  1. Put it on your Household cover. Mine is on all risks, with photos . john
  2. Dont agree about using Morley hand held. I find them in valuable. You can buy extentions for them. I have layout round the outside of room, some 40 feet, and can walk round with the trains, as necessary. Guagemaster, also do hand held. john
  3. Look at Morley, as well, as they come with Handhelds, as well. Very useful for walking around layout. john
  4. i have 10 Duettes and clippers. Built like tanks to last for ever. Never known one fail. john
  5. Hornby HM 2000, is worth a look. many on ebay. For older locos that need more power, Hamment and Morgan, Duette, or clipper, another good choice. john
  6. I dampen wood, then support it either side, while it dries. Results are varied, by works more times than not. john
  7. i would rather we saw more loco bargains.
  8. My compromise was to only build a 9x5 layout. john
  9. I only use screws, tiny ones, as with frequent layout alterations, glue, etc, would not be sensible. john
  10. Singer sewing machine oil. applied with needle. If you can see the oil, you have put on too much. john. No Grease
  11. Crosland, Hi, could you elaborate, as i am also doing bits for my lad. What would i need. thanks. john
  12. Suzie, , perfect, will look at, when i am allowed to stop decorating. john
  13. Thanks guys, all sounds a lot harder than Railmaster, which is a doddle for setting up points. Have to go a different route as RM, does my DCC layout in 00. Have a newly acquired N gauge with 15 points, and simply want to operate them with a sprog. That will leave me free to presently run Locos on DC. Far too fiddly for me to put decoders in my N gauge locos. john
  14. The beauty of forums are , that if you see a thread you dont like, dont read it. Many here were disappointed by not getting their bargain, and felt the need to report that. . john
  15. Suzie, thanks. Know nothing about JMRI, apart from downloading it. Is it fairly simple to do. thanks. john
  16. hi, is this feasible and simple to set up. thanks. john
  17. My lady wife has just returned home, with a Sprog 2, and a Sprog 3, she bought at a secondhand shop for £45. I know nothing about them. Does anyone use them. Keen to try them out. john
  18. My railway room, is vast, some 24x20. In france you can buy these storage type heaters that heat up the internal brick/type things, which release heat over several hours. Also able to set to frost control. They are not expensive to run, and release heat all day. Gamme vert, is the system. Floor is felted and carpeted. Temp never drops below 5 degrees. Walls and ceiling are pine clad, with 6 inch fibre glass rolls between cladding and wall.. john
  19. Hi, loco looks like that but motor is thin square of plastic, which locates on top of chassis, and cut out locates over the driving cog. Bachmann, have had no motors for these, for a long time. Thats the problem, it has to be the right motor. thanks. john
  20. hi, motor is one of those square type clear plastic ones, that locates at the bottom. loco is HO. Bachmann have none. Any ideas, welcome. john
  21. Trip, marklin AC track, is not a problem. Its normal 2 rail track, with studding laid down the middle, for a train pick up. which makes it in effect, 3 rail. Similar system to Hornby Dublo. You can buy the studding, or, like me, you can simply lay a third rail down the middle, using old flexi track. Hence you could rig up an oblong of track for your lad.. john
  22. I have had 6 railway layouts in lofts, without any probs. Council, either want new joists, the other way, fixed to walls , or new ones screwed/ glued to existing, wall supported.. Thats it. Aluminium loft ladder. I have never been inspected, just photographed my joists. Brighton, southampton, weymouth, kidderminster, stranraer. For occasional, hobby use, must be cheaper than shed, and all that goes with it. john
  23. quite surprised by lack of replies to this post. I had imagined, obviously, wrongly, that others would own MTH locos. There is quite a following for them, here in france. john
