  1. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of preserved steam from the Midland Railway at Butterley, Severn Valley and Kent and East Sussex. C2683, at Hampton Loade, with Ivatt Class 4, 43106, on a Bewdley to Bridgnorth service, in April, 1976, is an excellent photo’, and shows the rear of the tender which is useful for modellers. The photo’s of the WCML and parts of Scotland, are a superb selection. J3963, at Tayport., of the Tayport loop trackbed, in August, 1974, is a most atmospheric photo’, especially with the misty weather too. With warmest regards, Rob.
  2. Good evening, everyone. This evening we have four more photo’s, with two again being of trains in connection with the relaying work between Driffield and Bridlington. They are courtesy of Richard Stewart, Charlie Verrall, and knoxrj, all on Flickr. The first one is a portrait shot of class G5, 67349, at Malton, on the 20th September, 1952. Next we have a photo’ of Middleton on the Wolds, between Market Weighton, and Driffield. There is a class D22 to be seen. Please excuse the writing on what otherwise a great photo’ of the station. I have no idea what ER is. The third photo’ is of 66569, which marks the last of the initial six engineers trains in the 9-day blockade for track renewal between Driffield & Bridlington, departing Driffield on tra, 6Y35, engineers to Doncaster Belmont, on Sunday the 4th February, 2025. Finally, a photo’ from the same vantage point, of 66413, as it powers away from Driffield on train, 6Y33, engineers to Doncaster Belmont, also on the 4th February, 2024. Best regards, Rob.
  3. Good evening, David. That’s a great mixed bag of photo’s of Edinburgh, Chedworth, Wyforby, Wilford and Skillington Junction crossing. J3031, at Wyfordby, with two Class 20’s on an up empty limestone train, in August, 1972. It is a most imposing and well composed shot. The miscellany of photo’s around Essex and one odd man out, are superb. C5362, at Colchester, with 312782 on a down passenger train to Walton and Clacton, in May, 1981, being an excellent photo’ of the electric unit. With warmest regards, Rob.
  4. Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Steve, for your kind comment, and you are right about the J39’s. I too would love to see Bachmann upgrade their model. Now, this evening we have four more photo’s, courtesy of chris_veasey, knoxrj, Andy Hughes, and Paul Smith, all on Flickr. Two of them are of the present day with the relaying work, between Nafferton and Burton Agnes, on the down line, plus the turnout replacement at Bridlington all in mind. The first one shows H&BR class J, 38, at Springhead, getting coaled, on an unknown date. Secondly, we have a photo’ of H&BR, 117. They went on to become LNER class Q10. The location is unknown along with the date, but I have decided to include the photo’ since the locomotive worked in Hull and East Yorkshire. Now, this third photo’ is a record of present day railway, as mentioned. It is of 66528, as it rejoins the mainline at Anlaby Road Junction, Hull, with the 11.10 Driffield to Doncaster Decoy engineering train, on Saturday, the 3rd February, 2024. And this last photo’ shows a unique locomotive, for the area, of a class 70, making the second visit of a Freightliner Class 70 to the Wolds Coast Line. 70017 returns from Scarborough as it passes Cottingham working train, 0D88, the 07:26 Leeds Balm Road Loco to Leeds Balm Road Loco. 70002 worked the diagram the previous day.   5. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic preserved railway miscellany at Carnforth, Bala Lake and the Severn Valley. The last photo’ at Bridgnorth, with LMS Ivatt Class 2MT, 46521, on a passenger train from Bridgnorth to Bewdley, in October, 1976, is a superb photo’, full of atmosphere. The photo’s from Northumberland and County Durham are all gems and the photo’ of Tornado at Damdykes, Cramlington, on the 24th April, 2010, working an up charter train, is an excellent photo’, and it’s great that we have an A1 in existence albeit a new build, not an original.   6. Good evening, everyone. This evening, we have four more photo’s to enjoy seeing, thanks to knoxrj, and John Turner, both on Flickr. The first one is a photo’ of a rebuilt Classicfootballshirts B16, 61444, in store at Hull dairycoates, along with another, in June, 1963. The second photo’ shows class J39, 1487, as it backs out of Hull Paragon station in the 1930’s. Next we have a photo’ of another class J39, this time 2973, at Hessle, again in the 1930’s. Finally, here’s a photo’ of Load Haul, 56039, shortly after being named “ABP Port of Hull” at King George Dock, Hull, on the 19th July, 1994. Best regards, Rob.
  7. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic and atmospheric set of photo’s of Switzerland, near Steinerberg, on the 10th August, 1988. C10625, of SOB, BDe4/4, on an Arth Goldau to Einsiedeln service, you have taken a beautiful photo’, with the house perfectly positioned in the middle of the view. The photo’s of the Leeds to Harrogate line and four around Radcliffe on Trent, are a superb selection. J6693, at Rectory Junction, Radcliffe on Trent viaduct, with 25230, on a pway crane, in December, 1979, is a fascinating view, and it’s interesting to see the central span of the viaduct being worked on. The first one shows class Q6, 2251, on an empty goods train, near Hessle, in March, 1938. Apologies for the faded look of this photo’. The second photo’ is a view of a class 101 unit at Filey, in the summer of 1987. The destination blind is wrongly reading Hull, when it should read Scarborough. Thirdly, we have a photo’ of class D17/2, 1922, at Scarborough, in the 1930’s, on a light engine movement. Finally, here’s a photo’ of 37667, as it passes Hessle on its second day of route learning working as train, 0Z37, the 10:12 Doncaster West Yard to Hull, on the 15th September, 2020.   9. Good evening, David. Sorry to be late, but I have not been so well today. That’s a great selection of photo’s of York. C4412, of a Class 40, on a special train from York to Chester, on Saturday, 7th April, 1979, is a splendid photo’ of the 40. The mixed bag of photo’s are a delightful set. J414, at Arthington, with Class 47, D1543, on the White Rose, from Kings Cross to Harrogate, in November, 1965, is a superb shot in the November sunlight. With warmest regards, Rob.
  10. Good evening, everyone. This evening we have another four photo’s to enjoy seeing. They are courtesy of knoxrj, and West Halton Sidings, both on Flickr. The first photo’ is a view of class C1, 3277, on the Hull portion of the Yorkshire Pullman, at Hessle, in c1935. The second photo’ shows an NER 0-6-0T, at Hull Alexandra Dock shed. Not sure but the number may be 3116. Thirdly we have a photo’ of an unidentified class N13 at Ferriby, what seems to be in the 1930’s. Lastly, we have a photo’ of 57313, as it leads the train 1Z20, the 07.04 Hull to Winchester excursion through Hessle railway station. 57601 is on the rear of the train. The last photo’ at Birmingham International, with 87028, on a Euston to Inverness express, The Clansman, in October, 1980, is expertly composed with the 87 nicely between the lampposts. The black and white photo’s of Nottingham London Road Junction are a superb set. JVol7015, of 2P, 40395, running light engine, in April, 1954, is a truly fantastic three quarter shot of the locomotive. With warmest regards, Rob.

The first one is a view of H&BR, 0-6-0, number 86, on Springhead shed, on an unknown date, but before the Grouping. The second photo’ shows class J21, 1590, at Brough, in October, 1938. Next we have a photo’ of class Q10, 2510, according to the caption at Springhead shed, on an unknown date. Finally, we have a photo’ of 47853, Rail Express, as it passes Welton crossing at the head of train, 6Z67, the 12:50 Doncaster Up Decoy to Hull Hessle Road Junction, on the 7th April, 2013.   13. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of four photo’s on the London Tilbury and Southend and one in Devon, at near Kipling Tors. The first photo’ at Laindon, with 302265, leading a Shoeburyness to Fenchurch St. service, in May, 1979, being an excellently composed shot of the train going about it’s everyday work. The four photo’s from the Newcastle to Carlisle line and one which is near London, are a superb selection. C3503, at Bardon Mill, with a Class 101, on a Newcastle to Carlisle service, in August, 1977, being a splendid photo’ of a train in the landscape. With warmest regards, Rob.

The first photo’ is a view of class C12, 4542, on a local train from Hull to Brough, leaving Ferriby, in the 1930’s. Next we have a photo’ of class A8, 69885, seen departing from Scarborough, on the 6th December, 1954. The service details are not known. The third photo’ shows class A7, 69771, stood supplying steam at Brough pumping station, on the 9th May, 1953. Finally, we have photo’ of 37402, as it stands at Filey, on a York Parcel sidings to York Parcel sidings via Scarborough and Hessle East, light engine working, on the 21st July, 2021.   15. Good evening, David. That’s a great mixed bag of photo’s on Midland lines. C3898, at Awsworth, with a Class 20 on an up light engine movement, with the GNR viaduct behind, in June, 1978, being a most excellent composition. The viaduct makes a fascinating backdrop to the class 20. The photo’s of Carlisle are a superb selection, and the last photo’ of 47482, on the 12th April, 1988, is a splendid portrait shot of the locomotive at rest. With warmest regards, Rob.

The first one is a portrait of H&BR 2-4-0, 38, at Springhead shed. No exact date is given. The second photo’ is a shot of class B13, 757, at Bridlington, in c1930. Next we have a photo’ of class B14, no number visible, on Bridlington shed, in what is possibly the late 1920’s. A B16/1 can also be seen. Finally, here is a photo’ of 60035, as it passes Welton crossing at the head of train, 6D94, from Rotherham ST to Hedon Road Sidings, Hull, on the 20th December, 2013. Best regards, Rob.
  17. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic mixed bag of photo’s, with four in North Wales - two LNWR and two Cambrian Railway - and two others. C7486, of Holywell Junction signalbox, on the 19th April, 1986, is a superb photo’ of the box. The Woodhead route photo’s are a great selection. C3268, at Torside, with two Class 76’s on a westbound coal train, in April, 1977, being a splendid photo’ of a typical coal train in later years. With warmest regards, Rob.

The first one is another view of class X2, 957, at Springhead, in c1925. The second photo’ shows class D20, 2102, at North Cave, in 1931.   19. Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Radcliffe on Trent, and the remains of Bingham Road station on the GN and LNWR Joint line to Melton Mowbray and beyond. The first photo’ at Radcliffe on Trent, of the River Trent bridge, newly rebuilt, in April, 1980, looks superb, and it was clearly looking as good as new. The black and white photo’s of Lenton North Junction in Nottinghamshire, from c1948, 1950 and 1952, are a splendid selection. JVol2242, of 3F, 3711, on an up parcels train, in c1948, is a superb shot of the short train being hauled tender first. With warmest regards, Rob.

The first photo’ is of Sandholme, in what are H&BR days. This photo’ is additionally credited to Mick Nicholson, who we know well. Now, the second photo’ is a view of 0-6-0, 3138, at what is described as Springhead shed, in about 1924. The third photo’ shows class Y8, 563, in Springhead shed, in 1933. Finally, here’s a photo’ of DRS's 37401 'Mary Queen of Scots' rolling into a dull Driffield, on the 24th November, 2021, with train, 3J51, and 37419 is at the rear. Best regards, Rob.
  21. Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s of three on the Blyth and Tyne, with two other random photo’s. C21064, at Freemans Crossing, of 56117 & 37175, on an Alumina train to Lynemouth, 25th July, 1996, is an excellent shot, in the Summer sun. The four photo’s on the ECML, between Newark and Peterborough, with one on the Spalding to Peterborough line, are a fantastic selection. J1422, at Barkston, with Class 47, D1900, on an up train of iron ore empties, in September, 1968, being a well composed photo’, and shows how such iron ore trains were back at the end of the 1960’s.   22. Good evening, everyone. This evening, we have another four photo’s to see courtesy of knoxrj, and West Halton Sidings, both on Flickr. The first photo’ is one of class B15, 815, near Hessle, on what might be an excursion train. Next we have a photo’ of class J25, 65693, on a pick up freight train, at Willerby, looking west, in July, 1960. The third photo’ shows Sentinel shunter, class Y3, 117, at what is stated to be Springhead. No date is given, but will be the 1930’s. The final photo’ is a view of the UK Railtours GBRf Class 56 Farewell Tour from Wembley to Hull and back, turning using the Docks branch - running via the Cottingham branch, Walton Street Junction, Springbank North and South Junctions and rejoining the mainline at Hessle Road. 56081 lead the train in and out of Hull with 56098 on the rear. It came in on 1Z58 and technically terminated at Springbank South and 1Z59 began at Springbank South. In reality it never actually stopped! The date was the 14th January, 2023. Best regards, Rob.

C14625, of SNCB, AM62, 185, is a particularly excellent composition of both the train and the station buildings. The WCML photo’s from Hillmorton., are an excellent selection. I must remember to double check the caption details each time, those supplied are not always right. Now, this evening, we have four more photo’s to enjoy. They are courtesy of knoxrj, and West Halton Sidings, both on Flickr. The first one is a view of class C7, 2198, at Hull, in 1936, running light engine. Next we have a photo’ of class B16/1, 933, near Hessle, on a freight train, in c1934. The third photo’ shows ex-NER class D19, 1619, at at Botanic Gardens, in c1925. The locomotive is still in NER lined green livery, and what a splendid sight it is. Finally, we have a photo’ of 50007/50034, at Beverley Station, on a UK Railtours special, by GB Railfreight traction with a DB Cargo crew. The date was the 22nd December, 2022. Best regards, Rob.
  25. Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s from Beamish in September, 2011, on 3 separate pieces of railway at Rowley station, The Pit Village and Pockerley waggonway. I’m not quite sure which was posted recently, but all the photo’s most interesting and enjoyable. The last photo’ at Beamish, Pockerley Waggonway, on the 2nd September, 2011, of the Locomotion replica, is a most excellent composition, with an intriguing selection of rolling stock being hauled by the locomotive. The photo’s of the lines to Harrogate are a fascinating set. The last photo’ is an excellent view at Collingham, Yorks, with a pw tamper, after closure, in September, 1965, and I wonder if it was being tested with the line having been closed for some time.
