, with it's loaded spoil train prior to working train, 8T60, to Doncaster, on the 18th March, 2001.   12. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of the Severn Valley Railway in the 1970’s. The first photo’ at Bridgnorth, with LMS Ivatt Class 2MT, 46521, on a passenger train from Bridgnorth to Bewdley, in October, 1976, is a superb composition of what later on, in the mid 1990’s, was the star in Oh Doctor Beeching! The photo’s from North Wales, between Llangollen Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog, with one of the Menai Bridge, are a splendid selection. C5796, of Roman Bridge station, in July, 1982, is a truly beautiful photo’, showing the outstanding setting that the station was in. With warmest regards, Rob.
  13. Good evening, everyone. This evening, thanks to John Law, knoxrj, Philip Wheldale, all on Flickr, we have four more photo’s to enjoy. The first one is a view of H&BR, 0-6-0, number 37, on Springhead shed. This is undated. The second photo’ is at South Cave station, on the H&BR, with an unidentified 0-6-0, which appears to be number 118, if I have read the number on the bufferbeam correctly. Again, no date is given. Third, we have a photo’ of D49/3, 335, Bedfordshire, with oscillating cam operated Lentz poppet valves, rather than the rotary cam valves of the /2 Hunts. It is seen at the Bessingby bridge, Bridlington, on Sunday the 11th September, 1932. Finally, here’s a photo’ of 47623, departing Hull, on train, 1A24, the 15.15 Hull to Kings Cross, on the 18th June, 1989. Best regards, Rob.
  14. Good evening, David. That’s a fascinating selection of photo’s from Scotland. The first photo’ near Rannoch viaduct, with 37259 and 37121, on the Newcastle to Fort William special train, on the 11th May, 1985, being a superb view, from the train, of the Scottish scenery. The black and white photo’s from the 1950’s at Nottingham Victoria, are a superb set. Each one is a gem. The first photo’ of K2, 61777, with a parcels van, in August, 1954, is a most excellent portrait shot the locomotive. The last photo’ of V2, 60831, running light engine, and B1, and you, in c1954, is a beautiful composition, and I see you have a publication of something in your hand. I wonder what it was. The first photo’ shows K3 2-6-0, 61884, as it runs tender first at Brough, in about December, 1961. Next we have a photo’ of Ivatt Class 4mt, 2-6-0, 43076, on the curve from Walton Street, on the 22nd September, 1964, with what may well be a football special. The third photo’ is a view of 37219, at England Springs, Beverley, on train, 6C52, the 12.45 Seamer to Doncaster Decoy, on the 20th February, 2015. Finally, here’s a photo’ of another special train. This one is train, 2Z02, the 08.57, York to York, on the 14th May, 2014, with 37425, passing Ideal Standard, on the Bridlington branch. Best regards, Rob.
  16. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway with one at Rolvenden on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. C4850, at Sittingbourne, with Bagnall, Triumph, in October, 1979, is a superb photo’ of the engine. The photo’s of Pilmoor, in 1967 and 1975, are a fascinating set. J4542, of a two car Class 101, on a Darlington to York service, in August, 1975, is an excellent photo’ of an ordinary train. The two photo’s of the same train, by yourself and your Dad, a down express passenger train, again in August, 1975, are both superb. The first photo’ shows a five car DMU at Scarborough station, departing for Hull, on the 20th March, 1976. The second photo’ is at Pocklington, West Green crossing, with the box prominent, and two two car class 105’s departing for Hull, on Whit weekend, 1962. Next we have a photo’ of class G5, 1691, at Hull Paragon station, in the 1930’s. There is no other information. Finally, here’s a photo’ at Seamer West Junction, of preserved V2, 4771, on The Scarborough Spa Express, on the 27th July, 1986. Best regards, Rob.

C10060, of De4/4, 1663, on a Beinwil am See to Beromünster service, on the 3rd August, 1988, is a superb three quarter shot of the locomotive and train. The photo’s from Cumbria, at Dalston, Sellafield and Troutbeck, are fascinating. J6605, at Sellafield, with a Class 40, on a down freight train, in August, 1979, is a most atmospheric photo’ by your Dad. With warmest regards, Rob.
  19. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Mick, for the signalling diagram of Keyingham, and the fascinating photo’ of the flooding at Willerby, H&BRly, c1910. Now, we are having four photo’s this evening, courtesy of John Law, on Flickr. The first one is a view of 777, Sir Lamiel, at Beverley station in c1982, on a special train to Scarborough. Note the trackwork in the foreground. Next we have a photo’ of Botanic Gardens station, Hull, from prior to the Great War. I am sure Mick will be able to give more information about the photo’. The third photo’ shows class 37, 6782, in green, next to Scarborough station signalbox, in c1971. No information about the working of the train is given. Finally, here’s a photo’ of Seamer, in c1972, with an unidentified class 47, running light engine, up, to possibly York. Best regards, Rob.
  20. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of Hillmorton. The first photo’ of Class 85, E3095, on the 10.15 Euston to Birmingham and Manchester, in March, 1967, is a superbly composed shot which captures the locomotive still in electric blue, with a fairly typical formation of carriages. That’s a fascinating mixed bag of photo’s. The last one at Southam Road and Harbury GWR, with a Class 25, on an up freight train, in April, 1971, is an excellent photo’, and just look at the state of the yellow cab end. This evening we have three photo’s by John Turner, on Flickr, of Keyingham, in August, 1964, on the Withernsea line, and one by Andy Hughes, also on Flickr, of Crabley Creek. So, the first one is a view of a Craven's 2-car (later Class 105) DMU, as it approaches Keyingham with a Withernsea to Hull local service. The next photo’ is a shot of the signal box and Station Road level crossing at the western end of Keyingham station. The third photo’ shows a general view of Keyingham station, looking east. Finally, we have a photo’ of 20305, passing Crabley Creek at the head of train 3S14, the 11:40 Sheffield to Hull, RHTT, on the 13th November, 2018. Best regards, Rob.
  22. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s from East Yorkshire, and West Stockwith on the River Trent between Gainsborough and Keadby. The last photo’ at West Stockwith MSLR, of the Stockwith basin, in January, 1963, is a truly superb photo’ and shows the basin frozen, with snow and ice, in the freezing winter of 1963. The photo’s of the railway beyond the High Dyke branch from the short stretch of BR track on the line fromn Saxby Junction to Bourne, are a superb selection. J3165, at Buckminster sidings, with Bass Carrington No5 and Peckett, 1158, on an empty ballast train from Market Overton to Stainby, in April, 1973, is a splendid photo’ by your Dad.   23. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Mick, for that superb photo’ of H&BRly Class A, No120, at North Cave, in c1910. What a view, and both the engine and railway are long gone. This evening we have four more photo’s courtesy of John Turner, 54A Photography, and Simon Beeston, all on Flickr. The first photo’ shows Gresley LNER A3 4-6-2 60085 "Manna". It was withdrawn from Gateshead (52A) depot on 12th October, 1964. It awaits the cutter's torch at Draper's scrapyard at Sculcoates, Hull, in c1964. The second one is a view of Robinson Class B7 4-6-0, 5458, as it is turned at Scarborough Shed on the 28th June, 1939. The third photo’ is of 37330 and 37218, at Hull Paragon station, in the snow, on the 29th December, 1995. Finally, we have a photo’ of Beverley, on the 28th December, 2002, with Deltic,D9009, in green, on special train, 1Z51, the 1151 York to Scarborough via Hull. Best regards, Rob.
  24. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s from between Darlington and Eastgate. That’s a superb photo’ of Stanhope, with the Class 101 unit, on the North Briton railtour, on the 23rd May, 1987, in C8505. You have composed the photo’ perfectly with the footbridge framing the train excellently. The preservation miscellany with photo’s from Carnforth, Hereford and Parkend, are truly remarkable. C2757, at Carnforth, with 6990, Raveningham Hall, on the 5th June, 1976, being a delightful photo’ of the engine as it is being worked on. With warmest regards, Rob.
  25. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Mick, for the signalling diagram of Cottingham Junction. It is most informative. Now, this evening we have four more photo’s courtesy of Andy Hughes, Simon Beeston, knoxrj, and John Turner, all on Flickr. The first one is a photo’ of WD "Austerity" 2-8-0, 90450, as it waits for the road whilst departing Salt End/King George Dock with its train of Shell/Bp tank wagons, whilst classmate, 90009, heads in the opposite direction with a load of BR 16T mineral wagons, in c1967. Next here’s a photo’ of class C12, 4517, on a Brough local at Hessle, in probably the late 1930’s. The third photo’ is of Broomfleet, on the 15th February, 2019, with track machine DR77801, on working 6J34, the 12.15 from Holbeck Loco Sidings to Hull Station Sidings. Finally, we have a photo’ of the only time a class 33 has worked into Hull. It sees 33103, SWORDFISH, approach Southcoates Lane with train, 2Z01, from Hull Hedon Road Sidings to Immingham, on the 13th October, 2006. Best regards, Rob.
