    Hornby K1

The K1 is a lovely model without doubt, however it is pot luck whether or not you get a good one or a lemon. Having purchased the latest late crest version, I can say that this is a major improvement minus the bent running plate and excess blue marks of the 2015 releases. Very pleased with mine.

    A3 Book Law

I keep telling the wife, the more you spend the more you save. Unfortunately when it comes to railway modeling, she never believes me.

    A3 Book Law

Kernow now have Book Law on for £99.99 !!!!!
  4. Personally, I think that Hornby missed a trick with the TTS Duke. Rather than repeat the preserved version, it might have sold better releasing the 1960's variant.
  5. Stanier Black 5 with Caprotti valve gear would be a very welcome addition to their range. A variation which has never been done before in RTR.
  6. Black 5 Bear

    Hornby K1

Both releases are featured on the Kernow website. Running plate seems pretty straight to me. Lovely model, one of Hornby's best....
  7. Hopefully Hornby will survive this downturn in their fortunes.Recent releases have been extremely well finished, though sometimes in need of better quality control. As commented on before, it's their customer service/warehousing that really needs sorting out.I don't blame the staff, they are usually helpful and pleasant to deal with but, I think they are small in number and somewhat pushed. The model railway scene would be an awful lot poorer if they ceased trading and went out of business.
  8. Is it really such a wild expectation to receive an item which is fit for purpose ???? I for one value others comments, before I commit and waste my hard earned cash.
  9. I don't model the GWR as a norm, but they are superb. Thank you Little Dan for the pics.....
  10. Bachmann branchline still lists the weathered version for release.
  11. I like many others on this site like the Hornby product, however it is not "Hornby bashing" to enquire exactly who this set is aimed at. The serious modeller wouldn't touch these with a barge pole and I can't envisage too many children being interested in a Downtown Abbey set, considering that programme is shown after 9pm. Maybe Hornby need to concentrate on what they do best, producing highly detailed models.....
  12. I wonder if the gloss finish is going to be the norm across most of the range. The picture of the soon to be released R3323, late BR 5MT tends to indicate this spec of finish/paintwork.It reminds me of a superior detailed Bassett-Lowke product.
  13. No number shown on that model, however TTS version is 92025 apparently. Both are E/C, not sure whether or not a smoke deflector is fitted. Hope this helps.
  14. Until they are gathering dust on the shelves of the likes of Rails, Hattons etc who regularly discount certain Heljan products by 50%. Maybe it will be different with their steam range, I somehow doubt it.
  15. An expensive Christmas indeed. Hornby at their finest !!!!!
  16. Just checked with my credit card company in relation to S75 cover. They state the amount placed on the card must be a minimum £100 and maximum £30,000 to qualify for cover under the above legislation. This is UK law and applies to all credit suppliers. They also advised in relation to PayPal payments to check the supplier and the company are one and the same and not some other third party individual. A good resume of this legislation is contained on moneysupermarket which may prove valuable at this time of year.
  17. PayPal by all accounts, which quite a few shops now use may or may not be covered by Section 75 as there is some legal question as to who is the named trader/company.
  18. What happens if the shop goes bust in the meantime whilst you are waiting for the item to come into stock??? I also doubt that you would have a valid Section 75 claim if paying by credit card. Some manufacturers as we know take an eternity from announcing a model to having it on general release...
  19. I second that Ian. Hornby are a dab hand at the finish on plain or lined black livery, however sadly lacking on the Brunswick green front. Maybe next year they will take this onboard.
  20. I had exactly the same e-mail, this was followed by another inviting me to purchase any of the four versions offered by Hornby. Confused or what ???
  21. A return to steam in 2016 is I suggest highly unlikely, given that the restoration process has overrun by a considerable time on all three projects. MHR engineering staff on site at the Autumn gala stated that it will be 2020, or nearer to that year before we see the Ropley S15's in operation, that is if they don't discover or encounter any more restoration problems.
  22. Unfortunately we will have to wait until 2020, before the two S15's currently under restoration on the Mid Hants line are back in steam. It's a bit like waiting for a Bachmann loco release !!!!!
  23. I spoke to staff on the Bachmann stand yesterday at the Peterborough show, they stated that the Mogul is now in the tooling stage and a grey preproduction sample will be released before the Christmas period this year. Apparently they will be on general release before the Warley show next year.
