  1. Both 2023 locos are essentially the same product, save different names/numbers that were produced in 2022. The same metal running plate, upgraded wheelset etc!
  2. Yes, having looked at the costing on both releases, the 2023 locos are markedly cheaper than those from the 2022 range. TBH, Hornby do have a rather odd pricing strategy. Different loco names/numbers, same product I would guess
  3. These new releases in the form of the above locos are simply a relivery of the updated 2022 A1 Doncaster and the A3 from 2022. https://www.gaugemasterretail.com/magento/Hornby-r3990.html
  4. Sorry, but you can't possibly know that the HD FS range has the metal tyres fully painted out, as to date we've only seen pre production and photo generated/shopped pictures. The wheel sets have been confirmed by Hornby and others in the trade to be the upgrade as fitted to the 2022 Hornby A3.
  5. Info re the wheelset upgrade comes directly from Hornby customer services. They confirmed that all new model releases HD and standard range A4's will be released with the new wheelset. Take a look at the 2022 BR early crest A3 Flying Scotsman. I Wouldn't pay too much attention to the photo shopped/generated catalogue pictures.
  6. Take a look at various video recordings on YouTube of the sample of R3973 early BR green Sir Nigel Gresley. This was displayed on the Hornby stand at Warley. This clearly shows the same updated wheel set as fitted to last year's upgrade of the A3 The HD bodies are all "New" tooling and the plastic bodied are the same, albeit with the upgraded wheels. The samples you refer to are photo shopped/generated!
  7. All A4's since, R3522 (MY 2017) Miles Beevor and beyond have the DCC socket in the tender.
  8. The HD A4 versions are completely new body mouldings. Both the main range and HD models feature the updated wheel set as fitted to the 2022 version of the A3. The current plastic bodied A4 by all accounts is unchanged according to Hornby. HD versions are 8 pin DCC whilst the main range version is 21 pin.
  9. Agreed John, Personally, I did weaken with the HD early BR version of Sir Nigel Gresley. Looking at the Hornby stand and the updated chassis, I don't think people will be disappointed.
  10. As most of the the "Design Clever" era models have now been rerun/ updated, I would think an up to date version of 71000 Duke of Gloucester would be in order. Even better if this would feature as a Hornby Dublo version.
  11. Another TMC L/E Bachmann bargain:- https://www.themodelcentre.com/31-115k
  12. That is until another company decide to produce a BF, in which case they'd be with us in the shops before Summer!
  13. New tooling versions of the following:- BR Crosti 8F Rebuild, Stanier 8F, Rebuilt Merchant Navy, Airsmooth West Country and for HD, BR Standard Duke of Gloucester.
  14. £82.10 plus £4.45 postage, not the stratospheric sums they were going for recently. (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134352740146?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=KzmG7SgkRjq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=cpI7ZCISRXe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  15. What is nice to see of late, is that Hornby appear to have improved their livery rendition of BR Brunswick Green. Not before time, IMHO!
  16. Personally, I can't see this being a sellout as it's very much a niche model and a one off. I do however have the LMS version on pre-order, which I'm looking forward to.
  17. Fear not, the J26 and the breakdown cranes are listed on the Hornby website. The MK3's are to be incorporated into the main range according to my local model shop. As yet, no price increases for these items.
  18. Beware - This advert is Mc Canns models of Okehampton reincarnated via eBay. Lot's of people earlier on this year ordered on line and never received any of the goods they had purchased. The proprietor doesn't respond to emails or phone calls. You have been warned!
  19. Not 100% sure, but the boiler join without the rivets and top feed in the photo appear to be from the previous generation model. It may well be that Hornby have used this older production loco body as a livery sample.
  20. The HD Sir Gresley is looking good. Would the grey cast loco at the bottom of this picture be LMS Turbomotive by any chance?
  21. Did Hornby by any chance have the HD A4's Sir Nigel Gresley, Gannet or the M/N Lamport and Holt Line on display at Warley this weekend?
  22. Not ideal I grant you in the rod being a different colour, but at least they repaired it. I was told by Hornby repairs that very few spares are held in stock and that parts are cannibalised from broken/returned items. A touch of black permanent marker may do the trick for you!
  23. Personally speaking, I like the 1948 transition livery in both BR black and other variations such as SR malachite green. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be a great seller as evidenced by the K1, BR West Country Sir Archibald Sinclair and other model and the HD Merchant Navy Elder Fyffes Line.
  24. I doubt very much this is the metal bodied HD version of this loco for that price. It's either main range, TT or Hornby having advertised the wrong RRP!
  25. More like £240 less the 10% club discount I would have thought. The forthcoming City of London is priced at £241.99!
