  2. Hi Andy Looking back on my records on April 20th 1974 3B10 was worked by D1064 3B10 was 1100hrs Ply-Pzance parcels not Padd as i stated. Also headboard clips missing D1025/26/27/29/40/46/49 had them missing. Looking again at 3B10 the loco has had it's number painted i have a photo of D1025 at Newton Abbott shed with it's number painted like this no headboard clips and taken in May 74. I shall have a look back at some of my 1973 records to see what i can find. Cheers GARETH
  3. Hi Andy With these 2 still trying to decide on the first one but the second one I think is D1013 as well the only thing that's throwing it out is the head code 1A67 was 1725 hrs Cardiff - Padd 1B15 was 1030 hrs Padd-Pzance Cheers Gareth
  4. Hi Andy The problem with no headboard clips is D1046 had them missing as well. 3B10 Padd-Penzance working Still not sure on the first photo but the second photo could be D1055 as it worked this train on the 3rd April 74 1100 hrs Penzance ~ Padd If you look it has a depot sticker behind the door I have a photo of D1055 at OOC which matches this. Cheers Gareth

  20. Hi Steve Here's some additional info i've had about the Bridgend derailment from someone who was there 35/37/47/52 did work these trains but no numbers Iinitially trains diverted via Aberdare but route was blocked in the afternoon/evening. Trains were then diverted via Treherbert and Cefn Jct. The first was 2000 Padd Fishguard followed by discharged tanks from Provan Durning the night Milk empties,Carmarthen vans and Sleeper,Bristol mail and a parcels train passed westwards. Eastward trains were Carmarthen sleeper and 2nd Whitland milk Saturday morning saw the Fishgaurd boat train and oil train pass eastwards with tanks westwards. All eastbound trains were assisted by class 37 locos from Margam Moors to Blaengwynfi or Treherbert using Tondu locos and crews with the bridge restriction at Natyffyllon removed. On saturday afternoon a track defect was reported between Blaengwynfi and Cymmer so the line was closed and the passenger trains from Bridgend to Treherbert. 1340 Whitland milk reached Tondu but was sent back. The plan to clear coal on Sunday failed because the main line was not reopened but the Aberdare route had. The main line reopened on Monday morning but the Vale lines were still blocked An emergency connection was installed to the down main on Weds 22nd. The Cymmer to Blaengwynfi section reopened on Mon 20th. All blocklogs of traffic in the Tondu area were moved by 28th Dec. Hope this helps
  21. Hi Brian Yes the morning parcels to Pontypridd could turn up with anything 25/31/35/37 all finished about 1977. The evening parcels to Pontypridd was a L/E off Radyr worked by Radyr men up to Ponty pick up and bring the vans down for Cardiff. Then the night Parcels was L/E off Radyr to Cardiff work the vans to Ponty back to Cardiff L/E pick up the vans for Ponty and Merthyr. About 1977 they introduced the DMU as a Parcels for Merthyr then it would work the first passenger down in the morning this was so they could close the traincrew depot at Merthyr and stop leaving the DMU at Merthyr over night. Cheers GARETH
  22. At Merthyr you had a Parcels depot at Plymouth road which use to have the banana vans.
  23. Hi Yes the Teds were used on Cardiff to Merthyr Parcels by night worked by Radyr men, a few of the hands i worked with at Radyr use to tell me that they always stopped at Black Lion box to allow the engine to cool down.Teds also worked coal trains to Merthyr as well.here's 48 in Merthyr coal yard 66 Also Teds were outstabled at Treherbert sometimes. Cheers GARETH
