  1. On a PC with Adobe Reader you should have a toolbar along the top. If you cannot see it try pressing F8. There is normally a couple of buttons to rotate the view. If you cannot see them, right click the toolbar, select Rotate View and select the rotate buttons. If yoy feel you need something stronger than rawlplugs and screws search for rawlbolts or sleeve anchors, perhaps on the Screwfix site Brian
  2. A variation can be applied to the normal rules of intestacy as well as to a will. As long as all the beneficiaries (in my case just me) of an estate agree, who inherits what can be altered. The variation has to be in writing (deed ?) and made within 2 years of the person's death and follow certain rules. https://www.gov.uk/alter-a-will-after-a-death As I wrote previously if I simply give the money to my children it would be treated as a gift. If I then died in the next 7 years that gift or a part of it would still be considered part of my estate and subject to inheritance tax. By making a variation I am saying I don't want the inheritance and pass it straight to my children. It never becomes part of my estate. Brian

  4. A Deed of Variation allows me to give some of the estate directly to my children. It does not become part of my estate and therefore is not subject to inheritance tax when I die. If I inherit it and then give it to my children I will have to live for at least 7 years to avoid the inheritance tax. Brian
  5. A will does not have to be made in the presence of a public official. Anyone can write their own will and have it witnessed by a couple of friends or neighbours as long as they are not beneficiaries. Obviously you need to be careful how it is worded to avoid misinterpretations and if you don't feel up to it or it is complicated then use professional advice. Currently sorting probate for my late brother who didn't make a will meaning I became his sole heir. I intend making a Deed of Variation to give some of his estate to my children, but I can find no information if that needs to be witnessed. Brian
  6. Your Ge 6/6 II is as Bemo originally produced it and is correct for the period up to the late 1990's when the RhB updated the Ge 6/6 II and Ge 4/4 I to single arm pantographs. Bemo subsequently updated the models. Brian

  11. I've always used lighter fluid (refined petroleum spirit) for this sort of thing. Test first on a unseen area of paint. Put some on a tissue or cotton bud and dab the affected area, don't rub. Don't get the surface too wet, better to have two or three goes leaving time for the lighter fluid to evaporate between applications. Brian

  16. Not sure from the wording of your question whether you want dimensions for the prototype or a model. I do have a cutaway drawing of the prototype which gives a few dimensions which are :- Wheelbase 1750mm + 1325mm (jackshaft) + 1325mm. Length over buffers 10500mm. The wheelbases appears to be central within the length, ie 3050mm overhang each end. Brian
  17. VAT rates in European countries are about the same as the UK (Germany 19%, Austria and France 20%) so make little difference to the prices. No import duties into the UK from EU countries. Many European manufacturers still like to have a single agent for the UK, ie Gaugemaster for Roco and Fleischmann so you have to figure in their cut, even though they may only handle some "paperwork", the goods going straight from the manufacturer to the shop. Hornby used to employ an agent for Rivarossi, Lima etc which seemed to bump up the price in the UK by at least 25% Brian
  18. The only problem is the wording implies it's tied up with promotions, offers and events. So if you unsubscribe you won't get offers like final value fees of 1p, like my last offer was.   19. To me , it looks as if the input is the two yellow wires which are soldered on to the top left of the board in the 2nd photo. I would then suggest there are 4 diodes, 2 lying horizontal and 2 vertical. The 2 horizontal ones are linked to the track that runs along the top and down the righthand side with the orange wire linking it to the collector of the transistor, so that will be the +v rail. The vertical diodes are linked and their track goes down the lefthand side and across the bottom and connect onto the direction switch, so this will be the 0v rail. So, input would be the normal 12-16 Volts AC.   22. I think the clue is in the word "latex" in the OP. Substitute Copydex or similar carpet adhesive as used by myself and many others for laying track and in diluted form for ballasting. Brian
  23. I think that was me. I do have some hand drawn sketches of the circuits for a standard Mk I, a centre off version and the Rambler Minor. I'll try and scan the drawings later today, not sure how well they will come out. Also not sure if I would be breaking any copyright if I put them on here, but I can always email them. I don't think there is much to do to uprate to 3 Amps. The input diodes are 1N4002, so will need to go to 1N5401 or 2. The output transistor is a "plastic" TIP3055, so should handle the current, which then leaves the current sense resistor 1R0 to be changed to a lower value. Brian
  24. Is the drive arrangement simply a motor with a worm on it, driving a worm wheel on one of the axles ? If so, would not the greatest force be when the loco is unpowered and being pushed along the track. The force on the motor would be that required to push the loco (weight x coefficient of friction) times the ratio of driving wheel diameter to the worm wheel diameter. Brian
