  1. Actually it was David Tennant and Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones) Brian
  2. When the Ade coaches were first released they came with the wrong bogies. They supplied them with the standard Minden Deutz bogies as used for 160 km/h speeds when they were actually fitted with the "Leicht" version restricting their speed to 120 km/h. The Minden Deutz Leicht were the same as used initially on the AB4yge umbau coaches and other xx4yge coaches later. I fitted Roco ones to mine. Brian
  3. If this loco was made in the Far East then the screw head may not have a Philips recess and even less likely to be a Pozidrive. The Japanese have their own cross point design and the depth is less than you would find on a Philips. You can use a Philips screwdriver but you need to grind the point off a little. Brian

  6. My first N gauge layout was on a board about 7' by 15". Softwood frame of 3" x 1" with a chipboard top. I was in my 20's then and moving it was not really a problem. Used to store it on end and the only thing I had to watch was not damaging the ceiling when I lifted it up. Brian
  7. Hi Ross, welcome to the forum. I notice you've also got this project going in the Layout Topics section which is perhaps the better section. Might be best to transfer the discussion there, maybe a Mod can help do this. Brian
  8. In this situation the first thing to do is contact the seller. Has he dispatched the item, if so when and by what means (airmail or slow boat). I don't know the rules governing international transactions, but here in the UK the seller has only completed the contract when the buyer has received the item. The seller can't blame the post, courier or whoever, that's up to the seller to sort out. Brian
  9. This is a parcel to leave on your doorstep https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-46604625 Brian
  10. Is there a mix up in units here. The terminals have a cross section of 0.080" by 0.030" or approximately 2.03 mm by 0.76 mm. So how will a 0.76 mm dia round socket fit on ? Brian
  11. Electrical components can deteriorate over the years, but it will mainly be switches or potentiometers where the contacts can get an oxide coating or just plain grime. Electrolytic capacitors can also dry out and fail. Brian
  12. As the OP lives in France, could I suggest looking on eBay or locally for people selling off the transformers from train sets. The train sets from Roco,Trix, etc normally contain a conventional transformer in a plastic case either as a wallplug mounted or on a short cable. Many people often buy the sets because they are a cheap way of buying a particular loco (I have done so) and then selling the controller and track off. This also applies to DCC sets which contain a decent transformer. Brian
  13. The ECM Compspeed needs an AC input. The output is a series of pulses whose timing is derived from the 50 Hz AC The compspeed was discussed fairly recently. .http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/133793-ecm-compspeed-circuit/ Sketch of the circuit for the standard Mk 1 Compspeed Brian
  14. Try your local rag market or Google "curtain fabrics". Loads of suppliers online. Brian
  15. I have an "original" loco with circuit board in front of me. I've added a picture but the lighting isn't brilliant. But basically to return it to original condition you need to remove the decoder and all of it's wires from the board. Leave the black wires that come up through the holes in the board. There appears to be 2 cuts in the tracks where the brown and yellow wires are soldered on, these can be linked across but read on first. Originally there were 2 chokes wired between the pads by the piece of phospher bronze that connects the board to the motor brushes and the pads immediately to the left. You can just link the pairs of pads together. I cannot see any bulbs in the circular recesses just beyond the ends of the board. Normally there is a bulb and above it a small round selenium diode that's held in place by the strip of phospher bronze to give the directional lighting. It's possible to solder conventional diodes (1N4001 or smaller) across the cuts in the tracks I mentioned earlier. Brian
