  1. A much better proposition compared to some variants of the latest Hornby Dublo GG releases. Enjoy!
  2. Maybe Union of SA was a Friday afternoon loco lol? 😊😊
  3. In contrast to the 2022 HD Sir Nigel Gresley, which arrived last year in perfect condition with no issues!
  4. The change to packaging could very well be the reason for the QC issues on the new HD releases. According to the two outlets who supplied me with R30263, this is the primary cause.
  5. Colin, I don't think the packaging is designed to accommodate brake rigging, which is the reason it's supplied as an accessory part.
  6. Unfortunately for Hornby, they now have smaller competitors, who produce affordable/high quality models. More importantly and in complete contrast to Hornby, these new boys on the block produce a catalogue of spares to support their products should anything go wrong.
  7. Personally, I'd return the model to Hornby as they may have spare PCB's in stock. Failing that, try Lendons or Peter's Spares. I'm on my second Union of South Africa, one has already been returned for defects/poor QC and the second will going back on Monday. Disappointing as you say for such an expensive model!
  8. Collectability aside, I'm thinking go with the main range A4 Golden Fleece, which as far as I'm aware doesn't have these defects!
  9. Hornby have marketed the HD Great Gathering A4's as a premium product, yet they've used flimsy/main range plastic fittings, untidily attached to a metal body. Last year I purchased Sir Nigel Gresley in BR Brunswick Green, a perfect model in every respect. Union of South Africa, an A4 I've been waiting for, is disappointing to say the least!
  10. Maybe Accurascale as in the case of the 66?
  11. According to the Hattons website, the exclusive range Barclays are now cancelled and won't be produced.
  12. Very sad that an modelling institution that is Hattons will be closing it's doors for good. A big thank you to all of the staff for their advice, help and excellent customer service over the years. I hope they find new jobs within the sector very quickly.
  13. Hornby QC strikes again or lack of it! Disappointing for you Dan. I wonder how many others are like this? Simply not acceptable on a premium £300 + model!
  14. Unlikely from Hornby I would say. Accurascale have already announced a J67/68 and 69 due in quarter 2 of this year!
  15. An HD version of Sir Nigel Gresley as currently preserved in wartime LNER black has got to be on the cards!
  16. Some bargain Accurascale Manors at £135 a shot in both BR and GW liveries on offer at Bure Valley models! https://www.burevalleymodels.com/p/20913/ACC2503-7808---Cookham-Manor-GWR-7800
  17. Can anyone please confirm whether these new HD A4's are 21 pin or the old 8 pin DCC compatible?
  18. Excellent news! The BR green versions do look stunning. Waiting for my pre-ordered Union of South Africa and Dwight D to appear in the NY. Enjoy!
  19. But can you seriously compare a design clever version with all it's compromises to a retooled HD model?
  20. 71000 Duke of Gloucester in full fat Hornby Dublo has got to be a serious contender at some stage?
  21. "We maintain extensive stock levels of all parts and can provide same on request even if models are out of warranty". Something another major player should take notice of. Well done all at Accurascale!
  22. *50% off newly tooled Bachmann Class 37's* https://modelrailwaysdirect.co.uk/Bachmann-branchline-35-306sfx-br-class-37/0-centre-headcode-co-co-d6829-br-green-small-yellow-panels-livery-dcc-sound-deluxe.html
