  1. A real shame that Hornby appear to have cut corners on this one. Although I don't model the GE, I did plan to buy a late BR version, this however is too much of a compromise and doesn't look right. Perhaps they will do a second run with the correct driving wheels at a later stage ???
  2. I wonder whether Hornby will now take the opportunity of addressing the problem with the oversupply of certain models in the range, such as the K1 and the B17. As superb as these model are, they don't seem to sell that well following the initial release....
  3. Bachmann may produce them again in a more detailed format, the old model is outclassed compared to their other products. The question is however, how long would we have to wait for them to appear in the shops and at what price ? On current production delays, this could in effect be 3-4 yrs !
  4. I wouldn't be at all surprised, if the Bulleid stock make it into their 2017 range. It would make a lot of sense for Hornby to do this and would certainly complement their forthcoming Southern locos. Pre and post nationalization variants please. Fingers crossed on this one, sure to be good seller !
  5. With Hornby, it tends to be who manufacturers what and where. For example, the latest Britannia's produced over the last 12 months are superb. I'm really looking forward to seeing the forthcoming B12 and Merchant Navy, both of which look promising.
  6. I look forward to receiving mine from Derails. Excellent customer service from Little Dan as per the norm.
  7. The most sensible and logical solution. Let's hope Bachmann take this on board.
  8. To be honest, I don't model that period, but I actually bought the LBSCR E4 579 (Roehampton) because in my opinion, the livery application was stunning, it really accentuates the detail of that particular version, making it stand out from the BR lined and unlined models. I don't really see how you could comment that the LBSCR livery is dull! At the end of the day, each to their own and respect to the opinion of others. If everybody thought or liked the same things it would be a very boring world !
  9. What part of my posting "Bachmann club edition excepted" do you not understand ? The point I was trying to make was that the main range LBSCR E4, although a superb model is not a particularly good seller! You only have to browse online at stocklists to see that this is the case. The preserved model, Birch Grove was the L/E Club product which was a sellout as you correctly describe. Did I pick you up on the fact, that you incorrectly described the forthcoming Stanier 5MT Mogul as a Stanier Crab, despite no such locomotive ever being in existance (Ivatt 2MT posting)? No, I didn't. In future, please read what people write before trying to discredit what they have posted !
  10. Thank you for the update, I was contemplating replacing my operating Ratio LMS/BR signals for the forthcoming bracket units. In light of this I'll be giving these a wide berth !
  11. is getting the quantities made right - models of the preserved loco will sell, its the others which once those who want one for their LNW branch line have bought one may struggle. Not in the case of the LBSCR E4 they haven't, Bachmann Club edition excepted. There are so many on the market that this is the only version which is heavily discounted from RRP. Lovely model though and I suspect the Coal Tank will be the same !
  12. Phil, Some years ago, from recollection Bachmann planned to market D326. Due to an adverse reaction, they dropped this loco due to it's Great Train Robbery association. However you never know, it could be a future club model !
  13. Even the Railroad P2 now has turned metal front buffers, however the tender unit still has the same set up as before. I bought mine from Hattons last October for the bargain price of £54.00. Very pleased with it, runs nicely too !
  14. The bias towards Bachmann products on this website is breathtaking. Yes, they do some very nice models, however the 2MT upgrade, apart from the chassis is not one of them. People are enquiring how to upgrade this loco to an acceptable level of detail, is this really acceptable at this pricing, just because no other manufacturer has released a newer version ??? The comparison of the Hornby Black 5 was made because it was am older tooled model and not a direct like for like product.
  15. Hardly unfair, all down I'm afraid to personal preference. I'm somewhat subjective and particular when handing over my cash and yes there're models that Hornby produce that I won't buy. When you look at the pricing of the re-issued 2MT against let's say a Hornby main range Black 5 (dating from 2001/2) I know which I'd rather have.
  16. That's until you compare some of the Bachmann re-issues/releases with new models from Hornby !
  17. Stanier Crab ???? I think you will find that this is another Bachmann re-issue of an old model which in this case is the Hughes Crab. This has been the case with other recent releases, such as the Gresley K3 and 2MT, albeit with an improved chassis in the case of the latter. The only totally new Bachmann LMS loco is the forthcoming Stanier Mogul 5MT. All this has been confirmed by my local model shop.
  18. Again the Crab will be an old body, don't know whether it has an improved all new chassis. At this rate, the only Bachmann loco's I can see myself buying are the forthcoming Stanier Mogul 5MT. At least they will be totalling new tooling !
  19. David, I think 247 Developments market replacement bits and pieces for Bachmann models. I think from memory, that they do replacement chimneys for BR Standard class locomotives.
  20. Fantastic news and to be released early in 2017 to boot. When you compare this loco to some recent releases/re-issues from the "Blue Box Brigade", Hornby again prove that they are at the top of their game. Well done !
  21. Having seen SDJR7F88's video review of this model, this has reinforced my previous opinion/comments on this release. The chassis looks nice, however the body is woeful, this should only have ever been released as a totally new model. Just look at the smokebox door mouldings and oversize/ill fitting handrails. Poor value for money, I certainly won't be buying one !
  22. Can anyone please confirm whether the BR Maroon version has a different running number from the first release ? A friend of mine states that the model now has painted black end panels. Is this correct as my local dealer hasn't received his allocation as yet ?
  23. Disappointingly, the Mogul is now shown on the Bachmann website as listed for release in December/January. I suppose that an extra four/five months won't matter that much considering it was announced in 2012/2013 !
  24. Black 5 Bear

    Q6

Rob - The K1 and J15 still have a 3 pole motor fitted as standard. In respect of the Q6, this definitely has a 5 pole lump in it. Nice model though, pity I can't find an excuse to buy one even though I'm looking for one !
  25. I asked the very same question of Hornby last year. The answer I received was that the mouldings had been misplaced at SK. So who knows whether they will re-tool. This I suspect is very unlikely in the short to medium time, given their current problems.
